It was that consummate and polished Nazi liar, Joseph Goebbels, who said:
“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”
That is the strategy of the devil. The Lord Jesus said of him: “He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it,” John 8:44.
The Saviour tells us in these words that the devil does not abide in the truth. The first use of the Greek word translated ‘abode’ (histemi) is found in Matthew 2:9. “When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was”, ‘stood over’ is our word. The devil does not stand near or over the truth. Furthermore, the Saviour tells us that the devil is the ‘father’, the ‘ancestor, the generator’ of lies.
Every lie may be traced back to him!
Joseph Goebbels definition of the ‘big lie’ aptly describes the tactic employed by the advocates of the variety of perversions which are lumped together under the acronym LGBT+. Such a term is ‘an abbreviation consisting of initial letters pronounced separately’. That is the umbrella term for the immoral perversities which, while always present amongst the inhabitants of the world, has emerged as a blighting flood upon nations in very recent times!
That ‘LGBT+ism’ is old may be seen in God prohibition of such behaviour as it is set down in His Law “Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination,” Leviticus 18:22. “The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God,” Deuteronomy 22:5.
Of course, God’s denunciations of such practices made no difference to those given over to such perversions. It means nothing to them to defy the Lord and ignore and scorn His warnings of the eternal consequences of such wickedness.
When Paul wrote to the Church of Christ in Corinth he indicates that some of those converted were delivered from such practices, common amongst the heathen nations.
“Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God,” 1 Corinthians 6:9-11.
An example of the use of the ‘big lie’ today may be seen in an article published in the ‘Belfast Telegraph’ of Thursday, April 30th, 2023, reproduced below. The writer of the article is stated to be ‘John Laverty’.
The essence of the ‘big lie’ in this article is that ‘you can be gay and be a Christian’!
That is a ‘very big lie’ and is straight from the ‘pen’, as it were, of the author of lies, the devil. Mr Laverty is very wrong and flies in the face of the Word of the One Who alone may define what a ‘Christian’ is.
A Christian is a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ. “And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch,” Acts 11:26. The word ‘disciple’ means ‘a learner, pupil’. Mary displayed the persona and the posture of a true disciple. “Mary, . . sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word,” Luke 10:39. The Lord Jesus said of His disciples: “Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free,” John 8:31-32. “If ye love me, keep my commandments,” John 14:15. Obedience to the Word of God is the ESSENTIAL mark of the true follower of Christ.
Mr Laverty makes no mention of the Word of God in his defence of the latter-day perverts. Rather, he ‘preaches up’ the beliefs and views of one, Dr Kearney, That is no defence of the cause of the LGBT+ lifestyle. We must bring all our notions to the Word of God for evaluation.
“To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them,” Isaiah 8:20.
That was the practice of faithful souls down through the ages and we today seek to follow the example of the early Bereans.
“ These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so,” Acts 17:11.
Mr Laverty, and indeed all defenders of perversion, make no mention of God’s Word (except to deny and mock it) when advancing their cause.
Therein is the fatal flaw in their case.
Let it be stated, despite Laverty’s mockery of this truth, that all those who die, rejecting God’s Word and embracing such deceits of that he advocates, will perish everlastingly under God’s wrath.
“For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God,” John 3:17-18.
