“‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭Sirs‭, what‭ must‭‭ I‭ do‭‭ to‭ be saved‭‭?‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ Acts 16:30.

Acts 16:31 is very likely one of the most preached on verses in the Bible.

It is an answer to a question that will only be asked by one whose heart and mind has been wrought upon in mercy by the Lord Himself!

It is a question that reveals three simple facts that I would like every reader to consider and, if you have never asked this question, then by the grace of God may you be made to ponder and ask this question.

I. WE DO NEED TO BE SAVED.

Despite this being universally true, there are very few who ever become aware of this truth.

The intervention of God is require for this question to be asked!

1. In the case of the jailor there was a most marvellous intervention! “‭And‭ suddenly‭ there was‭‭ a great‭ earthquake‭, so that‭ the foundations‭ of the prison‭ were shaken‭‭: and‭ immediately‭ all‭ the doors‭ were opened‭‭, and‭ every one’s‭ bands‭ were loosed‭‭,‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ verse 26.

Now, it is true to say such an intervention is not the usual way that the Lord employs in awakening and arousing a sinner.

In fact, I would say that the chief purpose in the earthquake which shook the prison was not the salvation of this jailer and his family but rather the vindication of His servants, Paul and Silas, both of whom had been treated must unjustly by the magistrates who had them beaten (verses 22-23), and most harshly, by the jailor (verse 24).

The Lord takes note of such treatment of His servants and will in His sovereignty make known His anger at the cruel actions of men.

I believe that the account give us here indicates why the earthquake truck the jail. “‭And‭ at‭ midnight‭ Paul‭ and‭ Silas‭ prayed‭‭, and sang praises‭‭ unto God‭: and‭ the prisoners‭ heard‭‭ them‭.‭ ‭AND‭ suddenly‭ there was‭‭ a great‭ earthquake‭, so that‭ the foundations‭ of the prison‭ were shaken‭‭: and‭ immediately‭ all‭ the doors‭ were opened‭‭, and‭ every one’s‭ bands‭ were loosed‭‭,‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ verse 25-26.

The pitiless treatment Paul and Silas and their praying, doubtless for the Lord’s help, brought about this wonderful display of God’s irresistible power!

However, while the chief purpose of this act by God was the honouring of His servants and answering their prayers, the Lord was pleased to work a subsidiary consequence of His action, namely, the awakening of the jailer to his lost spiritual state!

I think the word “must” indicates that the jailor was aware of the absolute necessity of salvation and the urgency with which he must attend to this matter. Many who have the beginning of a concern about the eternal safety of their soul are deceived by the devil and their own love for the ways of the world, into believing that they do not need to show haste in obeying the gospel.

That is most dangerous for we must not “‭Boast‭‭ . . . of to morrow‭‭; for thou knowest‭‭ not what a day‭ may bring forth‭‭,‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ Proverbs 27:1. The Lord counsels us: “‭Wherefore‭ (as‭ the Holy‭ Ghost‭ saith‭‭, To day‭ if‭ ye will hear‭‭ his‭ voice‭,‭ ‭Harden‭‭ not‭ your‭ hearts‭, as‭ in‭ the provocation‭, in‭ the day‭ of temptation‭ in‭ the wilderness‭ . . . ‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬Wherefore‭ I was grieved‭‭ with that‭ generation‭, and‭ said‭‭, They do‭‭ alway‭ err‭‭ in ‭their‭ heart‭; and‭ they‭ have‭‭ not‭ known‭‭ my‭ ways‭.‭ ‭So‭ I sware‭‭ in‭ my‭ wrath‭, They shall‭‭ not‭ enter‭‭ into‭ my‭ rest‭,‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ Hebrews 3:7-8, 10-11.‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

The Minister, Rev Samuel Fitton, preached at the Wednesday evening prayer meeting in Kilskeery Free Presbyterian Church on the text:

“‭The fear‭ of man‭ bringeth‭‭ a snare‭: but whoso putteth his trust‭‭ in the LORD‭ shall be safe‭‭,”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ Proverbs 29:25.

It was a joy to listen to the message and hear an emphasis placed upon truths with which I was familiar in my early years as a Christian.

I would like you all to have an opportunity to listen to this message and be blessed by it as I was.

Please try and find the time to go aside and listen to the message.

“‭And it came to pass, when Samuel‭ was old‭‭, that he made‭‭ his sons‭ judges‭‭ over Israel‭,”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬  1 Samuel 8:1.

We have considered how in the chapters 7 and 8 of 1st Samuel we are introduced to a dark time in Israel’s history. Yes, it was during the time of a most godly prophet, Samuel, but darkness nevertheless invaded the land and prevailed for it was a day of disorder in God’s house!

But though there was a wonderful and merciful intervention by the Lord, Israel soon drifted away again for such a time of victory soon decays because of the backsliding amongst God’s people. Even the great prophet Samuel has sanctioned evil amongst his own sons as our text states.

Having considered these points, I come now to that foreshadowed in these chapters.

I. THIS PORTION OF GOD’S WORD HAS A PROPHETIC APPLICATION.

It must be remembered that these events were all taking place as a prelude to the coming to the throne of Israel, God’s king — David!

I recall the happy day when I was a student in conversation with the one who would soon be my brother in law, John Douglas, when he pointed out to me how that David’s revelation as the champion of Israel and the slayer of Goliath, took place at his SECOND visit to the camp of Israel!

I learned that day how such prophetic ‘gems’ are sometimes concealed and hidden from our first glance at a passage!

There is a ‘quiet’ mention of David’s first visit to the camp of Israel in 1Samuel 17:15.

“‭But David‭ went‭‭ and returned‭‭ from Saul‭ to feed‭‭ his father’s‭ sheep‭ at Bethlehem‭.‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

“And it came to pass, when Samuel was old, that he made his sons judges over Israel,” 1 Samuel 8:1.

Chapter 8 of 1st Samuel was the reading for today (16.8.25). As is ever the case with Holy Scripture, the occurrences of the past, as recorded by divine inspiration, contain a foreshadowing of future events.

That is implied in Paul’s words in Romans 15. “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope,” verse 5.

The past actions of sinful men are but a pattern for the future actions of sinful men. Sin is ever the breaking of the Law of God!

“Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law,” 1 John 3:4.

God’s Law is unchanging and unchangeable. Therefore man’s transgressing of God’s Law is ever the same in essence. “The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun,” Ecclesiastes 1:9.

This is what makes the Bible ever relevant! Man’s cures become outdated and ineffective. The ‘vaccines’ produced to deal with the recent Covid virus are not as effective against the new strains of that virus. BUT the Bible, and the gospel message it sets forth, is ever effective, no matter how man thinks he has outgrown his need of salvation by the blood of Christ crucified.

In this chapter 8 of 1st Samuel we are introduced to a dark time in Israel’s history. Yes, it was during the time of a most godly prophet, Samuel, but darkness nevertheless invaded the land and prevailed.

I. IT WAS A DAY OF DISORDER IN GOD’S HOUSE!

“And the men of Kirjathjearim came, and fetched up the ark of the LORD, and brought it into the house of Abinadab in the hill, and sanctified Eleazar his son to keep the ark of the LORD. And it came to pass, while the ark abode in Kirjathjearim, that the time was long; for it was twenty years: and all the house of Israel lamented after the LORD,” 1 Samuel 7:1-2.

The ‘Ark of God’ whereon was the mercy seat, was the means by which prayer was offered to the Lord and it being out of the inner sanctuary, the holy place within the vail, in the Tabernacle, it could not have been approached by the high priest annually and the blood of the sacrificial lamb sprinkled upon it, and thus communion with the Lord maintained.

1. This breach in Israel’s relationship with the Lord was ‘long’ and resulted in Israel ‘lamenting’ after the Lord! A spirit of mourning prevailed amongst the devout Israelites. They desired to see a reinstatement of things as God had ordained. A people living under such spiritual conditions are not a happy, rejoicing, victorious people!

2. The answer to their sorrow was set forth by Samuel. “And Samuel spake unto all the house of Israel, saying, If ye do return unto the LORD with all your hearts, then put away the strange gods and Ashtaroth from among you, and prepare your hearts unto the LORD, and serve him only: and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines,” 1 Samuel 7:3.

That is the purpose and calling that God’s prophets should have! They should show the way by which a right relationship with God is to be restored and maintained.

Woe unto any people who have not such instruction but rather have ‘careless’ shepherds, who make no efforts to promote repentance and return amongst the straying sheep!

3.There was an evil response to the people acknowledging their sin. “And they gathered together to Mizpeh, and drew water, and poured it out before the LORD, and fasted on that day, and said there, We have sinned against the LORD. And Samuel judged the children of Israel in Mizpeh,” verse 6.

That spirit of repentance was noted by the enemy and, as is ever the case, they instantly moved to attack resurgent godliness!

“And when the Philistines heard that the children of Israel were gathered together to Mizpeh, the lords of the Philistines went up against Israel. And when the children of Israel heard it, they were afraid of the Philistines. And the children of Israel said to Samuel, Cease not to cry unto the LORD our God for us, that he will save us out of the hand of the Philistines. And Samuel took a sucking lamb, and offered it for a burnt offering wholly unto the LORD: and Samuel cried unto the LORD for Israel; and the LORD heard him. And as Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near to battle against Israel: but the LORD thundered with a great thunder on that day upon the Philistines, and discomfited them; and they were smitten before Israel,” 1 Samuel 7:7-10. On the wrong road, going in the wrong direction and led by deceivers!

The following is a report taken from ‘The Belfast Newsletter’, 21st August, 2025.

There are concerns expressed, and rightly so, regarding this ‘March’ because of both its ecumenical connections and its associations with those denominations which embrace liberal ‘Christianity’ with its adherence to every form of unscriptural doctrine and practice. Roman Catholicism is also one of those which has indicated that it both endorses the march and plans to participate in it.

The Bible’s revelation of Who Jesus Christ is, is rejected by modernistic ‘Protestantism’ and blasphemous Romanism.

Any ‘assurances’ given by the March organisers regarding the ecumenical character of this march should be rejected for evidence of the true nature of this affair is all too plain.

The true person of the Lord Jesus Christ is set forth for us in the Westminster Confession of Faith.

“The Son of God, the second person in the Trinity, being very and  eternal God, of one substance, and equal with the Father, did, when the fullness of time was come take upon him man’s nature, with all the essential properties and common infirmities thereof, yet without sin: being conceived by the power of the Holy Ghost, in the womb of the Virgin Mary, of her substance. So that two whole, perfect, and distinct natures, the Godhead and the manhood, were inseparably joined together in one person, without conversion, composition, or confusion. Which person is very God and very man, yet one Christ the only Mediator between God and man,” (Chapter VIII, paragraph 2).

That will not be the universal view of those in the ‘March’!

It is therefore not a place where a true believer in Christ and one who seeks to obey the Bible will want to be seen. It would be wrong to give any form of endorsement to this amalgam of modern day ‘Babylonianism’!

The Bible clearly teaches the position of separation from all that is out of step with the Word of God that is to be observed by the Christian. Any true believers who do participate are deceived and acting contrary to the warnings of Holy Scripture! Click to read more…

In this our final study, I want us to particularly consider chapter 8, verses 10 to 27.

I will be seeking to bring together other prophecies from different parts of Holy Scripture, which are parallel to that recorded by Daniel, and I hope to be able to do that with some degree of clarity and cohesion.

At the close of our last study we noted what chapter 8, verse 9 says. “And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land.”

I suggested that these geographical directions indicated that the “little horn”, the Antichrist, will approach the land of Israel from the north west. I further suggested that to travel from the land of Turkey to Israel would require just such a direction to be taken.

I. THE ANTICHRIST WILL BE AN INTELLIGENT MAN, SPEAKING GREAT THINGS!

This we are told in chapter 7, verse 8. “In this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.” The eyes and the mouth suggest human intelligence.

We are further told in 8:10-11. “And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them. Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, . . .”

This is explained for us, leaving us without cause to guess and theorise as to what is meant.

“And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time. But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end,” verses 25-26.

The phrase “a time and times and the dividing of time” is explained in out last study and is that three and half year period of the ‘great tribulation’ for the Jewish people that will only end when Christ returns.

1. A chief feature of the Antichrist is his blaspheming of the Lord. The “great things” he will speak are great blasphemies against God! This will take place during the ‘great tribulation’. Click to read more…

Yesterday, Kilskeery Free Presbyterian Church marked its 51st anniversary since the opening of the hall which now forms the auditorium of the church building

Here are two pictures of that event. It is soul-stirring to look upon so many who laboured on the building of the hall who are now in glory.

‘One by one their seats were empty,
One by one they went away.’

We are thankful to the Lord that He has maintained the witness of the hall, which in 1977 was constituted as a Free Presbyterian Church congregation.

In February 1978 I became the pastor of the small flock.

The following year, Kilskeery Independent Christian School was commenced under the principalship of Mrs Ann Foster BA, now too in glory since June 8th, 2024.

“While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.”  Matthew 25:5-6.

This chapter begins with the word ‘Then’. We must ever remember that the Bible was written without chapter divisions. They were added and are very helpful in finding our way through it but sometimes they tend to divide that which should be seen and read and understood as a continuing discourse.

Chapter 24 and 25 of Matthew is just such a case.

Olivet discourse

Chapter 25 is a record of the Saviour continuing His ‘Olivet’ discourse in answer to the disciples’ questions: “And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world (age)?” Matthew 24:3.

So, in Matthew 25:1, we are given the state of the ‘ kingdom of heaven’ here on earth, just before the Saviour returns. “Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto . . .”

I. IN THE FIRST CENTURY, THE REDEEMED ARE SEEN TO BE WAITING TO GREET THE SAVIOUR ON HIS RETURN.

1. This is made clear in the epistles of Paul.

“And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body,” Romans 8:23.

Paul said of the believers in Corinth: “Ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ,” 1 Corinthians 1:7.

“For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God; and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come,” 1 Thessalonians 1:9-10.

“And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ,” 2 Thessalonians 3:5.

2. This is not to be understood as the first generation Christians expecting the Saviour to return in their day.

This dear brother, Kobill Jude, was known to some from Kilskeery who visited Uganda a little while ago and his faithfulness and godliness was spoken of warmly.

The prayerful sympathies of Christians here in Kilskeery Free Presbyterian Church are sincerely offered at this sad time to his whole family and circle of fellow labourers for the Lord.

“And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them,” Revelation 14:13.

The following statement has been issued by the Free Presbyterian Mission Board.

UGANDA – It is with great sadness that we inform you of the sudden death of Master Kobill Jude, one of our dedicated teachers at the Emmanuel Christian School, Uganda. He was killed on Sunday afternoon in a motorbike accident, at just thirty-nine years of age.

Master Jude had taught RE in the Primary School for thirteen years, and was the P7 Class teacher. He was also a very able translator at School assemblies.

There was a very large attendance at his funeral service on Monday including the staff and P7 pupils of the Emmanuel School. Rev Carscadden was one of the speakers at the service. As a mark of respect, the Emmanuel School was closed for the day.

Master Jude was also a part time Pastor, and he was killed as he returned from preaching at a Church service where he had spoken of ‘running the race and passing on the baton’.

His wife Madam Sylvia is also one of our Primary teachers and their four children are all pupils at the school.

We extend to them all our deepest sympathy.

Please pray for Master Jude’s family, the school and our missionaries at this very sad and difficult time.

I have been informed that the late Mr George McConnell, long time faithful supporter of the Free Presbyterian Church missionary outreaches, sent in a letter of resignation to Presbytery at the beginning of this year (2025), explaining that he could no longer serve in the position he had occupied for many years because of its treatment of Rev David DiCanio.

Mr McConnell had a very high regard for Mr DiCanio and felt that his treatment by the Free Presbyterian Church, resulting in his expulsion as a missionary, was disgraceful.

However, I understand that his letter was not read out in full and the impression was left with the members of Presbytery that he had resigned because of ill-health.

That was not the reason but it likely suited the officers of Presbytery for the members of Presbytery to go away with that impression.

Mr McConnell was held in high regard by all within the Free Presbyterian Church and his views regarding the treatment of Rev David DiCanio would have alarmed many people and, doubtless, embarrassing questions would have been asked of the Presbytery officers.

If I am mistakenly informed about this issue, the Presbytery can easily set the matter straight by publishing Mr McConnell’s letter of resignation and I will certainly inform the readers of ‘The Burning Bush’ of the true facts.

It is important that the name and honour of a faithful man be upheld and that the reason for his resignation not be disgracefully concealed and misrepresented by a withholding of the truth on this matter.

Perhaps some member of Presbytery, on reading this, will ask for the letter to be read out in full to Presbytery, for I feel that, as is the usual case, there will be no response to what I publish!

“Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God,” 2 Corinthians 4:1-2.

When i was a DUP councillor in Ballymoney council, 2005 – 2009 new legislation was brought in to allow same sex marriage to be legalised in the borough. Mervyn was a sitting councillor as well at that time and was the DUP group leader. We always had group meetings before the monthly council meeting, but on the particular day that this law was to passed, I wasn’t told that the group meeting was changed to the middle of the day. The rest of the group decided that at the council meeting a statement would be read out saying how the DUP didn’t agree with it, but allowing it to pass.

As a born again Christian, I knew this went against everything I was taught and I also knew it would offend my saviour and Lord. The new law was going against everything God’s word proclaimed. 

So I spoke up at the council meeting, making a proposal that ” the council would not allow civil partnership marriages to take place in any government buildings nor within the borough of Ballymoney. My motion was seconded by my colleague councillor Audrey Patterson. It went to a vote and all my other DUP colleagues abstained from the vote, including Mervyn Storey.

But the unbelievable happened after the meeting when Mervyn pulled Audrey and myself aside and threatened us with the party whip, to not do anything like that again.

I made it very clear to Mervyn, I serve my master Jesus Christ first, then the party.

All this that has come out now about Mervyn doesn’t surprise me, he showed his true side to Audrey and myself. And since then the DUP has only went down a slippery slope when it comes to God’s laws

Shortly after this I resigned from bring a councillor and the party. I couldn’t stay in an organisation that sang about God on a Sunday to please people, but during the week stuck their fingers in God’s eye’s.

Peter Robinson rang me shortly after I resigned and I told him ” I wouldn’t tell the media my reason for leaving” it was simply put down as personal reasons. 

So there you have it, my real reason for leaving. And in my view, Mervyn needs to choose who he wants to serve. God or man. And Ballymoney free Presbyterian church should definitely be asking him this question. 

The country can do without Mervyn Storey, but it definitely can’t do without God, the one true God Jehovah. And He can definitely work without any politician.

Sir,

Mr Mervyn Storey only digs the hole he is in even deeper with his attempt defence of the indefensible!!!

It is reported in your newspaper, at 6.26pm on Friday 8th August, that Mr Storey had issued a statement defending his role as chair the board of the Education Authority (EA) which in its ‘Guidance for Schools on Supporting Transgender Young People’, promotes respect for ‘a young person’s wishes and use their preferred name/pronoun in everyday interactions’, and that ‘staff should give a transgender pupil access to toilets which match their gender identity, unless there is a good reason not to do so’.

In his statement he said:—‘The suggestion that I am, or have ever been, engaged in promoting transgenderism is without any foundation in fact…’

‘For further accuracy, I would point out that the guidance referred to intended to support transgender pupils in schools was developed [in] 2019, prior to my appointment as chairperson of the board of the EA in January of this year.’

Mr Storey simply puts his foot in his mouth by that statement!

He tells us that the perverted guidance issued by the Education Authority, which aids and abets transgenderism, was in place when he accepted the position of chairman of the Board. He obviously knew then that he was taking on the leading role in a body that openly sided with transgenderism. How can he now say that there is no foundation in the criticism that he helps promote this ungodly and utterly unscriptural and unnatural notion?

One cannot hold the position of chairman of an organisation which promotes transgenderism and claim that one is not a participant in the promotion of this evil!

Mr Storey should study the allegation that the Lord levelled against the Edomites who watched the destruction of Jerusalem by the Babylonians, though took no part. “In the day that thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that the strangers carried away captive his forces, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou wast as one of them,” Obadiah 1:11.

Mr Storey’s pathetic excuse will not cover or conceal his wrongdoing!!

When Mr Storey was running away and refusing to answer, he was showing a little more wisdom than he is now in offering this moronic defence!!

The whole issue of Mr Mervyn Storey and his chairing of the Education Authority while that body issues evil guidelines to the state school system in Northern Ireland regarding ‘transgenderism’ and other vices such as sodomy and abortion, and its calling for a recognition of the legitimacy of that which God calls “vile affections” (Romans 1:26), and its seeking to promote such amongst school children, has been brought before the Free Presbyterian Church in a most definite and dramatic manner.

Mr Storey has long been involved in that which is quite opposed to the holy standards of God’s Word.

The Corrymeela Community

He was involved in heaping praise upon a most ungodly organisation, ‘The Corrymeela Community’ and wished the then chairman, Pádraig Ó Tuama, a Romanist and sodomite, in 2015 ‘well for 50th anniversary celebrations’, (Northern Ireland Executive website).

Money for Sodomites

He was also involved in the funding of ‘sodomite’ organisations in 2015. I quote from a ‘Burning Bush’ article published in January 2015.

‘Here is what was disclosed in an article in the Belfast Newsletter in its report of the Department of Social Development’s reply to Mr. Allister. “The answers received revealed that amongst the spend: £1,064,546.17 was spent on GAA clubs, with £273,000 spent on one club alone in Strabane, Strabane Sigerson’s Club; £1,134,100.33 was spent on Irish language groups; £138,997.78 was spent on a republican ex-prisoners group, Tar Anall; £83,176.18 was spent on the Bloody Sunday Trust; £259,087.93 was spent on Carrick Hill Residents Association; and £231,681.00 was spent on LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transexual) projects, including £170,000 to support the Strabane & Lifford LGBT group alone, and annual subventions to Belfast Pride.” (See a full news report here) We want to emphasise the fact that “£231,681.00 was spent on LGBT projects, including £170,000 to support the Strabane & Lifford LGBT group alone, and annual subventions to Belfast Pride.” While Free Presbyterians denounce and protest against the “Belfast Gay Pride” parade, Mr Storey, a Free Presbyterian elder, is engaged through his Department in funding the same wickedness!’

Mervyn Storey’s chairing of the Education Authority and thus linking himself to the Guidance for Schools, EOTAS Centres and Youth Service on supporting transgender young people is in keeping with his unscriptural stance in the past!

There has never been any action taken by his church, Ballymoney Free Presbyterian Church, where he is an elder, nor has any action ever been taken by the officers of Presbytery. Click to read more…

I believe that the Lord is answering the prayers of a faithful remnant of Free Presbyterians who have been praying for many years now that the sham and shame of the DUP’s hypocritical ‘double standards’ and continued deceiving of Christians, regarding its abandoning of Biblical standards, might be exposed for the sinful fraud that it is.

Party links make DUP outrage over drag event hard to defend

Poor Mervyn Storey is dropped further into the mire of hypocrisy by this exposure of the DUP links to the wickedness he claims to be against!!!!!

Of course, his denial is highly flawed, to say the least, since he willing took up a role in an education institution which pushed the ’transgenderism’ agenda amongst schoolchildren.

Furthermore, his links to Ballymoney Free Presbyterian Church leaves that church and its membership in a situation that involves them in this scandal, except action is taken to rightly separate themselves from it!

The DUP had claimed that they would change the ‘pro-transgenderism’ guidance of the Education Authority back in 2022, so Mervyn Storey, as a prominent and active DUP member, HAD to be aware of it.

Yesterday’s ‘Belfast Newsletter’ reported:

“In 2022, the then-education minister, DUP MLA Michelle McIlveen, told the News Letter ‘it is my intention to review the guidance’, but it still remains in effect today.”

“Behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out,” Numbers 32:23.

May I enquire if the officers of Presbytery will act in the case of the very public exposure of Mervyn Storey’s continued violation of the teaching of the Word of God, the Standards of the Free Presbyterian Church and his ordination oath, with the same alacrity as they acted against Rev David DiCanio, who faithfully exposed the sinful use of ‘hymns’ of which the Free Presbyterian Church has stated it opposed?

Irrespective of the manner in which Mervyn Story’s hypocrisy was highlighted, his running away and his unwillingness and inability to answer speaks volumes.

I will add that I intend publishing this email for others to read for there is a broken-hearted desire amongst Free Presbyterians for action to be taken against the downgrade of which the incident involving Mervyn Story is but the latest shameful example!

The following statement was issued today by the Free Presbyterian Church in Ballymoney in response to a protest mounted by members of the Burke family against Mr Mervyn Storey, an elder in the Ballymoney Church.

The protest was about the hypocrisy of Mr Storey occupying the chair of the Board of the Education Authority (EA), which is charged with administering advice to pupils entitled ‘Guidance for Schools on Supporting Transgender Young People’. The ‘guidance’, we are told in the document is issued to, ‘represent emerging good practice regarding the support of transgender young people and should be considered carefully.’

It basically entails an endorsement of the perversion of today and encourages support for any pupils that desire to embrace them!

Mervyn Storey was appointed by his friend, Education Minister Paul Givan, with effect from 1 January 2025.

The following statement from Hebron Session has much to say about the manner of the Burke protest and I am sure there will be those who share, at least to some measure, misgivings about what happened during the protest.

However, there seems to a losing sight of the hypocrisy of Mr Storey, one of the members of the Session which issued the statement. He is neither defended nor criticised. There is total silence regarding him!

As I have highlighted again in my article :—

This is not the first time that Mr Storey has acted in a fashion contrary to his ordination oath as an elder.

Why has the Session of Hebron church made no mention of the wrong-doing of Mervyn Storey?

Silence and smoke-screens are not part of a faithful Christian witness.

Statement from the Session of Hebron Free Presbyterian Church

8 August 2025

On Sunday night 3rd August 2025 our congregation in Hebron Free Presbyterian Church, Ballymoney, suffered an unseemly attack by some members of the Burke family from Co. Mayo. They entered our church property not to worship but create havoc, filmed without permission, and engaged in shouting and heckling, harassing those who had gathered to worship God. After a blessed day of Christian fellowship and gospel preaching, such behaviour on the part of the Burke’s was totally out of order. Their reprehensible conduct caused great annoyance to the entire congregation, especially to young children and some elderly who had to be evacuated through a side door to avoid their confrontational conduct. Their acclaimed purpose? To call into question our church’s integrity regarding its stance on the issue of transgenderism. Therefore, lest anyone should not be aware of the Burke’s methodology in placing doubt where it doesn’t belong, the Kirk Session of Hebron Free Presbyterian Church reaffirms unanimously our belief and acceptance of the Bible’s teaching on moral values.  Click to read more…

HERE IS ONE CURE!

1. Open your spam or junk email folder.

2. Review the contents of that folder to locate the misdirected email.

3. Open the email and look for an option like “Not junk,” “Not spam,” or “Move to inbox”.

4. This action not only moves the email to your inbox, but also signals to your email provider that the sender is legitimate.  Particularly if you are using Gmail, it will modify its spam filter to properly deliver emails from that sender to your inbox in the future.

That question has been asked of me quite a number of times since the video depicting two members of the Burke family challenging Mervyn Storey regarding his position on  ‘transgender ideology’.

(Mervyn Storey challenged — why no answer ????)

The ‘Belfast Telegraph’ report, which I quoted from in my article on the matter, states: ‘The pair accused Mr Storey of “enforcing transgender ideology” through his role as Chair of the Education Authority (EA) board. The ex-MLA was appointed to the role by Education Minister Paul Givan in 2024.The Burkes’ claims relate to an EA document entitled ‘Guidance for Schools on Supporting Transgender Young People’, a document first published in 2019.’

I understand that ‘The Chairperson role requires a three days-a-week commitment, with annual remuneration between £50,000 and £60,000 (subject to negotiation within this range). Travel and subsistence expenses will also be reimbursed for costs incurred while carrying out EA duties.’ (Education Authority website).

However, such remuneration will not compensate one who violates a solemn oath made to the Lord and who proves unfaithful to the Lord they profess to obey and follow on that ‘great day’!

The video and the newspaper report on the confrontation has caused quite a stir amongst Free Presbyterians.

In truth, it should come as no surprise since the two-facedness of Mervyn Storey has been known to Free Presbyterians for quite sometime.

I have highlighted his hypocrisy in the ‘Burning Bush’ on quite a number of occasions and have drawn Presbytery’s attention to his repeated violation of his ordination oath as an elder of Ballymoney Free Presbyterian Church. Click to read more…

The controversy aroused by this video ought to embarrass the Free Presbyterian Church in Ballymoney. But it ought to do more than that. There needs to be a recognising that one day “‭God shall judge the secrets of men,”‬ Romans 2:16. The exposing of the hypocrisy of Mervyn Storey and his running away rather than answering the questions put to him in this video are but a foretaste of that great day!

If they were false accusations that were being made, WHY DID HE NOT SAY SO?

Did not his running away speak volumes?

The minister and elders of the church have been told of Storey’s unscriptural conduct but nothing has ever been done. Now they too are silent!

How far from the stand of 1951 and the brave stand of Ballymoney’s founder, Sandy McAuley, have some in the Free Presbyterian Church fallen!

The constant reporting on the news channels of just how many illegals are being ferried into the UK by criminal gangs, has reached the stage of ‘ad nauseam’! This is one of today’s examples:

The absolute flood of channel crossings virtually every day and the hapless French police standing by, indeed often assisting the illegals; the pathetic and utterly ineffective measures proposed, applied and scrapped as useless by our Westminster government; the hand-flapping fulminations from the sidelines by politicians who, in the past, have proved themselves to be equally inadequate – (but who expect the general public to be so stupid as to forget their failures), the ludicrously insane housing in top class hotels, feeding and putting extravagant sums of money into the pockets of these ‘outlaws’ — can only be explained as the workings of some sort of virus that has ‘unhinged’ the rulers of our nation!

In the light of how these ‘invaders’ are treated we can expect it to be law soon that if we catch a burglar in our home and stealing our property, we must not apprehend them and call the police, but rather we must give them the best room in our home, clothe and feed him and put our money at his disposal!

To do otherwise will be deemed unlawful and contrary to the human rights of the outlaw!

In truth, the assembly of maniacs in Luxembourg City, called the ‘The Court of Justice’ of the European Union (CJEU), formerly known as the European Court of Justice (ECJ), is the judicial institution of the European Union. It ensures that EU law is interpreted and applied correctly across all member states. It has laid down just how these miscreants are to be treated! It is at the centre of a web of a judicial system that dictates how all within the grasp of the European Union should live and act and think.

The United Kingdom left the EU in January 2020 but because of the mind-boggling jiggery-pokery of Westminster’s deceivers and liars, we are still under the influence of this evil foreign body! Click to read more…

“And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; there stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us. And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them,” Acts 16:9-10.

Acts chapter 16 is filled with the glories of the wondrous grace of God toward sinners. It is famous for the record of the conversion of a hardened sinner, the jailer of Philippi.

Is it not most amazing the lengths to which the Lord will go to awaken a lost soul?

“And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed,” Acts 16:25-26.

Folly

This wonderful event is quickly followed by a display of sinful man’s utterly foolish notion of what is the best thing to do in a time of crisis!

“And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled,” verse 27.

Paul’s response to the most unwise action of the jailer embodies the core of the purpose of the gospel. Click to read more…

The isolation of Northern Ireland from the rest of the United Kingdom has reached a new level, or as Jim Allister MP, rightly puts it, a humiliating stage.

‘Day of humiliation’ for UK as Irish Sea Border Control Post opened in Larne – Jim Allister

So runs the headline in the ‘Belfast Newsletter’ of July 28th, 2025.

That which Irish Republicanism, the Roman Catholic Church and the anti-Protestant members of the British parliament, both Conservative and Labour, have long sought — the expulsion of Northern Ireland from the United Kingdom, is all but accomplished!

‘​The division of the United Kingdom under the Windsor Framework has been ‘cemented in’ by the opening of a new border control post at Larne, Jim Allister has said.’

‘​On Monday, a new piece of Irish Sea Border infrastructure became operational at the County Antrim port – with Belfast due to have its facility put in place early next month.

‘As the All-Ireland Internal Market for Goods is defined by laws made by Dublin, and the rest of the EU, which are then simply imposed upon us, these Border Control Posts serve a wholly ignoble purpose. They are there to protect the ‘integrity’ of the consequence of our disenfranchisement and secure the disruption of our best economic interests as we are forcibly alienated from the greater part of what has been our home economy for goods for more than two hundred years.’

This amounts to an ‘expelling’ of Northern Ireland from the United Kingdom and it has to be said that the DUP aided and abetted this act of treachery! The DUP entered an agreement with the Conservative Government in 2024 by which a power-sharing executive, led by Sinn Fein/IRA was restored and out of that agreement sprang the ‘Windsor Framework’ and the ‘hiving off’ of Northern Ireland from mainland UK! The opening lines of the BBC report on the ‘Belfast Perverts’ march today under the headline:

‘Belfast Pride’s 2025 theme strikes defiant note’

read as follows:

“Belfast Pride is striking a defiant note as it holds its annual parade in the city on Saturday.

Pride’s 2025 theme is ‘Not Going Back’, which organisers said was chosen because they believe ‘LGBTQIA+ rights are under attack, here and across the world’.

The festival’s co-chairpersons, Neil Millar-McDonagh and Lynn Millar, said the ‘Not Going Back’ theme sent a clear message.

‘As we celebrate how far we’ve come, we stand firm in our commitment to keep moving forward – towards love, equality and justice for everyone in our LGBTQIA+ community,’ they said.”

This evil theme was endorsed by the Alliance Party, according to today’s ‘Belfast Newsletter’ headline.

As the Lord helps me, I hope to speak on subjects that I have felt vitally important during my time of preaching, now in its 60th year.

Wednesday evening, I wish to speak on the subject of Israel. We are commanded of God to “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee,” Psalm 122:6.

“And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died, being an hundred and ten years old. And they buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnathheres, in the mount of Ephraim, on the north side of the hill Gaash. And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the LORD, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel. And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim,” Judges 2:8-11.

I read these words with a trembling and vexed heart on Saturday 19th July, for they all too vividly describe what is happening yet again amongst God’s people! I also read that morning a companion chapter, Jeremiah 15.

In them both there is reiterated the judgment that follows departure from the Lord by His people!

Such is the tendency of the Christian to stray that under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost Isaiah said: “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way,”Isaiah 53:6.

That ‘straying’ brought about the Saviour’s sufferings on the cross as the means of atoning for our sins and rescuing us and bringing us to the safety of the fold.

Despite being acutely aware of this truth, God’s people, with sad regularity, drift away from the Lord and set aside the clear teaching of His Word and, in consequence, raise children who because of the ‘drift’ of their parents, KNOW NOT THE LORD, NOR YET THE WORKS WHICH HE HAD DONE.

I. I BELIEVE THAT THE ROOT CAUSE OF THIS SAD DEPARTURE AND CONSEQUENT JUDGMENT, IS THE FAILURE OF THE ADULT GENERATION TO RIGHTLY TEACH THEIR OFFSPRING!

On Friday 18th July ‘The Christian Institute’ issued a statement which was headed:

Long-awaited sex ed guidance removes age limits for sex education

“It is also now explicitly clear that “all” teaching materials for sex education lessons “should be available to parents”, including external resources.

Previously, some schools have refused to allow parents access to materials, citing copyright issues, with providers claiming to be fearful that their content would be plagiarised.

But the new guidance also states that where contracts exist that would prevent parents from accessing “any material at all”, these contracts are “void and unenforceable”. This is because “they contradict the clear public policy interest of ensuring that parents are aware of what their children are being taught in sex and relationships education”.

“While this is welcome, the new guidance does contain some concerning updates regarding LGBT content. Previous wording had stated: “Primary schools have discretion over whether to discuss sexual orientation or families with same-sex parents”.

But this has been replaced by: “We strongly encourage primary schools to teach about healthy loving relationships, and to include same-sex parents along with other family arrangements when discussing families”.

While this statement relates to education on the mainland, here in Northern Ireland, the Department of Education tends to keep in step with what happens in the schools in the rest of GB.

Presbytery’s foolish decision

In response to directives from the Department of Education here in Northern Ireland, the majority in our Presbytery passed a resolution back in March of this year, part of which stated:

In our first two studies we concentrated upon the importance of prophecy and the role it plays in the life of the believer. We also noted the central location of prophetic events in Holy Scripture — the areas around the Mediterranean Sea and in particular that land that the Lord is pleased to call “my land”, (2 Chronicles 7:19, Isaiah 14:25 etc). In our third article, we went a little further and began to note the details of the prophecies given in these two chapters.

In this our fourth study, I would like to come to some more of the details given in these two visions granted to Daniel. The first vision, recorded in chapter 7, which centres upon the emergence of the four great kingdoms (verse 17) which “arise out of the earth”, will be our focus in this study.

The word translated ‘earth’ may be seen to be used in a context which clearly indicates that it is not a reference to the whole surface of the earth. In Daniel 2:39, there is a reference to the ‘third’ great kingdom, the Grecian empire.

“And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth.” Now the Grecian empire did not rule over all the lands of the earth, so we can see that the word ‘earth’ here is used in a limited fashion. I believe that it refers to the ‘prophetic’ earth, the territories dominated by the four great kingdoms of holy Scripture which owe their mention in the Bible to the fact that they ‘interacted’ with the people and land of Israel, God’s land and people!

The fourth ‘beast’, or kingdom, is described as being “dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly”, verse 7. That kingdom is the ‘Roman Empire’!

I. I MUST STRESS THAT THE FOURTH KINGDOM, THOUGH EMERGING LONG AGO, AROUND 2171 YEARS AGO, AFTER THE FALL OF THE GRECIAN EMPIRE, WILL STILL BE IN EXISTENCE WHEN CHRIST RETURNS!

That is made very plain in Daniel 2:44. “And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.”

The kingdom that the Lord will set up is inaugurated at His return. That is made plain in Revelation 11:15. “And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.” Click to read more…

“‭Praise‭‭ him, ye heavens‭ of heavens‭, and ye waters‭ that ‭be‭ above the heavens‭.‭ ‭Let them praise‭‭ the name‭ of the LORD‭: for he commanded‭‭, and they were created‭‭.‭ ‭He hath also stablished‭‭ them for ever‭ and ever‭: he hath made‭‭ a decree‭ which shall not pass‭‭,‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ Psalm 148:4-6.

I will quote but one of a great variety of headlines setting forth unconverted man’s baseless conjecture regarding the future of our planet and the cosmos.

‘The Four Ways The Earth Will Actually End’

I will not give the ‘link’ to this stupid article, for I would not encourage any to read such idle buffoonery!

The truth of the matter is that men, observing the signs of decay and decline in the environment of the earth, have in their folly, drawn conclusions that are contrary to the plain statements of Holy Scripture.

These conclusions also run contrary to the dominant concept of modern biology — EVOLUTION!

Charles Darwin, ‘the patron saint’ of Evolution, has misled the world, aided by a multitude of like-deluded ‘eejits’, into believing that by a process that cannot be observed, and therefore is unscientific, life on earth began as a mere single cell which ‘evolved’ through millions of years, until, MAN appeared. Evolution claims that he ‘appeared’, only after passing through many stages of ‘development’ which included a time in which our ‘ancestors’ swung about in the branches of trees, having first of all spent ages crawling on our bellies as an unspecified assortment of ‘creepy-crawlies’!

So, we are told, humanity evolved!

Considering the behaviour of many today, you could be forgiven for considering that the genes of a monkey are indeed to be found in mankind’s DNA!

However, despite their belief in Evolution, the ‘wise and the learned’ today see the opposite process at work and conclude that the earth will one day cease to be, destroyed as a result of man’s abuse of the constituent elements of the earth.

We are told that the fears of today’s ‘environmentalists’ are rooted in the ‘accelerating effects of climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution, and the potential consequences for human societies and ecosystems.’

There is indeed abundant evidence of man’s abuse of creation, brought about by his greed and indifference to the consequences of his actions.

HOWEVER, while decay is evident, that does not mean that it is a FATAL process!

The past and the future of the earth, the sun, the moon and the stars are declared for us in God’s Word.

I. CREATION HAD ITS ORIGINS IN THE SIX CREATIVE ACTS OF GOD, SOME 6000 YEARS AGO. 

“‭In the beginning‭ God‭ created‭‭‭ the heaven‭ and‭ the earth‭,‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬Genesis 1:1.

As stated before, I plan to mount recordings of sermons I have preached in the past. These sermons are based upon the Word of God and therefore are ever relevant since the blessed book of God is always and ever right up to date.

Peter said: “ I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance,” 2 Peter 3:1.

I would hope that what was said in weakness in years past, by one who can say like Amos of old, “I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet’s son,” 7:14, will be listened to with profit, especially by those who we’re not yet born when the controversy of 2007 and ‘power-sharing with Sinn Fein/IRA’ brought such confusion into the Free Presbyterian Church.

I hope then to periodically mount again, in many instances, the ‘blowing of an alarm’.

A sermon preached in Kilskeery Free Presbyterian Church on August 2nd, 1998, by the minister, Rev Ivan Foster.

There is only one book to which we may turn as we search for an explanation for the working of God’s providence in these evil days. That book is, of course, the BIBLE.

This blessed book shows how that God, amidst what we see as confusion and chaos, is accomplishing His grand purpose amongst men. In the Bible God explains that purpose to His people. “He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel,” Psalm 103:7.

God’s people have recourse to a book wherein is stored the wisdom of eternity. When events around us puzzle and perplex, then turn to the Bible. That is what David did. “Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counsellors. . . . I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the ancients, because I keep thy precepts,” Psalm 119:24, 99-100. The Saviour’s words in Matthew 24:15 underscore our need of consulting God’s Word as the map of the ages, wherein God’s people will find their path clearly laid down. In the day of Antichrist’s manifestation, the directions given by the Saviour will benefit only those who study His words. “When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains,” Matthew 24:15-16. Peter too tells us of the benefits of God’s Word in a day of darkness. “We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts,” 2 Peter 1:19. It was a story of institutional inhumanity – which, at first, many found unbelievable.

Hundreds of babies and children, buried in an unmarked mass grave, at the site of an institution for unmarried mothers near the west coast of Ireland.

St Mary’s Home operated in Tuam, County Galway, from 1925 until 1961.“In the early decades of the Irish state, founded in 1922, the Catholic Church held an immensely powerful position – and that meant those who fell outside the demanded norms of the Church, and society, faced huge social stigma.”

This article makes sad reading indeed!

In our first two studies we sought to set forth some important, though basic, prophetic truths that are found on the very surface of these two chapters. I would like now to begin to look at some of the specific details, given us in these same chapters, of the character of the regime of these four kingdoms, especially the fourth and final kingdom.

1. We should note that the divine depiction of the kingdoms is that of each one being more wicked than the one before! There is progression but it is downward. The creatures symbolising the four kings/kingdoms are increasingly fierce and cruel. We move from a ‘lion’ to a ‘bear’ with prey in its mouth and which is engaged in the ‘devouring of much flesh’. We then move to a ‘leopard’, a strikingly beautiful and sleek creature, but a cruel ambush predator. It is followed finally by an indescribable creature which was “dreadful‭‭ and terrible‭, and strong‭ exceedingly‭; and it had great‭ iron‭ teeth‭: it devoured‭‭ and brake in pieces‭‭, and stamped‭‭ the residue‭ with the feet‭ of it‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬,” Daniel 7:7.

The Descent

The descent into depraved cruelty is also demonstrated in the early depictions of these four kingdoms, recording in chapter 2.

There we are told of a decline from ‘fine gold’, to ‘silver’, to ‘brass’, to ‘iron’ and finally to ‘clay’! The ‘value’ of these kingdoms, as pictured by these metals and clay, is subject to ‘deflation’! Just as a nation that possesses gold is benefitted by what that precious metal can buy and likewise, a nation with no gold but ‘silver’, will not enjoy benefits to the same degree as the nation possessing gold.

These kingdoms slip from a substantial measure of benefits enjoyed by the inhabitants, to a lower and lower level of enjoyment of life’s comforts. The gold evolves to silver, to brass and finally to iron and clay.

Further Described

The kingdom is further described for us in the answer given to Daniel by the angel.

“‭Thus‭ he said‭‭, The fourth‭ beast‭ shall be‭‭ the fourth‭ kingdom‭ upon earth‭, which shall be diverse‭‭ from‭ all‭ kingdoms‭, and shall devour‭‭ the whole‭ earth‭, and shall tread it down‭‭, and break it in pieces‭‭,‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ Daniel 7:23. Its diversity from the other kingdoms is repeated, for the same thing is said earlier in verse 7.

‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭The word ‘diverse’ does not tell us that it was ‘different’ in character from the other three kingdoms, but rather that was ‘transformed’, it had changed (as the Hebrew equivalent of the Aramaic here translated as ‘diverse’, shows us in the other places it appears) into a more devilish system ‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬of evil! In this day of repeated scandals and mounting criticism heaped upon the National Health Service, there are those who pose as ‘physicians’, who carry a much greater burden of failure and guilt!

It is one thing to fall short in the care of the PHYSICAL wellbeing of the nation, but it is an immeasurably greater failing to mislead and neglect the SPIRITUAL wellbeing of it.

That is the failing of those who would claim to be ‘spiritual physicians’ here in Ulster.

Ever since the so-called, ‘Good Friday Agreement’ was signed by politicians here in 1998, it has been heralded as the birth of ‘peace’ in Northern Ireland by the deceitful in church and state.

In truth, the fruit of this agreement has been the establishing of the allies and supporters of IRA terrorism in positions of power.

Example

An example of the character of those exalted to power as a direct result of the endorsement of the GFA, may be seen in the comments of Sinn Féin’s ‘President’, Mary Lou McDonald.

She made this comment on her ‘Facebook’ on Tuesday past — “On this day in 1981, Joe McDonnell gave his life on hunger strike in the H-Blocks of Long Kesh. A courageous son of Belfast, his sacrifice remains a beacon in the struggle for the freedom and unity of Ireland. Joe McDonnell will never be forgotten.”

Right!

She is right in one matter! He will never be forgotten. His crimes will be dealt with by the Lord one day and since he died as a result of his politically motivated suicide, it may be assumed that he died in defiance of God and His Law and he will therefore be damned for his many crimes and wickednesses — as will ALL who die without Christ. My days of writing articles are drawing to a close. No one can stop the clock or the calendar or the aging process!

While I may mount an article occasionally, I intend to try and maintain a witness against the growing apostasy and the sad compromise amongst many Free Presbyterians in the face of this latter-day rebellion against the Lord.

Sir,

A great deal of ‘pernicious drivel’ has appeared in your newspaper ‘letters’ column concerning what is wrong religiously here in Northern Ireland.

There is a common theme in these letters: ‘Abandon the Biblical beliefs of the past and go with what the ‘modernists and liberals’ say is good.’

That is seen as the ‘cure-all’ for Ulster’s woes.

Sadly, nothing could be further from the truth!

That which God was pleased to bless in the past, with repeated seasons of revival blessing and thousands of conversions to personal faith in Christ and the enjoyment of peace with God, is what may be found in the ‘Old Confessions’ of the three main denominations and which has been repudiated by those denominations.

Therein lies the cause of our troubles!

A study of the Bible, particularly the Book of Judges, will show that what we have experienced, and will continue to experience, stems from a rejection of the truth of God, set forth in Holy Scripture.

‘Ecumenism’, man’s invented religion, has demanded the abandonment of the cardinal doctrines of the Word of God. That demand has been acceded to by the three main churches.

I hope your readers will consider these quotations from the historic doctrinal statements of the main churches, doctrines which God was pleased to endorse and prosper those who preached them!

‘Of the one Oblation of Christ finished upon the Cross.’

The Offering of Christ once made is that perfect redemption, propitiation, and satisfaction, for all the sins of the whole world, both original and actual; and there is none other satisfaction for sin, but that alone.

This shameful and deplorable headline has featured in a number of news websites and it has constrained me to send out this condemnation.

Lily Allen, 40, shocks fans as she claims she ‘can’t remember’ how many abortions she’s had: ‘Maybe four or five’

This is the woman who without guilt or embarrassment acknowledges that ‘Abortions I’ve had a few… but then again… I can’t remember exactly how many.’

She has murdered 4 or 5 unborn babies by abortion but blithely states that she cannot really remember how any unborn babies she ended the lives of!

It is a clear testimony of the level to which human beings will sink when no longer challenged and directed by the Word of God and made to realise just what sin is!

It is also shocking reminder of the dreadful truth that it is perfectly ‘legal’ to ‘do away’ with the unborn in our land!

The truth of God on murder has been thrown overboard and the depraved views of the ungodly enthroned as the law of the land.

It has to be said that we are ripe for judgment and virtually all pulpits are silent in the face of this satanic onslaught.

A WORD FOR LILY ALLEN

Let me plainly say to Lily Allen that there is a coming day when the Judge of All the Earth will cure her poor memory and face her up with her crimes.

Furthermore, I believe it possible she will encounter in some way the little ones she so casually disposed of since I am of the opinion that children who died before the years of understanding go to heaven, redeemed by the blood of Christ.

But even to such as Lily Allen there is offered a way of escape, even  by the pardon for sin, purchased by Christ at Calvary, and set forth in the gospel of the Lord Jesus.

But there is no escape for those who reject its offer of mercy and salvation.

“How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him,” Hebrews 2:3.

We thus introduced our first study of these two chapters:—

‘These two chapters are very relevant for Christians today, for they refer to many of the things that will take place in the last days of this age. Yes, the visions of Daniel recorded here begin with references to times, many centuries ago but it also deals with the last event of this age and the first of the new age, the Millennial Age!

“I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed,” Daniel 7:13-14.

I might suggest that the words of the Saviour in Matthew 24 imply that He expects His people to be familiar with the prophecies of Daniel.

“When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)” Matthew 24:15.

It is very evident that prophecy was given to us as a means of warning and instruction, especially for the latter days. How we should study the prophecies of the last times as they dawn upon us!’

We now come to part 2 of our study.

I. PROPHECY FEATURES EVENTS INVOLVING PEOPLE AND NATIONS IN ONE PARTICULAR REGION OF THE EARTH.

“Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea. And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another,” 7:2-3.The ‘great sea’ is the Mediterranean Sea. It is well known what the word ‘Mediterranean’ means. It is derived from Latin and means ‘in the middle of the earth’.

The BBC Northern Ireland news website reported on the ‘performance’ of the Belfast rap (??) group ‘Kneecap’ at the Glastonbury ‘music’ gathering in Somerset, England.

The report reads:

“Belfast rap group Kneecap filled Glastonbury’s West Holts stage for a highly-charged performance that hit back at Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer with expletive-laden chants.

The Irish-language band have been in the headlines after rapper Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh, who performs under the name Mo Chara, was charged with a terrorism offence for allegedly displaying the flag of proscribed terrorist organisation Hezbollah at a gig last year. He has denied the charge.

Last week, Sir Keir said Kneecap’s appearance at the festival was ‘not appropriate’.

On stage, the band thanked Glastonbury for keeping them on the bill and told the crowd the ‘prime minister of your country, not mine, said he didn’t want us to play’.

Mr Ó hAnnaidh is on bail after a court hearing in London two weeks ago.

Towards the start of their set, the rapper – who was wearing a Palestinian keffiyeh – held his arms out to the crowd and announced, ‘Glastonbury, I am a free man!’

His bandmate Naoise Ó Cairealláin, who performs under the name Móglaí Bap, called the case “a trumped up terrorism charge”, adding that it was “not the first time there was a miscarriage of justice for an Irish person in the British justice system.”

He then implored fans to turn up to support Mr Ó hAnnaidh at his next court appearance at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in August.

The event is an example of how the hierarchy of the British political system can be mocked in their heartland by those who ‘perform’  under the stage name of ‘Kneecap’, named after an IRA method of punishment meted out to those who break ranks with its murder campaign or are deemed to have in any way disparaged any of its leaders, they who should ever be ‘worshipped’ as heroes!
