52nd Anniversary of the opening of Kilskeery Free Presbyterian Hall

Yesterday, the congregation of Kilskeery Free Presbyterian Church, marked its 52nd anniversary with messages by the minister, Rev Samuel Fitton, and a special season of prayer in the afternoon.

You may listen to Rev Fitton’s messages here:

Here are pictures from that event 52 years ago, on August 17th, 1974, and published in a previous marking of the anniversary.

The crowd that attended the opening service.

The men involved in the start of the witness. (L to R) Mr George Somerville, the late Mr Robert Edwards, who gifted the site, the late Mr Hugh Gallagher, Mr Ivan Morrison [holding a book], Mr Jackie Neville, the late Mr George Morrison.
It is soul-stirring to look back and rejoice in the labours of so many who raised the hall who are now in glory.

‘One by one their seats were empty,
One by one they went away.’

We are thankful to the Lord that He has maintained the witness of the hall, which in 1977 was constituted as a Free Presbyterian Church congregation.

In February 1978 I became the pastor of the small flock.

The following year, Kilskeery Independent Christian School was commenced under the principalship of Mrs Ann Foster BA, now too in glory since June 8th, 2024.

Mrs Foster (nee Beattie) when I first met her in a Young People’s Fellowship meeting in Ravenhill Free Presbyterian Church, September 11th 1964 — soon to be 62 years ago.

May the Lord answer the prayers offered yesterday, and on many previous occasions, for ‘showers of blessing’ to fall upon the whole Kilskeery district and far beyond.

The late Queen annoyed by Ian Paisley!

Mary McAleese, President of Ireland in 2007; by Griffith College Marketing team

Former Irish President Mary McAleese says Queen Elizabeth ‘abhorred’ Ian Paisley and his politics

So reads the headline in an article in today’s ‘Belfast Telegraph’. (15.8.26).

As to whether the report of the Queen’s words is true, I would need more evidence before I would accept the word of arch-hater of Ulster Protestants, Mary McAleese.

Nazis

I made this comment regarding her in 2010.

‘The Irish Republic is more clearly reflected in the 2005 speech by President Mary McAleese at the sixtieth anniversary of Auschwitz concentration camp’s liberation when she likened Ulster Protestants to Nazis for, she claimed, some Protestants taught their children to hate Roman Catholics just as the Nazis taught their offspring to hate Jews. The Irish Republic is no haven for Protestants as its dwindling Protestant population demonstrates.’

I wonder what the Queen thought of those comments, more vicious and untrue than anything attributed, unfairly, to Dr Ian Paisley by his enemies!

Thousands of those Protestant ‘Nazis’ responded to the call to arms in World War II, in common with their fellow citizens of the United Kingdom from England, Scotland and Wales, along with allies from across the world. The Irish Republic, of which Mary McAleese later became President, remained neutral and even officially ‘mourned’ the death of Hitler!

As an Irish Republican, she will happily use lies and slander against those she hates, believing, as her church teaches her, that when used in a ‘good cause’, untruths and falsehoods are legitimate!

Anything that Dr Paisley ever said by way of criticism of the activities of the late Queen Elizabeth II, was factual and scriptural.

Her ignoring of the teaching of the Bible, that she would have publicly spoken of in an honouring fashion, has reaped a sad harvest amongst her offspring.

The present king is married to the woman who was his mistress for many years and the cause of the breaking up of his marriage to the late Princess Diane.

Sadly, the late Queen failed to express in a tangible fashion, any abhorrence of the wickedness of her son as did the Church of England of which she was the titular head, now the position occupied by her ungodly son. In fact she endorsed his wickedness.

I fear that the Lord had words she would have found more dreadful than anything of Ian Paisley’s words, that were reported to her!

The day when surrender is the message of the Lord! Part 3

The weeping prophet Jeremiah

“And unto this people thou shalt say, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I set before you the way of life, and the way of death. He that abideth in this city shall die by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence: but he that goeth out, and falleth to the Chaldeans that besiege you, he shall live, and his life shall be unto him for a prey. For I have set my face against this city for evil, and not for good, saith the LORD: it shall be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire,” Jeremiah 21:8-10.

“But the nations that bring their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him, those will I let remain still in their own land, saith the LORD; and they shall till it, and dwell therein. I spake also to Zedekiah king of Judah according to all these words, saying, Bring your necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him and his people, and live,” Jeremiah 27:11-12.

WHAT PROPHECY SAYS OF US HERE IN THE BRITISH ISLES?

I believe we can find the mind of God in the Bible for these ‘British Isles’.

The territories of the ancient Roman Empire will be assembled again as a political and religious unit in the days before  Christ’s return.

We are specifically told that in the interpretation Daniel gave to Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, of the dream that he had.

Great Image

“Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image. This great image, whose brightness was excellent, stood before thee; and the form thereof was terrible. This image’s head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass, his legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay. Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces. Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth,” Daniel 2:31-35.

Daniel went on to explain the dream.

“This is the dream; and we will tell the interpretation thereof before the king. Thou, O king, art a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory. And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold. And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth. And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things: and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise. And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters’ clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay. And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken. And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay. And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever. Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure,”  verses 36-45.

We must note that “the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure”. This will most certainly come to pass.

These four great kingdoms are Babylon, the Medes and the Persians, the Grecian Kingdom and finally, the Empire of Rome.

The fourth kingdom

The Millennial Kingdom that the Lord will set up, is manifested in the closing days of the final of these four earthly kingdoms. Click to read more…

'Comfort for a worm' - Dr Ian Paisley

Here is a recording of Dr Paisley preaching on the subject ‘Comfort for a worm’ in August 1967.

It was his 21st anniversary as minister of Ravenhill Free Presbyterian Church.

Sermon

It was sent to me by a grandson who was thus by this means able to share in what his grandfather rejoiced in for many years.

Those who can look back to those times will rejoice again to hear the voice and the preaching of a man, who in his heyday, was the greatest preacher in 100 years that Ulster ever was privileged to hear.

I appeal to today’s young Free Presbyterians to listen to the voice of authentic Free Presbyterianism.

Sincerely in Christ’s name,
Ivan Foster

Sinn Fein's latest IRA commemoration . . . 'coat-trailing glorification' of Provo killer

This is the substance of an article by Adam Kula in ‘The Belfast Newsletter’ this morning (12.8.26).

It is found under the headline:  Sinn Fein’s latest IRA commemoration described as ‘atrocious’ and ‘coat-trailing glorification’ of Provo killer

Thomas McElwee was an IRA terrorist murderer who took his own life in prison.

Where will such a person spend eternity?

I will let the Bible, God’s infallible Word, answer that solemn question.

“But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and MURDERERS, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death,” Revelation 21:8.

News reporters are not inclined to state this truth, but that is how God states the matter for all to know and take heed.

Yvonne Dunlop, 27, was killed in an IRA firebombing campaign in Ballymena

The report states:

The latest IRA commemoration by Sinn Fein has been labelled “atrocious” by the UUP leader, while a man bereaved by the Provos has hit out at “depraved” republican ideology.

Jon Burrows MLA and Geoffrey Dunlop were reacting to Sinn Fein’s involvement in a graveyard commemoration of Thomas McElwee in Bellaghy in south Co Londonderry on Sunday.

Geoffrey Dunlop had been aged four years old when his mother Yvonne was killed by a firebomb planted by McElwee, and he has now accused the party of “coat-trailing, politically-motivated glorification” of the killer.

Mr Burrows meanwhile said “Sinn Fein cannot credibly claim to represent everyone while continuing to honour those responsible for murder”.

Michelle O’Neill was among those in attendence in Bellaghy on Sunday, and fellow Sinn Fein MLA for Mid Ulster Emma Sheerin was the main speaker at the gathering.

Ms Sheerin posted about it online afterwards (as did several local branches of Sinn Fein) and she described McElwee as “the best of us”, saying “he gave his life on hunger strike for Ireland, and for us all”.

Mr Burrows said: “Emma Sheerin MLA has described Thomas McElwee as ‘the best of us’.

“He was nothing of the kind.

“A man who burned a young mother to death was one of the worst of us, and no amoun of eulogy will change that.

“Looking forward does not mean excusing terrorism, glorifying its perpetrators or disregarding the lifelong suffering of innocent victims and their families.”

Mr Dunlop (whose brothers Denis and Terry were aged eight and seven respectively when their mother was killed) said: “We just can’t understand why Sinn Fein continue to think it is OK to hurt our family.

“They claim one of their core policies is violence against women and girls.

“What about our mummy’s life – was it worth nothing because of what she happened to be born by birth?”

According to the book Lost Lives, Mrs Dunlop had been aged 27 when she died in an IRA bombing of her father’s shop, Alley Katz Boutique, in Ballymena’s Bridge Street, on October 9, 1976.

It was one of 16 linked firebomb attacks across the town, and McElwee was one of several IRA men convicted over the attacks.

The blind gullibility of Ulster's ecumenical 'Protestantism'!

Marching bands praised as Ulster-Scots heritage showcased at all-Ireland Fleadh

‘Roll on 2027’ as Fleadh 2026 comes to an end

Such have been the local headlines in the wake of the recent  ‘All Ireland Fleadh’ in Belfast.

DUP Deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly attended Sunday to aid Sinn Fein launch this event.

Ecumenism, and those deceived by the modern and false philosophy it propagates, enthusiastically embraced this latest Republican scam.

It was not merely a musical function but it was an exercise designed to promote Romanism and the culture its unbiblical religion promotes. The spirit of Sinn Fein undergirded the whole  exercise; concealed yes, but emerging clearly for all to see was the conniving hand of Sinn Fein.

The sham was not really that hard to spot by those who were not blinded by the likes of Alf McCreary of the ‘Belfast Telegraph’ or deceived by the likes of the Deputy First Minister, Emma Little-Pengelly of the DUP, who happily desecrated the Sabbath in order to aid Sinn Fein launch this exercise in deception.

It is likely the case that not all involved in the musical activities were aware of what underlay the activities, but that did not make them any less part of the deception.

Surfaced

The dark and evil spirit that underlay the activities broke the surface on occasions.

Here is just a glimpse of the what lay behind the whistles and fiddles!

Republican band’s performance in Belfast city centre during the Fleadh was ‘last straw for many unionists’

Stormont Speaker to write to Chief Constable after pro-IRA song ‘mistakenly’ played to food van customers at Fleadh

DUP MLA Edwin Poots, Speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly

The ‘Stormont Speaker’, Edwin Poots, is a leading member of the DUP, which promoted this deceitful musical ‘hullabaloo’. How utterly hypocritical of him and his fellow DUPers to belatedly voice concern!

While this ‘sweet-sounding ecumenical extravaganza’ was charming the  easily deceived amongst the Protestant and Loyalist community, Sinn Fein was maintaining its true strategy elsewhere!

Anger as Sinn Fein targets Royal Black ‘Last Saturday’ parade

Village’s Protestants halve in 20 years – Orangeman blames sectarian hostility

These two headlines show that there was evidence elsewhere of what Irish Republicanism is truly like.

What will it take, apart from the total rejection of deceitful voices like that of Alf McCreary, to awaken Ulster to the wicked chicanery of that unholy alliance of Irish Republicanism and the pontificating Ecumenists and their lies?

Is it not a case of that which Paul seeks to warn the Corinthians? Click to read more…

A CONTENTMENT born of COLD INDIFFERENCE and an ANGUISH born of a LOVE FOR CHRIST!

Fools make a mockery of sin, photo by Austin Lowman on Unsplash

For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you,” 1 Corinthians 1:11.

Commenting on the above verse, Dr John Gill said:

‘The person the apostle speaks of was one that very probably lived at Corinth, and was a member of the church there, and at the head of a family of great worth and credit; who being grieved at the growing animosities, and disturbances there raised, wrote to the apostle, and gave him a distinct account of them, desiring him to use his interest to put a stop to them.’

Here was a grief that was born out of a love for the Saviour and a distress born out of a holy jealousy for the honour of His name and His cause, which had been stigmatised by the divisions and sins in Corinth!

I believe that there is such distress aplenty within the ranks of the Free Presbyterian Church at present. Such is not wrong but most proper and good.

The Lord is grieved at sin

Sin amongst the people of God grieves the Lord!

“Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness: when your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years. Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways. So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.) take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God,” (Hebrews 3:8-12.

Those who “have the mind of Christ” will share in that grief and vexation. It is impossible for the holy person to avoid being grieved at the state of the Free Presbyterian Church at present.

Mocked

There are ministers and elders who publicly have mocked the idea that there has been a departure from the path upon which our founding fathers stepped out in 1951.

Such a view is born of either indifference to the reality of the backsliding all around today or of an ignorance of the nature of the holy paths ventured upon in Crossgar in March 1951! Click to read more…

The Free Presbyterian Church of Ulster Covenant - Signed 28 February 1988

Part of the copy of the 1988 Covenant which hangs for all to see in the porch of Kilskeery Free Presbyterian Church. I wonder how many other churches, which took part in the signing of the Covenant almost 40 years ago, have their copy on display?

As God providentially raised up Elijah, we believe He is calling out a faithful remnant to maintain a testimony, free from compromise against every opposition of the enemy.

As a separated Church of God, sinners saved by grace and born again of the Holy Spirit, conscious of the violation of God’s commandments so rampant in this evil age, and conscious also that we could have a name to live and be dead, we humble ourselves before God and solemnly covenant together, by His grace, to stand with Christ in this evil day, for all that He is for, and against all that He is against.

As worshippers of the one God of heaven and earth, in the Trinity of His sacred persons, Father Son and Holy Spirit, to whom be all honour and glory for ever, Amen.

As a Witness to the whole Word of God, the Bible, in its sixty-six books, verbally inspired by God the Holy Ghost, as the final authority on all matters of Doctrine, Faith and Practice – the infallible Word of God to man.

As a witness to the Infallibility of the Person and Word of our Lord Jesus Christ, Who was and is God — God manifest in the flesh by the Virgin birth, and essentially not only Son of God but God the Son.

To maintain Testimony to the Glory and Honour of the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ in His three mediatorial offices, Prophet, Priest and King. He alone is the sole King and only head of the Church.

To maintain a Testimony to the Crown Rights of Jesus Christ as King of kings and Lord of lords, the Prince of Kings of this earth and Governor among the nations.

To maintain Testimony to the Gospel of Free Grace of Almighty God and the Power of the Precious Blood of the Lamb, in a day of apostasy, declension and compromise.

To maintain a Testimony to the truth of Christ against the lie of the Roman anti-Christ, the supernaturalism of Christianity against the anti-supernaturalism and modernism-called, the divine unity of the Church against the delusive uniformity of the ecumenical movement headed up in the World Council of Churches, the doctrine of the Holy Spirit’s infilling against the deceptions of charismatic fanaticism and the fervour of true Christian zeal against the formality of a dead and defunct orthodoxy.

“We preach Christ Crucified,” His Virgin Birth, His Vicarious Death, His Victorious Resurrection, His Vivid Ascension, His Vitalising Intercession and His Visible Appearing.

These blessings and this complete victory of our adorable Lord are secured and sealed to us by the precious blood of the eternal Covenant. Heb 13:20-21

“Earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints”  Jude 3.

“Wherefore, take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” Ephesians 6:13

The price of breaking a covenant with the Lord

“This is the word that came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, after that the king Zedekiah had made a covenant with all the people which were at Jerusalem, to proclaim liberty unto them; that every man should let his manservant, and every man his maidservant, being an Hebrew or an Hebrewess, go free; that none should serve himself of them, to wit, of a Jew his brother. Now when all the princes, and all the people, which had entered into the covenant, heard that every one should let his manservant, and every one his maidservant, go free, that none should serve themselves of them any more, then they obeyed, and let them go. But afterward they turned, and caused the servants and the handmaids, whom they had let go free, to return, and brought them into subjection for servants and for handmaids.

Therefore the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; I made a covenant with your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondmen, saying, at the end of seven years let ye go every man his brother an Hebrew, which hath been sold unto thee; and when he hath served thee six years, thou shalt let him go free from thee: but your fathers hearkened not unto me, neither inclined their ear. And ye were now turned, and had done right in my sight, in proclaiming liberty every man to his neighbour; and ye had made a covenant before me in the house which is called by my name: but ye turned and polluted my name, and caused every man his servant, and every man his handmaid, whom ye had set at liberty at their pleasure, to return, and brought them into subjection, to be unto you for servants and for handmaids.

Therefore thus saith the LORD; Ye have not hearkened unto me, in proclaiming liberty, every one to his brother, and every man to his neighbour: behold, I proclaim a liberty for you, saith the LORD, to the sword, to the pestilence, and to the famine; and I will make you to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth,” Jeremiah 34:8-17.

I read these words on August 6th, and saw how offensive to the Lord were the actions of the rulers of Jerusalem when they made a covenant with those in their service in keeping with that commandment the Lord had established for Israel and recorded in Exodus 21:2:

“If thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing”.

Sadly, they had almost immediately gone back on it and forced those liberated back into bondage. Upon reading this, I thought of the ‘Covenant’ made before the Lord that the ministers, elders committee men and members of the Free Presbyterian Church entered into on 28h February 1988, the 350th anniversary of ‘The National Covenant of Scotland’. To read this 1988 Covenant, click here.

Part of the copy of the 1988 Covenant which hangs for all to see in the porch of Kilskeery Free Presbyterian Church. I wonder how many other churches, which took part in the signing of the Covenant almost 40 years ago, have their copy on display?

It was a Covenant which may be summarised by the synopsis, “To stand faithfully for all that Christ is for and  against all that He is against.”

Most of the older Free Presbyterian ministers, office-bearers and members would have signed that Covenant.

I must say that there are many who have failed to faithfully keep that which they solemnly swore to uphold before the Lord, by signing their name to the Covenant! Click to read more…

The day when surrender is the message of the Lord! Part 2

“The word which came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and all his army, and all the kingdoms of the earth of his dominion, and all the people, fought against Jerusalem, and against all the cities thereof, saying, Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; Go and speak to Zedekiah king of Judah, and tell him, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire: and thou shalt not escape out of his hand, but shalt surely be taken, and delivered into his hand; and thine eyes shall behold the eyes of the king of Babylon, and he shall speak with thee mouth to mouth, and thou shalt go to Babylon. Yet hear the word of the LORD, O Zedekiah king of Judah; Thus saith the LORD of thee, Thou shalt not die by the sword: but thou shalt die in peace: and with the burnings of thy fathers, the former kings which were before thee, so shall they burn odours for thee; and they will lament thee, saying, Ah lord! for I have pronounced the word, saith the LORD,” Jeremiah 34:1-5.

I. THE MESSAGE OF GOD TO HIS FAITHFUL PEOPLE IN A DAY OF APOSTASY IS ‘SURRENDER’!

“He that abideth in this city shall die by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence: but he that goeth out, and falleth to the Chaldeans that besiege you, he shall live, and his life shall be unto him for a prey,” Jeremiah 21:9.

I can recall, as if it were yesterday, Dr S B Cooke, in my first year in the Homiletics class in 1965, say of the message of God given to Jeremiah that, ‘to preach surrender in a day of apostasy is the most difficult message any man will ever be required to preach, especially here in Ulster!’

I know now that he was saying it to us with an understanding of just what was coming upon ‘Protestant Ulster’!

Proof

Good figs, photo by Quin Engle on Unsplash

On July 28th, I read Jeremiah 24 where there is given to us the ‘parable’ of the ‘two baskets of figs’. One had ‘very good figs’ and the other had ‘very naughty (disagreeable, unpleasant) figs’.

The Lord was picturing by the ‘good figs’, those who surrendered to His just judgment for their sins and yielded to Nebuchadrezzar and went into captivity, Jeremiah 24:1.

“Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; Like these good figs, so will I acknowledge them that are carried away captive of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans for their good. For I will set mine eyes upon them for good, and I will bring them again to this land: and I will build them, and not pull them down; and I will plant them, and not pluck them up. And I will give them an heart to know me, that I am the LORD: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart,” Jeremiah 24:4-7.

The unpleasant figs, however, represented those who rejected the justice of God in His punishing of their sins by Nebuchadrezzar and his army, and resisted him and perished as result. Click to read more…

Dancing to the Republican tune

Reared Protestant and unionist, the Fleadh in Belfast has many layers for me… it’s a revelation that shows we can be brought together

So pontificated the Belfast Telegraph’s ‘Apostle of Ecumenism’, Alf McCreary!

‘The Fleadh’ is a gathering of musicians setting out to promote the culture of Irish Republicanism. It is being very successful thanks to the efforts of the Belfast Telegraph, the local BBC and of course the Democratic Unionist Party!

I have often thought of a verse in Genesis whenever I think of the disposition that the Irish Roman Catholic has for ‘traditional’ music.

Amongst the descendants of Cain, the murderer and hater of God’s truth, was one ‘Jubal’.

“And his brother’s name was Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ,” Genesis 4:21.

Music has a place in the purpose and worship of God. Such music is distinct from that which springs up from the sinful impulses of man’s depraved heart and is a means of ‘consoling’ those who have no knowledge of God or enjoyment of His mercy and grace.

There is a classification of music that I once saw characterised as being centred upon ‘men in a bar, sorrowfully crying in their beer over a lost love’!

That is the world’s song!

The music of this world is a means of ‘comfort’, needed by those who are lacking in any of the comforts that true faith in Christ will bring.

The Saviour’s invitation is: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light,” Matthew 11:28-30.

Those who reject that loving invitation turn to the ‘pleasures of sin’ for rest and relief from the burdens of life.

The pub and céilí is theIrishman’s traditional alternative to the comforts of the Gospel. The most popular Irish songs are songs narrating loneliness, departure, farewells and tragedy!

The Christian, on the other hand delights to unite with other believers to sing a different song:

Let us sing of his love once again,
Of the love that can never decay,
Of the blood of the Lamb who was slain,
Till we praise him again in that day.

Consequently, it is not surprising to see Alf McCreary and the  rest of the ‘Ecumenical Camp’ extolling the wonders of ‘The Fleadh’!

DUP

Nor is it surprising that the DUP have joined in the promoting of this ‘Republican Propaganda’ exercise.

First Minister Michelle O’Neill and deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly attended the official launch of the week-long Fleadh Cheoil

That visit took place on Lord’s Day, August 2nd. Sabbath breaking means nothing to the DUP.

?????

How can Free Presbyterians be in membership of this godless political organisation or support it in any way?

Another example of the ‘sucking in’ of the blind and benighted, so-called Protestants, was given us in the local BBC news, today (6.8.26).

‘New territory’ as marching band musicians prepare for the Fleadh

DUP Belfast Councillor, Tracy Kelly

The BBC article indicates that DUP Belfast Councillor, Tracy Kelly was one of the instigators of this Republican ‘Propaganda Coup’!

It is but the latest in an ongoing series of successful manoeuvres by Sinn Fein that has left Unionism totally ‘outfoxed’ — not for the first time nor for the last!

Appearing religiously and politically ‘WOKE’ is the consuming aspiration of the DUP, irrespective of principles, truth or professed allegiance to the cause of Ulster!

The day when the message of the Lord is ‘surrender’! Part 1

“‭But the nations‭ that bring‭‭ their neck‭ under the yoke‭ of the king‭ of Babylon‭, and serve‭‭ him, those will I let remain still‭‭ in their own land‭, saith‭ the LORD‭; and they shall till‭‭ it, and dwell‭‭ therein.‭ ‭I spake‭‭ also to Zedekiah‭ king‭ of Judah‭ according to all these words‭, saying‭‭, Bring‭‭ your necks‭ under the yoke‭ of the king‭ of Babylon‭, and serve‭‭ him and his people‭, and live‭‭,” Jeremiah 27:11-12.

King Zedekiah has sent messengers unto Jeremiah, Pashur the son of Melchiah, and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest (not the same Pashur who was judged of God for his abuse of Jeremiah, 20:1-6). The request they made of the prophet was, “Enquire, I pray thee, of the LORD for us; for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon maketh war against us; if so be that the LORD will deal with us according to all his wondrous works, that he may go up from us,” Jeremiah 21:2.

The prophet Jeremiah prophesies the fall of Jerusalem to King Zedekiah, by Joseph Stallaert (1825–1903)

We may date this encounter with Jeremiah about one year before the fall of Jerusalem in BC 588!

Jeremiah had been preaching for some 40 years by this time, preaching what he had begun to preach as a young man, even the message given him by the Lord.

“But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak,” Jeremiah 1:7.

What that message was is stated for us in the same chapter 1.

“And the word of the LORD came unto me the second time, saying, What seest thou? And I said, I see a seething pot; and the face thereof is toward the north. Then the LORD said unto me, Out of the north an evil shall break forth upon all the inhabitants of the land. For, lo, I will call all the families of the kingdoms of the north, saith the LORD; and they shall come, and they shall set every one his throne at the entering of the gates of Jerusalem, and against all the walls thereof round about, and against all the cities of Judah. And I will utter my judgments against them touching all their wickedness, who have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, and worshipped the works of their own hands. Thou therefore gird up thy loins, and arise, and speak unto them all that I command thee: be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound thee before them. For, behold, I have made thee this day a defenced city, and an iron pillar, and brasen walls against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof, and against the people of the land. And they shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the LORD, to deliver thee,” Jeremiah 1:13-19.

So, after all the years of preaching the same message and issuing forth, in the plainest of terms, and suffering much affliction for so doing, the last of the wicked kings upon the throne of Judah STILL doesn’t understand the message of God! He is still blindly hoping that the Lord will come to their aid! Click to read more…
