Shame on Jim Shannon MP

Jim Shannon, MP for Strangford

HERE IS WHAT A ‘GOOD BAPTIST’ AND MEMBER OF THE DUP WOULD HAVE OTHERS JOIN WITH HIM IN CONGRATULATING AND CELEBRATING!

One has only to read the terms of this motion, tabled for debate at Westminster, to see a professed Christian speaking of Roman Catholic worship and witness in terms that are completely at variance with the Bible and great Baptist stalwarts, such as John Bunyan and C H Spurgeon!

Please note the following terms in the motion:

Mr Shannon expresses ‘appreciation’, for ’50 years of faithful worship and witness . . .’ He also ‘welcomes the celebration of a Mass of thanksgiving . .’ and ‘wishes Father Campbell, Deacon Kenneth McGeechy and the parishioners of Saint Lucy’s all the best as they continue their work and ministry for future generations.’

Mr Shannon is obviously in ignorance of what faithful Baptists in past generations believed and suffered for!

‘In this ordinance Christ is not offered up to his Father, nor any real sacrifice made at all for remission of sin of the quick or dead, but only a memorial of that one offering up of himself by himself upon the cross, once for all; and a spiritual oblation of all possible praise unto God for the same. So that the popish sacrifice of the mass, as they call it, is most abominable, injurious to Christ’s own sacrifice the alone propitiation for all the sins of the elect.’ The 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith

SHAME ON JIM SHANNON, MP AND THE DUP FOR ALLOWING SUCH A MOTION TO BE TABLED BY ONE OF ITS MEMBERS!
