Pilgrims Covenant Church gospel outreach update report

I come to the final article of this year and may I thank you for the encouragements you have been to me during the last 12 months.

I commend to you this report of the Autumn/Winter outreach activities of Pilgrims Covenant Church, in the state of Wisconsin, USA.

Though small, the church maintains a faithful witness to the gospel of Christ to their fellow citizens in their home state and in neighbouring states, such as Illinois.

We are all seeing, I believe, in these days a re-enactment of the experience of the foolishly rebellious people in the days of Jeremiah, about which I read just this morning.

“And the LORD God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising up betimes, and sending; because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place: But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy,” 2 Chronicles 36:15-16.

The witness of Pilgrims Covenant Church is an encouragement and an example to us here in Kilskeery and to many other Christian gatherings in these days of decline, declension and spiritual decay.

I would ask you to pray for Pastor Ralph Ovadal and his small band of workers as they maintain a faithful witness to the Word of God and the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Click to read more…

Sinn Fein/IRA — Unchanged, Unchanging and Unchangeable!!

Here are a number of reports from the local press which shows the sham of Sinn Fein’s attempt to put on a ‘human’ face.

They are in heart what they were in the days of terror and murder which for some forty years they waged against the people of Northern Ireland.

How true is God’s Word regarding their like!

“Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil,” Jeremiah 13:23.

How utterly foolish were the DUP leaders to enter power-sharing with them in 2007 and how inexplicable is its continuing in that shameful coalition!

This picture can easily be enlarged on you laptop, phone or tablet for easier reading

To see them now sitting in dominance in Stormont while the DUP pursues its ineffectual and pathetic campaign against the ‘NI Protocol’ on the sidelines, is a sure mark of the judgment of God that has overtaken our Province, due to its persistent adherence to ecumenical apostasy and departure from the Word of God. Biblical Separation - an essential truth for a believer’s wellbeing

These few thoughts arose while reading 2 Chronicles 25:5-11.

The meditation was a blessing to me as I saw afresh the simple truth concerning BIBLICAL SEPARATION and its blessing and cost.

Am I wrong in thinking that a right view of this truth has been largely lost to this generation? I think not.

For that reason I trust that, simple as the study may be, it will prove useful to some.

Sincerely in Christ’s name,

Ivan Foster

BIBLICAL SEPARATION – an essential truth for a believer’s wellbeing

“Moreover Amaziah gathered Judah together, and made them captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, according to the houses of their fathers, throughout all Judah and Benjamin: and he numbered them from twenty years old and above, and found them three hundred thousand choice men, able to go forth to war, that could handle spear and shield. He hired also an hundred thousand mighty men of valour out of Israel for an hundred talents of silver.

But there came a man of God to him, saying, O king, let not the army of Israel go with thee; for the LORD is not with Israel, to wit, with all the children of Ephraim. But if thou wilt go, do it, be strong for the battle: God shall make thee fall before the enemy: for God hath power to help, and to cast down.

And Amaziah said to the man of God, But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel? And the man of God answered, The LORD is able to give thee much more than this. Then Amaziah separated them, to wit, the army that was come to him out of Ephraim, to go home again: wherefore their anger was greatly kindled against Judah, and they returned home in great anger. And Amaziah strengthened himself, and led forth his people, and went to the valley of salt, and smote of the children of Seir ten thousand,” 2 Chronicles 25:5-11.

Sadly, what is said of Amaziah in verse 2 of this chapter, is something that can be said of most, if not all,  of us. “And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, but not with a perfect heart.” How flawed we are at our best. We see this sad truth in David, in Solomon, in Jehoshaphat, in Peter and the other disciples, to name but a few of the examples set before us in the Bible.

A truthful survey of our own hearts will produce the confession: “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God,” Romans 3:23.

Bearing this mind, let us humbly learn from what is said in the verses at the head of this article regarding Amaziah’s experiences.

I. LET US SEE THE NATURAL THINKING OF THE HEART

“He hired also an hundred thousand mighty men of valour out of Israel for an hundred talents of silver,” verse 6.

He had “three hundred thousand choice men, able to go forth to war, that could handle spear and shield” (verse 5) of his own men but that was not deemed enough. Above this, he had the help of the Lord for such help is ever promised to those who serve and obey Him. “And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed,” Deuteronomy 31:8. Where, why and when was Jesus born?

Given the paganism of this time of the year, I always like to bring a word of instruction to the boys and girls regarding what the Bible says about the birth of Christ.

It is a word that today all too many believers would need to heed since the ‘celebration of Christmas’ has infiltrated their ranks!

No good can come of this conforming to the world’s ways and practices and the adopting of the follies of unregenerate man.

Joe Kennedy III confirmed as US special envoy to Northern Ireland

Joe Kennedy III served as the US representative for Massachusetts’s 4th congressional district from 2013 to 2021

Good news is hard to find, outside of the Word of God.

The latest political announcement to hit Northern Ireland cannot, by any stretch of the imagination, be considered ‘good news’!

Doubtless, Sinn Fein/IRA will be clapping hands and slapping backs but that being so, it will tell us the character of this report.

This is the headline in today’s BBC Northern Ireland news website.

Joe Kennedy III confirmed as US special envoy to Northern Ireland

It is a deliberate ‘poke in the eye’ for the Unionist people of Ulster from that ‘arch-hater’ of all that is Protestant and British, President Joe Biden.

He has acknowledged the influence his mother has had over him and the forming of his political views. She was a bitter emigrant Irish Papist who brought with her to the USA all the bitterness toward all things British and Protestant, that only an Irish Papist heart can contain.

The Kennedy clan is stained with the grossest of immorality. Old Joe Kennedy was a well known philanderer, supportive of Hitler and the Nazis and an opponent of the United Kingdom’s war effort at the first. It is commonly believed that he made much of his great fortune through the sale of alcohol! It was this fortune which bought him his way into politics. Click to read more…

Belfast Trust apologises for ‘excessive delays’ at ‘Gender Identity’ clinic

At the risk of wearying you, I just have to draw attention to this wicked and evil deception, this satanic delusion which is funded by government and perpetuated by medical deceivers on poor duped fools.

IT IS THE FRUIT OF APOSTASY! It must be seen as the product of the false modernistic and liberal doctrines taught for years in so-called Protestant pulpits!

SHAME ON ALL THOSE WHO PROFESS THE NAME OF CHRIST AND WHO ATTEND AND SUPPORT SUCH RELIGIOUS CHARLATANS!

Sincerely in Christ’s name,

Ivan Foster

Gender identity: Belfast Trust apologises for ‘excessive delays’ at clinic

By Robbie Meredith and Jayne McCormack BBC News NI

The Belfast Health Trust has apologised for “excessive delays” experienced by patients waiting to be seen by Northern Ireland’s gender identity clinic.

BBC News NI has learned 698 people are on the adult waiting list.

The trust said that the longest waiting time is five years and three months.

Forty-seven young people are on a waiting list for the gender identity service for those aged 18 and under, with the longest wait currently 50 weeks.

The trust said it wanted to “sincerely apologise” to everyone affected by delays. Click to read more…

Samuel Morrison: Troubling conclusions over how ‘up the Ra’ became acceptable

The Republic of Ireland women’s team sang the pro-IRA chant after their World Cup play-off win over Scotland in October

This letter by Samuel Morrison, Press officer of the Traditional Unionist Voice party, appeared in yesterday’s ‘Belfast Newsletter’ (15th Dec 2022).

I commend it to you for it very concisely illustrates just how ‘glorifying and praising the IRA’ has become publicly acceptable to the nationalists of Ireland, North and South, despite the atrocities, carried out by that terrorist organisation, fronted by Sinn Fein, against Protestants and Roman Catholics.

How quickly murderers and terrorists become ‘paladins’ worthy of praise.

It is but Irish history repeating itself. Murderers from within the ranks of the ‘anti-treaty’ rebels of the 1922/3 Irish Civil War were soon elevated to ministerial status in the early years of the Dublin government.

Sincerely in Christ’s name,

Ivan Foster

Samuel Morrison: Troubling conclusions over how ‘up the Ra’ became acceptable

UEFA’s decision to fine the Football Association of Ireland €20,000 after their women’s team celebrated victory over Scotland by singing “up the Ra” should cause many to reflect.

When the controversy first broke the song from which the chant is derived, Celtic Symphony by the Wolfe Tones, rocketed to the top of the Irish charts. Before that, the chant was familiar to people well outside the confines of republican bars. The prominence of the song at the publicly-funded concert which rounds off the West Belfast Festival has angered those who suffered at the hands of the Provisional movement for years.

When the video of the Republic’s team singing the song emerged, Michelle O’Neill refused to offer an opinion saying that the FAI had issued a statement and “we should leave it at that”.

Recent polling suggests most of our nationalist neighbours share her nonchalant attitude to the offence caused. Seven out of 10 nationalists agree with Ms O’Neill’s contention that there was “no alternative” to the IRA’s 30-year campaign of terror. Click to read more…

CPS disowns statement - re Bible

This is welcome news though we believe that it does not indicate that such sentiments will not emerge again in the future when it is deemed by ‘the powers that be’ that the time for such a move against the Bible is apposite!

The Lord Jesus indicates clearly to us that the worldling has an undying hatred of His Word and will, when it is thought the time is right, ever seek to silence it.

He said to the  Pharisees: “I know that ye are Abraham’s seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you,” John 8:37. They hated the Living Word, the Lord Jesus and put Him to death and they and all of their ilk, would seek to silence the Written Word. “Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us,” Acts 5:28.

It is the Christian’s duty to ever defy such interdicts by the enemies of the gospel, though it is only by the Lord’s grace that this can be done.

This latest development in this controversy is most welcome and we say in response to it: “This is the LORD’S doing; it is marvellous in our eyes,” Psalm 118:23.

I sincerely thank Baroness Hoey, an Ulster women who has sought to uphold the cause of Ulster time and again, for obtaining this response.

I am including a copy of an email I sent to Baroness Hoey, thanking her for her efforts. Click to read more…

The DUP’s shameful support for the evil perversions of today!!

It grieves me to pass on this picture which was just sent to me.

I understand the two DUP councillors referred to  are on the left in this picture. The picture is part of the publicity surrounding the announcement of the plans the sodomites have made for their 2023 ‘Festival’ in Belfast.

If these two men are not sodomites, they at least show ‘pride’ in the perverted behaviour of those engaged in this abominable lifestyle.

Their action blasts the notion that the party which once campaigned to “Save Ulster from Sodom” back in 1977, is still occupying that moral position!

The DUP has sold out on this issue as well as on many other matters. Some of the issues it has abandoned its former position upon had great constitutional and political importance.

However, none will carry the consequences that this betrayal of truth and righteousness will have.

This picture and the silence of the DUP leadership, indicates that the party has embraced and openly supports that which God abominates!

“Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination,” Leviticus 18:22.

Such defiance will bring repercussions on the party and ALL WHO CONTINUE TO SUPPORT IT OR VOTE FOR IT!

Christians, particularly in the Free Presbyterian Church, who have continued to support and ally themselves with these (I use a good old Ulster term) Lundies, need to heed the words of the Lord Jesus Christ.

“No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon,” Matthew 6:24.

“He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad,” Matthew 12:30.

Free Presbyterians who continue to support the DUP must realise that they are thus designating themselves as ‘despisers’ of God and being ‘against the Saviour’ and His cause!

Who is it that truly fears the Lord can for a moment contemplate continuing on such a course amongst company?

“For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and their doings are against the LORD, to provoke the eyes of his glory,” Isaiah 3:8.

The DUP once had the motto: — “The truth shall set you free”.

Henceforth it must be: —  “And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter,” Isaiah 59:14.

Sincerely in Christ’s name,

Ivan Foster

The snare gripping the nations today

“And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man,” Luke 21:34-36.

There is always something fresh in God’s Word, something not particularly noted before!

Yesterday morning I read Luke 21 as part of my daily Bible reading. I don’t believe I ever before noted the words of verse 35.

“For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.”

This chapter deals with events about which the Saviour was warning His disciples to watch out for. He did so in response to what they were seeking to show Him. “And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, he said,” verse 5. This is the parallel of Matthew 24:1. “And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.”

The Saviour is quick to inform His disciples that that which they so admired would soon be utterly destroyed. That destruction took place in AD 70, when the Roman armies destroyed  the city of Jerusalem and the temple. Luke 21:2-24 deals with this period. Then the Saviour moves from AD 70 to the yet future times surrounding His second coming.

Many mistakenly believe that all the verses 2-28 relate to AD 70. However, we should carefully note the words of verse 24. “And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.” Click to read more…

News from 'Abolish Abortion NI'

Department of Health planning for 6500 children to be aborted every year – 1 in 4 Northern Ireland births.

On Friday the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Chris Heaton-Harris MP, instructed the Northern Ireland Department for Health to fully commission abortion services in Northern Ireland, effectively signing a death warrant for tens of thousands of children.

Early commissioning documents obtained by Abolish Abortion NI showed that the Department of Health were planning to create an abortion regime capable of murdering up to 6500 children every year. This will mean 1 in every 4 children will be murdered before birth.

Mr Heatton-Harris’ intervention, as well as the enormous pot of money he announced in last week’s budget, now provides the Department of Health with the means and motive to make their abortion holocaust a reality in Northern Ireland.

Below are some of the events we have planned for this week as we continue to fight back.

Episode 3  of our series streams Monday

As part of their 2021 General Assembly the Presbyterian Church in Ireland adopted a report that rejected the abortion abolitionist position. In doing so, however, the church has now adopted a theological position that is at odds with much of church history and the Westminster Confession of Faith.

The relevant section of the Public Affairs report, which has implications far beyond the abortion issue, was titled ‘The Theology of Exile’ and can be seen on page twelve of this document.

Last week we examined the document’s claim that Christians should be pragmatic in the public sphere by asking ‘Should Christians compromise with evil?’. This week we will be discussing how the church should engage with the world.

Episode 3 steams live at 8:30pm on Monday the 5th of December on Facebook and Youtube. Click to read more…

Street preacher was charged with hate crime for quoting Bible

Street preacher John Dunn

There are elements of this report which appeared in today’s “Times” newspaper (again, sent to me by a friend) that must be noted.

I. It is clear that perverts will decide who is guilty of a hate crime!

Guidance from the Crown Prosecution Service “any crime can be prosecuted as a hate crime” if it meets specific criteria. The bar is reached, according to an agreement between prosecutors and police, if an offence “is perceived by the victim or any other person, to be motivated by hostility or prejudice, based on a person’s disability or perceived disability; race or perceived race; or religion or perceived religion; or sexual orientation or perceived sexual orientation or transgender identity or perceived transgender identity”.

Note the words : “is perceived by the victim or any other person,”

That means that the matter is decided by those who hate the truth of God and claim that they are offended by it and therefore a victim of a hate crime! Someone who has thrown over God’s natural order cannot be considered ‘rational’ and therefore their opinion is a very poor basis for initiating criminal proceedings!

II. Prosecutors have taken up the role once occupied by the persecutors of John Wycliffe and all those who suffered to give us the Bible in our native tongue! Some 800 years ago they too changed the law to outlaw the Bible.

The Anti-Wycliffite Statute of 1401 extended persecution to Wycliffe’s remaining followers. The “Constitutions of Oxford” of 1408 aimed to reclaim authority in all ecclesiastical matters, and specifically named John Wycliffe as it banned certain writings, and noted that translation of Scripture into English by unlicensed laity was a crime punishable by charges of heresy.

Burning Wycliffe’s bones, from Foxe’s Book of Martyrs (1563)

The Council of Constance declared Wycliffe a heretic on 4 May 1415, and banned his writings, effectively both excommunicating him retroactively and making him an early forerunner of Protestantism. The Council decreed that Wycliffe’s works should be burned and his bodily remains removed from consecrated ground. This order, confirmed by Pope Martin V, was carried out in 1428. Wycliffe’s corpse was exhumed and burned and the ashes cast into the River Swift, which flows through Lutterworth. Click to read more…

Two reports in today’s ‘Belfast Newsletter’

These two reports which appear in today’s ‘Belfast Newsletter’ will be of interest to our readers. They were sent to me by a friend who often keeps me informed of such news items.

There is cause for great concern in both of these articles and also they should awaken believers to the direction the nation is moving in ever more rapidly.

The words of Bible prophecy are being fulfilled before our eyes.

“But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; how that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit. But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.,” Jude 1:17-21.

“I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables,” 2 Timothy 4:1-4.

But a glorious day is coming when the Lord will return to judge the mockers and deniers. A day of deliverance and conversion for Israel but also a day of mighty blessing for the nations of the earth.

“The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD’S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more,” Isaiah 2:1-4.

Such is the hope of the child of God, brightening these dark times which we know shall give way to the wonderful ‘Day of the Lord’! Click to read more…

Mary Lou in a bit of a 'Pickle'!

Mary Lou McDonald, the leader of Sinn Fein

The idiom I am using in the title of this article will be known to most. It refers to being in a similar situation as the items in a pickle jar, enduring the biting acetic acid of vinegar!

Mary Lou McDonald, the leader of Sinn Fein is currently in such an uncomfortable set of circumstances as the result of evidence given in the recent murder trial in Dublin of Gerard Hutch, 59, from the Paddocks in Clontarf, Dublin, who has pleaded not guilty to the murder of David Byrne in the city during a 2016 boxing weigh-in.

She strongly denies the substance of secretly-recorded conversations between Mr Hutch and former Sinn Féin councillor, Jonathan Dowdall.

Mr Hutch’s lawyer has objected to use of the tapes because eight of the 10 hours were recorded in Northern Ireland when police bugged Dowdall’s vehicle. Mr Hutch and Dowdall were driving to Strabane in County Tyrone when the recordings were made.

The recordings reveal that Hutch and Dowdall talked of how McDonald denied any links with those involved in the murder.

Here is what is published this morning in a report on the BBC news site of the recordings of the two men’s conversation.

We have copied the report in full below.

“Dowdall then criticised Mrs McDonald for not attending the funeral of Mr Hutch’s brother, Edward, who was killed days after the shooting of David Byrne at the Regency Hotel.

Dowdall said she should have attended the funeral and that she stayed away from it on purpose.

‘She didn’t attend the innocent man’s funeral. She was on the telly the night Neddy got shot and she branded everyone as scumbags, she said they’re all scumbags,’ he said.

‘She shoulda turned around and said, I know that deceased man and I know that family. It’d be different Gerard if she was a politician and it was not her area. You’s are in her area and she shoulda said that,’ he said.

‘But ya’s were good enough to use Gerard for votes, ya’s were good enough to use for money.’

Mr Hutch replied there wasn’t ‘one of them at’ the funeral.” Click to read more…

The voice of deceivers heard in the land

Joshua Heath

“If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; he is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself,” 1 Timothy 6:3-5.

A controversy has broken out as a result of the evil ravings of one, Joshua Heath, a junior research fellow at Trinity College, Cambridge. Heath claimed in a sermon that Christ had a “simultaneously masculine and feminine body” during the Crucifixion. He was supported in his vile assertions by Michael Banner, dean and director of studies in theology at Trinity, who said Heath’s view was “legitimate”!

University of Cambridge dean, Dr Michael Banner

It is reported in the press that worshippers left the chapel on Sunday of  last week weeping, with one shouting “heresy” at the dean. I have not reproduced the news reports in any great detail for what it was this evil man said in his sermon, which caused some understandably to weep, is so offensive to decency, I was unable to read very much of the report before I was forced to stop,

Sadly, I feel, that the same ‘weepers’ will likely be back at this ‘chapel of corruption’ next week again. It seems that all too many professing Christians put loyalty to their place of worship far above loyalty to God and His Word.

God’s command to those offended by the evil surmising of these agents of the devil is plain.

“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, and will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty,” 2 Corinthians 6:14-18.

The basis of Joshua Heath’s view of Christ (he is one of the many ‘educated ejits’ masquerading as God’s servants today) was the ‘Renaissance and Medieval paintings of the crucifixion’. These vain imaginings of these artists, most of whom if not all were men of utterly corrupt character, depicting the crucifixion of the Saviour  hundreds of years after the event, is the ‘Bible’ upon which Heath rests his ‘evil surmisings’!

To liken this process of reasoning unto basing your view of God upon the 19th century work of children’s fiction, ‘Grimm’s Fairy Tales’ or making the fairy tale, ‘Goldilocks and the three bears’, the foundation of your thesis on matters divine, would be to grossly understate the matter. Free Presbyterian Church trainee teachers graduation

The two videos were kindly forwarded on by a parent attending last night’s graduation ceremony in Bethany Free Presbyterian Church, for Free Presbyterian trainee teachers engaged in teaching in our schools. The training scheme has been ongoing since 1988. Our trainees train at the ‘coalface’, in the classroom. While undertaking these classroom duties they also pursue a extern degree course, so that at the end of their studies they fall behind none in the field of education.

Rev Brian McClung, Chairman of the Presbytery Education Board, led the meeting and Rev John Armstrong, the Moderator of the Presbytery, presented the diplomas.

A combined choir of pupils sang during the service.

We salute this year’s graduates, Miss Jemma Monteith, Miss Lydia Foster and Miss Elizabeth Edwards and pray the Lord’s blessing on them for their diligence.

"Ban the Bible!"

The article below was kindly sent to me by a friend. Sadly, the article quotes a perversion of the Bible, the NIV! I do not necessarily endorse all that is written in this article but the core subject is to be noted by believers.

This development illustrates what Paul said just before his martyrdom.

“I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.  For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry,” 2 Timothy 4:1-5.

Please note the words: “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears.” It is the itching ears of the pro-sodomite lobby which has brought about this statement by ‘the Crown Prosecution Service’. Doubtless the CPS has been infiltrated by sodomites and supporters of this wicked perversion and their presence is evidenced by these words.

It will not be long for ‘parts of the Bible’ to be up for banning  to become ‘any of the Bible’ to be proscribed.

This, my friends is the advancing of the ‘latter-day’ apostasy. The ‘time’, spoken of by Paul, has come!

“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils,” 1 Timothy 4:1.

The spirit of Ahab, the most evil of Israel’s kings, is abroad. Click to read more…

Letter to the Editor, Belfast Newsletter: Secularisation in the nation

Sir,

Secularisation in the nation, as commented upon by some of your recent correspondents, is but one of the facets of the nation turning its back upon God and His Word. We need to realise that what has been noted is but one of the trees in the ‘forest’ of apostasy from God.

Furthermore, this evil development is well announced in God’s Word as being a feature of the last days. Such trends declare the departure from the God Who so wonderfully blessed and prospered our land in centuries past and is a fulfillment of the prophecies set forth in the Old and New Testament.

Paul declares clearly the ongoing assault upon the gospel by deceivers with its final climax in the days before the Saviour’s return, in such places as 2 Timothy 3:1-9. Peter does the same in his second epistle, chapter 2.

Above all, the Lord Jesus tells us of the times that are breaking out around us, in Matthew chapter 24, especially the verses 11-21. The secularisation we see going on around us is but one of the “signs of the times” for which the Saviour said we must watch, Matthew 25:13.

The reader of the Bible will not be surprised by these developments, though doubtless vexed and grieved that a nation so privileged as ours should act so foolishly.

But then it has happened before, as the history of the nation of Israel demonstrates. We should remember and learn from the price it paid for its folly.

Let all remember Paul’s words in Romans chapter 1 of the nations in former times.

“And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them,” verses 28-32.

Protest letter to the ‘Belfast Telegraph’

I am sending this letter to the ‘Belfast Telegraph’ sadly, with the expectation it may well never appear.

Sincerely in Christ’s name,

Ivan Foster

Sir,

It brings lasting shame upon the ‘Belfast Telegraph’ that it should publish the wicked blasphemies of Gareth Hanna as are contained in his article ‘Street preachers’ Good News is nothing of the sort’, published in today’s edition.

The shame is increased in that he is likely paid by the newspaper to write such words in defiance of God’s truth.

Under the guise of criticising the follies of some ill-advised street preaching, he attacks the Word of God. The Lord Jesus Christ, said: “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him,” John 3:36.

Thus, He plainly states that the consequences of rejecting the Bible’s message is ‘abiding wrath’! The Gospel does indeed tell men, putting it in in simple terms, that they must ‘turn or burn’, something Hanna mocks and calls ‘toxic theology’! Click to read more…

An approaching universal judgment of which the world knew nothing

Building the Ark

“By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith,” Hebrews 11:7.

The Lord Jesus likened the circumstances that will mark the end of this age unto those that prevailed in the days of Noah, just before the destruction of mankind by a universal flood.

“But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be,” Matthew 24:37-39.

In Hebrews 11:7, there is mention of the ignorance of mankind regarding the approaching judgment. The sins that provoked the judgment of Noah’s day are the very sins which are prevailing today as, of course, is the ignorance of the harvest such sins will invariably reap.

“And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them,” Genesis 6:5-7.

Mankind has become so inured and hardened to what is going on, there is little notice taken of the flood of iniquity inundating the nations. Terror, murder, torture and slaughter of the young and innocent, the aged and infirm, the acceptance of shameful immorality as the norm and the rank abandonment of God’s law and gospel. Those religious institutions which have a credal acknowledgement of God and His truth, have generally speaking, abandoned all pretence of believing and acting according to their own avowed confessions and creeds.

This is apostasy. Click to read more…

200 pupils allege abuse by 77 priests

Gardaí (Irish police) are investigating allegations made by more than 200 pupils of schools run by Spiritans

The report below comes from the “Irish News” of 14th November, 2022.

I can but imagine the heartache felt by many Roman Catholics as yet another exposure of the vile perversions that have been repeatedly revealed in the press over the last few decades, occurring yet again!

Bible believers have little understanding of the unscriptural reverence and awe in which priests are held by devoted Romanists. It is the equivalent of the devotion of the heathen idolators for their spiritual ‘gurus’!

Therefore, when such reports as these appear it shatters and destroys the faith of many in the system of religion in which they have been raised.

Sadly, it does not cause an intelligent consideration of their religious beliefs, which have failed them, in the light of God’s Word. If it did, then it would result in steps being taken similar to those taken by those Roman Catholics in Europe in the 16th century when the truth about their religion was presented to them.

Back then hundreds of thousands, peasants and princes, had their eyes opened and obeying the light which streamed from the Word of God, they repudiated the false claims of Rome, saw it as a system of antichristianity and forsook it and banded themselves together in accordance with the structures and ordinances set forth in the Bible. Sadly today, the general reaction by the many ‘scunnered’ by such reports is to turn against God and everything related to Him.

To escape the horror of the false religion they trusted, they  mindlessly plunge into the dark sea of blaming God and spurning the truth of His mercy set forth in the Bible.! Click to read more…

‘Take them out and shoot them' - Irish State executions

Peter Cassidy, James Fisher, and John Gaffney

Here is an article found on the RTE news site. The article is entitled: ‘Take them out and shoot them’ – Irish State executions.’

As most will know, ‘Raidió Teilifís Éireann’ is the national broadcaster of the Republic of Ireland. Ulster Protestants have no reason for loving this organisation since it has been the voice of a State which in one form or another and to one degree or another, throughout its existence has waged war on our Protestant heritage here in Northern Ireland.

It began broadcasting in 1926 from its Dublin base. It has been the voice of the Dublin governments and it has reiterated their claims of jurisdiction over all of Ireland, to the vexation of the British citizens of Northern Ireland.

I have often read the historical articles mounted on its site, ever bearing in mind the bias that they would naturally contain. I did so for I have a love of Irish history, indeed the people of Ireland, believing that the national religion of the Republic’s twenty six counties, Roman Catholicism, is a usurper of the truth of God which came to this island in the days, and before even that, of Patrick.

Without a shadow of doubt, the message of Patrick was essentially that of the apostles, with the exception of some errors, which were the beginnings of the darkness which resulted in the rise of Popery, which had crept into the faith and practice of 5th century Christianity.

I have given a full account of Patrick’s own testimony, or ‘Confession’, which may be seen in a series of articles under the title, ‘The Bible in Ireland’

Because of this, I read with interest the aforementioned RTE article of events in 1922 during the civil war which had resulted from the acceptance, in December 1921, of the terms of peace between the government of the United Kingdom and the Irish Republican Army, the IRA. The peace agreement was called ‘The Anglo-Irish Treaty’. Click to read more…

Letter to Belfast Newsletter

This letter was submitted to the Editor of the ‘Belfast Newsletter’ back on 7th November.

It was in response to the outrageous statements of Mary Lou McDonald (“Mary Lou McDonald under fire from IRA victims’ relatives after claiming ‘no comparison’ between Provos and gangland violence”)

It has not been published and most likely will not as the news item referred to is somewhat dated as far as the media is concerned. I am therefore sharing it with you.

Sincerely in Christ’s name,

Ivan Foster.

Sir,

The reports in today’s press regarding the outrageous statements of Mary Lou McDonald brings some encouragement to those who grieve at the ‘elevating’ of this most unpleasant woman and her evil party, Sinn Fein, in the estimate of the Irish Republic’s electorate, according to recent polls.

To read of others, who see the utterly hypocritical views of this woman as she attempts to ‘sanitise’ the evil strategy of terrorism and murder that he party rode to power upon here in Northern Ireland, is most encouraging — late and all in the day as it may be!

This ‘harpy’ and her party, south and north, is but a front for the greatest band of criminals and miscreants that have blighted this island for many a long year! That she should be given credibility by any section of the population, will prove to be an inextinguishable and heinous stain upon the Irish Republic.

However, we take some comfort from the comments presently reported, though doubtless ‘political opportunism’ on the part of some of her political opponents plays a part in the condemnation!

May we see the pattern of God’s retribution that has ever followed hard upon the heels of those of her ilk, who have defied God and His Truth by boasting and calling ‘evil good’, develop and overwhelm this deluded woman and all who support her views. The pattern of divine retribution is wonderfully portrayed in the fate of Sennacherib king of Assyria, 2 Kings 19. So it has been with all such beings since the fall of Cain!

Let all read this chapter for instruction in how God deals with boasters and blasphemers!

Sincere regards,

Rev Ivan Foster (Rtd)

A day when reformation avails nothing!

“Notwithstanding the LORD turned not from the fierceness of his great wrath, wherewith his anger was kindled against Judah, because of all the provocations that Manasseh had provoked him withal,” 2 Kings 23:26.

There are many Christians who today believe that the consequences of the tide of iniquity that is swamping the nations can be averted if we seek for revival and reformation.

Such a notion flies in the face of the warnings and prophecies of God’s Word that clearly predicts that terrible times, ‘perilous times” (2 Timothy 3:1) will come upon the earth, particularly our part of it, at the end of this age. This truth is illustrated by the text which I read this morning as part of today’s scheduled daily readings, set forth in McCheyne’s Bible Reading Calendar.

Clearly it is taught in this text that:

I. THERE ARE TIMES WHEN NO DEGREE OF REFORMATION WILL AVERT JUDGMENT

“Notwithstanding the LORD turned not from the fierceness of his great wrath . . .” In other words, despite what Josiah had accomplished in Judah by way of reforms, the judgment of God was not turned away from the kingdom.

1. It must be understood that the reforms of Josiah were likely unparalleled in the history of the kingdom. We have God’s Word for that. The whole chapter endorses this truth. The verse just prior to our text says: “And like unto him was there no king before him, that turned to the LORD with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; neither after him arose there any like him.”

Yet such accomplishments did not deflect God from His purpose in Judgment. Click to read more…

Mary Lou McDonald under fire

Mary Lou McDonald ‘profoundly shocked’ at Dowdall’s criminal past

If ever there was a two-faced and duplicitous utterance it was that in the this headline in today’s ‘Belfast Telegraph’!

Mary Lou McDonald ‘profoundly shocked’ at Dowdall’s criminal past

The article continues:

“Mary Lou McDonald said that had she known about former Sinn Fein councillor Jonathan Dowdall’s involvement in criminality, he would not have been “anywhere near” the party.Ms McDonald said she was “profoundly shocked” to learn of Dowdall’s role in gangland crime.Last month, Dowdall was sentenced to four years in prison for facilitating the murder of David Byrne at the Regency Hotel in 2016.Dowdall, who turned state witness in the Regency murder trial, was also convicted of interrogating, threatening and waterboarding a man in January 2015.”

When we remember that Sinn Fein is indissoluble linked to the Provisional IRA, that statement just about takes the proverbial ‘biscuit’!

Many prominent members of Sinn Fein were active self-confessed IRA terrorists. Martin McGuinness, Gerry Kelly, Bobby Sands, to name but a few.All of these men were involved in an organisation that was guilty of terrorist murder, bombing, armed robbery and various forms of intimidation!

Sinn Fein councillor Jonathan Dowdall, just jailed in the Irish Republic and about whom Mary Lou McDonald puts on a show of ignorance, fitted in well with such a band of criminals. Such an astounding show of ‘sham shock’ is but one reason why Ulster Protestants must never believe the word of the charlatans and hoaxers who lead Sinn Fein!

Sincerely in Christ’s name,

Ivan Foster

The end is nigh!

The newspaper report which follows was sent to me by a kind friend who seeks to keep me informed of such events, knowing that I like to comment upon them in the light of the Word of God.

I take my title from the of-derided slogan on a poster, carried by a dishevelled character which cartoonists have delighted to use of Bible-believing Christian. The warning of the words have been mockingly rejected and spurned but time will prove the mockers wrong. Paul employs these words in 1 Corinthians 15:24. “Then cometh the end.” And come it most certainly shall and its approach is heralded by events set out in the news report which follows.

The content of the article, apart from anything else, indicates the rising tide of apostasy within the Church of England. Where it goes, most if not all other denominations follow soon after.

The reason for that is simple. The mainline churches and by that I mean all churches with the exception of those who have publicly declared themselves to have separated from the modernistic and theologically liberal trends of today, chiefly manifested in the ‘Ecumenical Movement’, have all succumbed to the corruption of the ‘latter-day apostasy!

Of this apostasy Paul said: “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron,” 1 Timothy 4:1-2. That spoken of here by the apostle emerged on the religious scene at the beginning of the 20th century. Here is something of what the Encyclopaedia Britannica says on the subject. RC bishop apologises after priest's controversial sermon

Seán Sheehy

My attention was providentially drawn to an article which has appeared in today’s ‘Irish Examiner’, a newspaper produced in Cork in the Republic of Ireland.

It is rare for me to endorse what a priest of Rome may say but I do endorse what is recorded in this newspaper as a statement from a priest, one  Seán Sheehy.

He said on the Sabbath past in his own mass-house that: “sexual sin was rampant, adding that sex between two men and two women was a sin.”

That statement is most certainly true.

I am sure in his celebrating of the blasphemy of the Mass (Article 31 of the Church of Ireland’s 39 Articles), the priest said many erroneous things. However, the statement of his that we have here quoted in the ‘Irish Examiner’ is absolutely true according to God’s holy Word, the Bible, by which all matters of religion are to be evaluated and judged.

Proof of its accuracy was seen in the display of some who walked out in protest!

However, the response of his bishop, Bishop Ray Browne of Kerry, to the statement of the priest was for him to apologise to the sodomite community attending the Mass and all their associates for what was said.

He denied that such a statement was ‘representative of Christianity’. He went on: “The views expressed do not represent the Christian position. The homily at a regular weekend parish Mass is not appropriate for such issues to be spoken of in such terms.” Click to read more…

The Lord's response to the trespass of His people

“I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early,” Hosea 5:15.

No one can accuse the Lord of not warning his people clearly of the consequences of backsliding and heeding the errors of those who reject the truth of God.

In verse 11 of this chapter 5 of Hosea, the prophet says: “Ephraim is oppressed and broken in judgment, because he willingly walked after the commandment.” The ‘commandment’ referred to here is that of which the reprobate king, Jeroboam who ruled the ten northern tribes, called the kingdom of Israel, following the division which took place after the death of Solomon, introduced.  He is frequently referred to as “Jeroboam, who did sin, and who made Israel to sin,” 1 Kings 14:16. What a dreadful epitaph to have inscribed by the Lord upon your gravestone!

The sin that he introduced was the worship of the golden calves. The commandment Jeroboam issued is recorded in 1 Kings 12:28-30. “Whereupon the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold, and said unto them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. And he set the one in Bethel, and the other put he in Dan. And this thing became a sin: for the people went to worship before the one, even unto Dan.”

He instituted that which was contrary to God’s Word and promoted a great departure from the Lord in his kingdom. That departure, that apostasy, cost Israel dearly as our text states.

I. HOW SLOW MEN ARE TO REALISE THAT TO DEPART FROM THE WORD OF GOD RESULTS IN HIS WITHDRAWING OF HIS MERCY!

Man has ever believed that he can sin and never suffer any consequences. Click to read more…

KICS Prize Winners at Fermanagh County Show

From early days after the establishment of the Independent Christian School in Kilskeery, pupils have entered pieces of work in the schools’ competition as part of the annual Fermanagh County Show. Every year pupils have represented the school well and won individual prizes for English writing, crafts and art. This year the Collum Shield for the highest total of points scored in the schools’ entries was awarded to two of our Year 6 pupils. Faith McFarland was (jointly) awarded the shield for the girl with the highest points and her classmate, Joseph Foster, was awarded the shield for the boy with the highest score.

The shields are on display in our school for this academic year and the awards have given great pleasure to teachers, pupils and parents in our little school and are a token of the Lord’s continued favour upon the work and witness of Christian Education.

KICS students Faith McFarland and Joseph Foster

The above photographs are copied from the local newspaper, ‘The Impartial Reporter’

In the top group photo, Joseph and Faith are second and third from the left in the back row and first and second in the back row in the second group photo.

We offer our sincere congratulations to Faith and Joseph.

The folly of the 'Save The Earth' activists

Gareth Hanna, Belfast Telegraph columnist

“Christianity should be at the forefront of battle to save planet”

So writes one, Gareth Hanna, in the ‘Belfast Telegraph’, of October 24th. He is employed as a ‘writer’ there. Hanna claims to have been brought up in ‘evangelical’ Christianity here in Ulster.

He discloses more about himself in another article entitled:

“Why it’s time more NI Christians came out as LGBTQ+ affirming”

He wrote: “As a Christian who has spent a lifetime within the religion in Northern Ireland, I now feel an ever-increasing responsibility to publicly say that I am convinced, wholly and utterly, that it is OK to be gay. I mean, of course it is — it’s more than OK.”

So now that we know the calibre of this purveyor of nonsense, we can examine his article about ‘saving the planet’ with an assurance that he is wrong on this topic as he is on the matter of Christianity and sodomy.

He starts off his ‘treatise’ with a reference to the TV cartoon characters, ‘The Simpsons’ and that immediately informs us of the sort of material from which he obtains his inspiration! Click to read more…

Answering the balderdash of an 'Educated Ejit'

Peter Heather, Professor of Medieval History at King’s College London

The article, the link to which is here posted, was sent to me by a friend.

Christendom by Peter Heather: the bloody history of its success

October 02 2022, 12.01am

I want to briefly deal with the central premise of the writer’s diatribe for once it is demolished then the vile assertions he levels against ‘Christianity’, by confusing it with ‘Christendom, fall apart.

I will entitle my response:

ANSWERING THE BALDERDASH OF AN ‘EDUCATED EJIT’

Peter Heather, is one of those labelled by W P Nicholson a century ago as ‘an educated ejit’!

Peter Heather is, as Wikipedia states: “Professor of Medieval History at King’s College London.”

It is little wonder the land is in the confused, lawless state that it manifests every day for all to see, with cretins like him filling the heads of the youth with unmitigated guff that he passes off as truth. Educated in the ‘knowledge of men’ he may be but he emanates every evidence of being one of “the enemies of the cross of Christ”, referred to by Paul in Philippians 3:18.

What this ‘Professor’ narrates of ‘Christendom’s’ history, whether or not accurately is for others to judge, is the history of the workings of that which Paul speaks of in 2 Thessalonians 2:7, as “the mystery of iniquity.” This has manifested itself chiefly within ‘Papal Antichristianity’ and in more modern times as the theologically ‘modernistic, liberal and ecumenical’ movement within the camp of ‘Protestantism’.

This was the spirit of error sent forth by the one the Lord Jesus said is “a liar, and the father of it,” John 8:44. The early church leaders were in constant war against this ‘lie’ for the devil was ever seeking to plant it amongst the true believers in Christ. Jude tells us what the early guardians of God’s truth were up against. “Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ,” Jude 1:3-4. A Response to the Saint Margaret Declaration from the Free Church of Scotland (continuing)

Free Church of Scotland (Continuing)

The following pdf is a lengthy article sent to me by Mr Lindsay McCallum, an elder in the Free Church of Scotland ( Continuing) and a retired school teacher who is the acting convener of the Church’s Public Questions, Religion and Morals Committee.

A Response to the Saint Margaret Declaration

It is a valuable response to the recent ‘agreement’ reached between the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland and the Roman Catholic Church in May of this year (2022)  and which was ‘welcomed’ by the Scottish Parliament.

This response to the agreement was sent to the Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament.

The terms of this iniquitous agreement are stated at the beginning of Mr McCallum’s response.

We commend our Scottish brethren who ‘earnestly contend for the faith once delivered to the saints’ (Jude 3).

Ivan Foster

A tribute to Andrew McFarland

Andrew shortly after he started at KICS

ANDREW McFARLAND, a former pupil of Kilskeery Independent Christian School, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday 18th October.

By Mrs Pamela Foster BA (Hons), MEd, Principal of the school

His Funeral Service will be conducted in Omagh Free Presbyterian Church by the minister, Rev Colin Mercer.

Service will be held on Friday, 21st October at 1.00 pm.

The service will be broadcast on FacebookYoutube, and Sermonaudio.

Tuesday 18th October was a day of sadness in Kilskeery Independent Christian School when we heard that Andrew McFarland, a well-loved former pupil, whose father, uncles and aunt also attended our school, had gone to be forever with the Lord. Tears were shed by young pupils who sorrowed for their classmate, Faith, in the loss of a much loved and treasured brother; and by older pupils too, who remembered sharing their early school days with Andrew. However, the Lord ministered to us and granted comfort and peace to staff and pupils together as we sang one of the hymns often sung with Andrew in his last year as a pupil in our school:

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me

All the days, all the days of my life;

And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever,

And I shall feast at the table spread for me;

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me

All the days, all the days of my life;

When I walk through the dark, lonesome valley,

My Saviour will walk with me there;

And safely His great hand will lead me

To the mansions He’s gone to prepare.

“Wee Andrew,” as he continued to be affectionately called by many of the pupils and teachers, was the most winsome and appealing of children. Andrew joined our school in September 2013 and he brought into the classroom an infectious giggle, a mischievous glint in his eye and a smile that charmed every teacher who was privileged to know him and work with him. Even when it began to become clear that Andrew would need special help and support as new difficulties were faced in the classroom, Andrew continued to exude a joyfulness that was in itself a reward for all who spent time with him. Andrew was a very special blessing to our school, in that he drew the best out of others and in his company we saw many of our pupils increase in the fruits of kindness, care and compassion for Andrew and towards one another. He was quick to pick up new words and tunes and we have delightful memories of him singing with enthusiasm and enjoyment along with the other pupils – and sometimes bursting into song by himself in the middle of a class.

When changes in Andrew’s condition meant it was necessary for him to move to Willowbridge Special School, we knew we would sorely miss a very special pupil. We set ourselves to pray that as Andrew could no longer be kept with us in the Christian school, the Lord would supply those, like Pharaoh’s daughter, with the compassion and skills to provide for Andrew’s next stage of care. Andrew’s family have testified that in the goodness and mercy of the Lord that prayer was abundantly answered. But Andrew’s teachers also asked the Lord that, before Andrew left the school and before his ability to communicate was further affected, there would be an evidence that this cheerful, good-natured little boy, who enjoyed praising the Lord and hearing His Word, was truly trusting in Christ as His Saviour. At that end-of-term Praise Service in June 2017, as the guest speaker, Rev William McDermott, in the midst of his message issued a challenge from the pulpit: “Are you saved?” pupils and teachers sitting around Andrew in the meeting heard his voice clearly raised in reply – “I am!” And when the preacher, unaware of the audible answer that had been given, repeated his challenge, Andrew again gave his testimony, “I am!” Many of our pupils and teachers, grieving at this time, remember that night with comfort and joy.

Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven, Matthew 10:32.

Something to remember when the wicked abound

Here is a recording of the message I preached at last night’s Kilskeery Prayer Meeting when I stood in for Rev Jonathan Creane who is preaching in Nepal.

I trust you find some nourishment and encouragement for your soul.

Sincerely in Christ’s name,

Ivan Foster

Going back to sin is not the way forward!

Veteran DUP MP says he wants party to merge with UUP to create single entity

So ran the headline on a ‘Belfast Newsletter’ article, dated 18th October, 2022. The link to the article was sent to me by a friend late yesterday evening. This prompted me to write the following.

The ‘veteran’ DUP MP, Jim Shannon, is a professing Christian. It is therefore all the more inexplicable and disappointing that he is calling for an amalgamation of the DUP and the Ulster Unionist Party. He sees such a step as a means of delivering ‘Unionism’ from its present difficulties.

Why do men think that going back to the ways and company from which they left because of its errors and sins, will bring deliverance?

The DUP was formed by Unionists who saw the policies of the Ulster Unionist Party as being dangerously compromising with regards Irish republicanism. Presently it is a party which embraces support for abortion and is ‘big’ on LGBT issues, having notable members who embrace the moral perversions of that ‘coterie’.

Presently, the DUP still professes to be against abortion and its members would, I believe, be largely opposed to the moral depravity of the sodomite lobby. However, the party’s stance on these issues has been undermined in recent years by some leading members voicing support of the ‘lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender’ elements within society. There is even a female DUP councillor who openly acknowledges a lifestyle that it utterly condemned by God in His Word who has been endorsed and lauded by the party. Click to read more…

Why the utter confusion???

A worried Mrs. Truss

“O Lord, righteousness belongeth unto thee, but unto us confusion of faces, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel, that are near, and that are far off, through all the countries whither thou hast driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against thee,” Daniel 9:7.

The words of Daniel above, go a long way to answering my question. The state of the nation is indeed very closely linked to the relationship it has with the Lord. This is a truth that is not only linked to Israel, the elect nation, but it applies most definitely to any nation that has been favoured by God with a knowledge of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

No nation has been more favoured than that of the United Kingdom. Out of it went a translation of the Bible in 1611 which has shaped the English-speaking world, and still does. It was the birth place of the modern missionary movement in the eighteenth century, something that may be likened unto the aftermath or lesser repeat of the harvest of Pentecost.

But oh how that has changed! Today, the ‘official view’ of both the religious and the scientific world, is one based upon a total rejection of the Word of God, which if men were only to obey then they could say with the Psalmist: “O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes! Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments,” Psalms 119:5-6. Click to read more…

The Creeslough tragedy

For a village of some 400 inhabitants, the sudden death, in a gas explosion at a shop and filling station, of ten of its villagers with ages ranging from five to fifty nine, is an unspeakable catastrophe.

We can only stand at a distance and grieve for those whose families have suffered such a loss. It seems so empty to give expression to sorrow but as one who has witnessed devastation on a similar scale on many occasions in my lifetime we can but offer sympathy and, above all, remember the sorrowing in prayer.

(top row, left to right) Leona Harper, 14, Robert Garwe, 50, Shauna Flanagan Garwe, five, Jessica Gallagher, 24, and James O’Flaherty, 48, and (bottom row, left to right) Martina Martin, 49, Hugh Kelly, 59, Catherine O’Donnell, 39, her 13-year-old son James Monaghan, and Martin McGill, 49, the ten victims of explosion at Applegreen service station in the village of Creeslough in Co Donegal on Friday, 7th October.

There is One, only One, Who can comfort in such circumstances and He is the One spoken of in our old hymn:

Standing somewhere in the shadows you’ll find Jesus

He’s the only one who cares and understands.

Standing somewhere in the shadows you will find Him

and you’ll know Him by the nail prints in his hand

Some may point the finger at the Lord and blame Him for such a tragedy but to do so is wrong, very wrong! The ancient patriarch Job sets the standard and the pattern we must adopt in such circumstances. What sorrow came on that man in a moment! Click to read more…

2022 Ploughing Championship outreach in Co. Laois

It was thrilling to hear Rev Jonathan Creane’s report of the Free Presbyterian witness at the Ploughing Match, held in County Laois, in his prayer meeting in Convoy FP Church.

It is heart-stirring to hear of the ready ear for the Word of God that was found amongst the many Roman Catholics who came into the tent to receive Bibles and the many items of gospel literature offered and to also have a cup of tea.

I know that your heart will be moved to pray for those who went away with God’s Word.

How good it would be if the same interest was found amongst the Ulster ‘Protestants’ who have been privileged for centuries with the gospel!

Sincerely in Christ’s name,

Ivan Foster

Identifying ourselves with the Lord

The following article arose out of my readings on the Sabbath Day past.

I thought that I would share my thoughts with you.

I have also included an audio recording of me reading the article. There ought not to be too many differences between the two!!

The Lord bless you all richly,

Ivan Foster

IDENTIFYING OURSELVES WITH THE LORD

“Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Son of man, set thy face against mount Seir, and prophesy against it,” Ezekiel 35:1-2.

One of my Bible readings for Lord’s Day, 2nd October, was Ezekiel chapter 35. I noted what it was the Lord said to Ezekiel in the opening verses and thought to myself that:—

I. GOD’S SERVANTS ARE REQUIRED TO BE AGAINST THOSE THE LORD IS AGAINST!

This is surely the implication of the words: “Set thy face against mount Seir” when considered in the light of the opening words of the Lord’s message to mount Seir, or the land of Edom. “And say unto it, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O mount Seir, I am against thee, and I will stretch out mine hand against thee, and I will make thee most desolate,” verse 3.

To be God’s servant in this day likewise requires a man to :—

1. Publicly manifest our opposition to that which the Lord is against. To do that we must be acquainted with God’s view on the ways and practices of men around us. We must be familiar with the Lord’s view of the conduct of our fellows in this age. Wickedness can ‘creep up’ on Christians and become accepted as being of no real harm. The devil loves to ‘creep’, Jude 4. He turns the heat up slowly so that few notice the change. It cannot be denied that there is much that is found acceptable to Christians today that was repudiated by previous generations. Conduct, lifestyle, behaviour, practices that are easily engaged in by many Christians today would have been utterly shunned by our forebears as totally unacceptable ways for a Christian to act.
