Yesterday morning in Kilskeery, Rev Jonathan Creane, minister of Convoy Free Presbyterian Church in Co. Donegal in the Irish Republic and minister in charge of Kilskeery congregation during its vacancy, preached a message entitled, “What is the Church?”.
It was a most edifying and encouraging message and I would like to share it with our readers.
He also gave a short report on the witness that he and others conducted at the “Royal Ulster Winter Fair”, held in Lisburn on 9th December past. Here is the gospel calendar that was distributed free. It has gospel texts prominently displayed on each page.
What was notable in his report was the readiness of the visitors from way down in the south of the Irish Republic to receive the gospel calendars while many Ulster Protestants were most adamant in their refusal!
This is the harvest of the cursed influence of Ecumenism and Liberalism in the main denominations in our Province. As it was with Judea in the days of Zechariah, so it has become in our six counties, so blessed by God in the past with revival.
“But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they should not hear. Yea, they made their hearts [as] an adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which the LORD of hosts hath sent in his spirit by the former prophets: therefore came a great wrath from the LORD of hosts. Therefore it is come to pass, [that] as he cried, and they would not hear; so they cried, and I would not hear, saith the LORD of hosts: but I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations whom they knew not. Thus the land was desolate after them, that no man passed through nor returned: for they laid the pleasant land desolate,” Zechariah 7:11-14.
