Nothing indicates the morality of the majority of the members of the Westminster Parliament in 2025 more clearly than the BBC headline of June 17th :—
MPs vote to decriminalise abortion for women in England and Wales
‘Precious Life’, the largest pro-life group in Northern Ireland, in response to this decision, ran the headline:
Precious Life Condemns MPs Who Backed Extreme Abortion Law: “Unfit for Office”
Their report stated:
‘Precious Life has condemned the 379MPs who voted (17 June) in favour of an extreme amendment (NC1) to decriminalise abortion through the Crime and Policing Bill —calling their actions shameful and insisting they are not fit to hold public office.
This vote is a disgrace. These MPs have turned their backs on the most vulnerable members of our society — our unborn children. They must resign!
This barbaric legislation will allow the killing of babies in the womb who are older than 24 weeks, by “Do-It-Yourself” abortions, for any reason, right up to the moment of birth.
137 MPs voted against the “NC1” amendment, including Northern Ireland MPs from the DUP and TUV, and Alex Easton and Robin Swann. However, SDLP MPs Colum Eastwood and Claire Hanna supported killing babies in the womb by voting for the NC1 amendment. Claire Hanna was also an actual co-signatory to this cruel abortion amendment, and personally signed it. The Alliance Party’s Sorcha Eastwood was also a co-signatory to another extreme amendment (NC20) that would have legalised ‘sex-selection’ abortions – killing female unborn babies when a girl is not wanted.
The NC1 amendment is the most radical pro-abortion shift in UK law since the ‘Abortion Act’ was passed in 1967. Now in 2025, almost 700 babies are killed EVERY DAY by abortion in the UK. Although the Abortion Act led to virtually abortion-on-demand for babies up to 24 weeks old, there were still some legal restrictions to killing a baby in the womb. Now, even the few remaining restrictions are being swept away.
This legislation passed tonight will result in even more babies killed – right up to birth – and it will not be treated as a crime.
Precious Life urge voters across Britain to hold their MPs accountable. The next General Election must be a turning point. We call on every pro-life citizen to stand up, speak out, and ensure only candidates who defend life are elected to Westminster.’
While I would support such a call as is made at the end of this statement, I do not believe that there will be the reaction amongst the electorate that ‘Precious Life’ desires to see.
Why? For the simple reason abortion has become increasingly acceptable to an ever larger section of society. It has been taught as a ‘medical process’ that basically carries no more moral significance than having a tooth pulled!
Children in schools are taught that the slaughter of the unborn is just part of every day life now which they must accept!
This legislative step is but an illustration of how evil, to an ever more degenerate level, becomes progressively acceptable. We have seen it with sodomy, same-sex marriage and transgenderism!
It is as the Bible says: “But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. Do not err, my beloved brethren,” James 1:14-16.
That which has been the chief means of promoting such a debased social attitude has been the modernistic and liberal theology that has taken over the mainline churches!
The World Council of Churches gave respectability to ‘every foul spirit, and unclean and hateful bird’, when it came into existence and was supported by all the primary Protestant Churches, dominated by the latter-day rejectors of the Word of God.
Since its inception in 1948, the flood of “seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils” has swept the world as a tsunami of corruption that has laid waste ‘Christendom’.
Tidal Wave
Like a tsunami, it is the result of an eruption from the depths. Revelation 12:12-16, records a figurative picture of a literal event that will take place close to the Saviour’s return at the approaching end of this age.
“Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time. And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child. And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent. And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.”
That this will happen close to the end of the age is seen in the phrase depicting the awareness of the devil that time is running out for him. “Because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.”
Jews
I believe the woman pictures the latter-day believing remnant amongst the Jews, who will be particularly targeted by the devil and the ‘flood’ out of his mouth is the deceitful lies he will hurl against that remnant with the aim of annihilating them.
I once wrote on these verses: ‘I believe we have a picture here of the church in Jerusalem driven out of the city by the devil’s agent, the Antichrist. Satan has seen once before what an influence this church exerted when it was the centre of the great world-wide evangelistic crusade, in the first years of the apostolic age. His rage against it then succeeded only in spreading the gospel message everywhere. . . . Satan must relive his defeat at the cross every time a child of God responds to his attack by pleading the blood of Christ in prayer. Little wonder he is provoked! We tread upon his broken head every time we pray and testify in the power of the blood of the Lamb.
The emergence of a strong church in Jerusalem is particularly vexing to the prince of darkness. For a lively church to be raised up in Jerusalem after the city has been in a state of great spiritual desolation for such a long period, and that at a time when the devil is hopeful of making it the centre of his God-denying empire, enrages him. His rage is like a flood. ‘And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood,’ verse 15.’

Today worldwide, we see the beginnings of the rising tide of deceit that will eventually become that flood. The recent decision in the House of Commons was an example of the power of the flood to overthrow moral standards which had long been the very bedrock of the nation!
In the face of that flood, it is futile to expect a change in society’s thinking. Where would it come from? The main churches are totally given over to unscriptural teachings and notions, with the exception of a very small and totally ignored minority!
Downward
No, the course of the nation is downward to judgment. THAT is what is revealed for us in the Bible and the Lord indicates that it will not be stopped!
As it was in the days of Abraham, when he was told that “In the fourth generation they (his descendants, the Israelites, in Egypt) shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full,” Genesis 15:16, so it is today!
The Lord here is telling Abraham that the Canaanite nations, which under Joshua, some 400 years hence, God would judge and destroy, were not yet ripened for judgment.
In like manner, the nations of the earth, out of which God is still gathering a remnant according to the election of grace, will continue downward and ripen until the great command from heaven is issued.
“And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe. And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God,” Revelation 14:18-19.
Therefore, in the light of God’s Word, I believe that the final rebellion has begun and the nations, including our own, will continue to develop and deepen in their sin. There will be no turning back from its present wickedness, for it is marked for judgment because of its ongoing defiance and insurrection.
The Past
It will be as it has been in the past. It was so with Israel, even as Isaiah the prophet declares.
“Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward. Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint. From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment. Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers. And the daughter of Zion is left as a cottage in a vineyard, as a lodge in a garden of cucumbers, as a besieged city. Except the LORD of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah,” Isaiah 1:4-9.
In the end it did become as Sodom and Gomorrah and God’s judgment fell upon Judah in the days of Jeremiah!
Hymn
The old hymn, directed at obstinate sinners, may be applied to a nation, our nation, most aptly!
There’s a line that is drawn by rejecting our Lord,
Where the call of His Spirit is lost,
And you hurry along with the pleasure-mad throng –
Have you counted, have you counted the cost?

Have you counted the cost, if your soul should be lost
Tho’ you gain the whole world for your own?
Even now it may be that the line you have crossed,

Sadly, I fear, under the beguiling and benighting influences of ecumenical false prophets, the people of the United Kingdom have cast away the gospel from them.
I am sure it will be understood when I make a difference with regards the six counties of Northern Ireland, for we have ever been perceived as backward and out of touch because the truth of God is still reverenced by a large portion of the people. It must be stated that the number of such is declining and if there is not a turning and repenting amongst us, then that LINE mentioned in the hymn will be tragically crossed here also.
“Turn us again, O LORD God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved,” Psalm 80:19.
