The following letter was sent by Rev Daniel Henderson of Moneyslane Free Presbyterian Church, to Councillor Paul Greenfield, Lord Mayor of the Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council and also to some local newspapers.
We thank him for his stand for the Truth of God.
Dear Lord Mayor,
I am writing to you as a Protestant constituent, very concerned at the recent apathy and compromise that has been displayed by you as Lord Mayor of the Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council.
To say that I was flabbergasted that a DUP Mayor and further to that, a born again believer, would show such a demonstration of sympathy and condolence for one that has been responsible for the delusion of many a soul in our community and ultimately seen others then damned to eternal destruction due to the heresies of Popish Romanism was an understatement. I could not believe that someone of your standing in evangelical circles and with a personal heritage of Free Presbyterian upbringing could do such a thing.
Benedict XVI’s death may have been “deeply felt” – your words, not mine – in our community, but eulogising such a character will only cause eternal harm to the souls of men and women still in their sin. I know that you will be well aware that the Pope of Rome is an Antichrist in the sight of God; I trust that before the Lord and in the public domain you will be willing to repent and apologise in order to make this matter right before God and men.
A very concerned Protestant,
Rev. Daniel I. Henderson.
