Parental opposition to RSE – time will tell how far it will go!

DUP’s Carla Lockhart

The article below appears in today’s (13/9/23) ‘Belfast Telegraph. I welcome the matter of the grossly immoral material of the ‘RSE (relationships and sex education)’, forced upon Northern Ireland secondary schools by our arrogant, ‘double-barrelled buffoon’ of a Secretary of State, Christopher Heaton-Harris, being raised in the House of Commons.

However, I take issue with the notion that ‘Parents in Northern Ireland are genuinely angry, they are fearful, teachers are feeling vulnerable and fearful’, as being a true picture of the response to this evilly invasive interference in the affairs of the educating of children in Ulster, by London ‘Mandarins’!

Yes, there is discontent with the corrupt teaching, born of the liberal and perverted thinking of this God-rejecting age, that is contained in the RSE scheme the children are going to be taught. But I see no signs of an angry response amongst parents that warrants the warning issued by the two DUP MPs — “Interfere in our children at your peril!”

Today’s Protestant parents have embraced the teaching of evolution as a fact, when it is in truth only a theory. They have in like manner tolerated the introduction of literature texts which employ grossly foul language and explicit sexual narratives. They have not manifested any real opposition to the topic of ‘LGBT++ism’ and the pushing of the perverted notions of that element within our society.

Therefore, I see no signs of any real change of attitude amongst parents today toward these latest immoral innovations being introduced to the classrooms of their children.

There have been rallies organised by various groups to highlight the corruptions of this RSE scheme. Have Protestant parents been flocking to them? That is not the case as far as I am informed!

Furthermore, I believe it futile to expect that the London Government will take the slightest notice of such puerile threats in the light of its reaction to very much more vigorous protests against its policies in Ulster.

Drumcree; power-sharing at Stormont; the Northern Ireland Protocol, which saw many public rallies with thousands marching in opposition to its imposition by repeated lies and deceptions — all have testified that the Government is prepared to take on Protestant and Unionist opposition and face it down for it knows from experience that there is no real stomach for the fight.

Proof of that is seen in the reports coming out of late regarding the DUP’s boycott of Stormont over the Northern Ireland Protocol’ arrangements. Headlines of late tell a sadly familiar tale, indicating that yet another ‘surrender’, dressed up as ‘progress and ‘victory’, is about to take place!

Recent headlines have flashed out the danger signs!

DUP in ‘meaningful engagement’ with UK Government over Brexit issues

DUP’s Sir Jeffrey Donaldson ‘hopeful’ of progress in UK Government talks on legal assurances

Stormont powersharing restoration talks making progress, says Heaton-Harris

So the ‘kite-flying’ goes on in preparation for the ‘wonderful news of the DUP’s return to Stormont’ by these ‘champions of Unionism’ and their submission to sit under a Sinn Fein-run Assembly!

This ‘anti-RSE’ campaign will go the same way as have all the other protests for the simple reason there are very few ready to pay the price of outright opposition!

The only true alternative to what the Government plans to accomplish with its ‘classroom pornography’ is Bible-based Independent schools. That is not pushed or even mentioned at the majority of these ‘protests’ and the DUP will certainly not encourage a going down of such a path. It long ago made ecumenically-based ‘Integrated Eduction’ the main plank in its education Policy!

Bible-based ‘Independent Schools’ will cost money for there are no grants, no support whatever from the government for such schools, unlike Roman Catholic schools and Integrated schools which receive all cost of building, maintaining and equipping their buildings and classrooms and paying their teachers. Such a cost is something most parents today do not consider their offspring worthy of! The boozer, the nights out, the annual foreign holiday, a fancy car — these are the true necessity of life which cannot be forfeited!

Such thinking reminds me of those unworthy Hebrew parents in Egypt under the cruel regime of Pharaoh who, as Stephen said in Acts 7:18-19, “Dealt subtilly with our kindred, and evil entreated our fathers, so that they cast out their young children, to the end they might not live.” These parents complied with Pharaoh’s wicked demands and surrendered their children to the slaughter.”

This spirit was not that of the parents of Moses. “By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king’s commandment,” Hebrews 11:23. There is a need again for Christian parents to build schools which may appear to the worldly as mere ‘arks of bullrushes’ but which under God’s blessing will see our little ‘Moses’ delivered from ‘Pharaoh’ Christopher Heaton-Harris!

In the name of the Lord I would say to the London dictators that there is ‘peril’ awaiting those who act so contrary to the Word of God as to impose upon schoolchildren the evil thinking of a hell-inspired troop of perverts who have risen to positions of influence within Government.

These words of the Saviour need to read and feared by all engaged in this nefarious scheme.

“And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea,” Mark 9:42.

To the Protestant parents of Ulster, the vast majority of whom will invariably go along with this evil scheme, I repeat a verse from a chapter directed at those who had turned their back on God and defied His truth and rejected His ordinances. Their actions resulted in much suffering amongst their offspring. I say to them that what God said some 2600 years ago to a disobedient people, pictures in what they literally did in the treatment of their offspring, what many parents today are spiritually doing to theirs!

“Moreover thou hast taken thy sons and thy daughters, whom thou hast borne unto me, and these hast thou sacrificed unto them to be devoured. Is this of thy whoredoms a small matter, That thou hast slain my children, and delivered them to cause them to pass through the fire for them?”  Ezekiel 16:20-21.

I commend to our readers this 16th chapter of the book of Ezekiel, scheduled for today in Robert Murray M‘Cheyne’s Bible Reading Calendar.

It paints in vivid colours, the dreadful harvest of judgment that will be visited upon a people who defy God and cast away His mercy and truth.

I believe that Ulster will reap this harvest if it persists in following the teaching of the latter-day false prophets who occupy the pulpits of the mainline churches.

Sincerely in Christ’s name,

NI parents ‘angry’ over sex education reforms, Commons told

Richard Wheeler and Martina Bet, PA

UK ministers have been warned to “interfere in our children at your peril” as DUP MPs criticised updates to sex education in Northern Ireland.

Westminster earlier this year approved regulations designed to ensure pupils in Northern Ireland receive age-appropriate information about access to contraception and abortion services.

But the move faced renewed opposition on Tuesday evening during a Commons debate led by the DUP’s Carla Lockhart.

The MP for Upper Bann said: “One thing I have learnt in my time in politics is you mess with children’s education at your peril, you don’t meddle in issues where parents are and should be first educators and you certainly don’t do it without consulting and engaging with parents, teachers and boards of governors.

“Parents in Northern Ireland are genuinely angry, they are fearful, teachers are feeling vulnerable and fearful, and yet this Government continues on a track of potential wide-reaching changes to RSE (relationships and sex education) teaching in post-primary Northern Ireland.”

DUP MP Ian Paisley (North Antrim) said people have been campaigning on the issue of “letting kids be kids”, adding: “Isn’t this the important message, as she’s rightly said, interfere in our children at your peril?

“It will not be tolerated by people across the community in Northern Ireland and isn’t that the message the Secretary of State (Chris Heaton-Harris) should hear loud and clear?”

Conservative whip Robert Largan, replying for the Government, said Mr Heaton-Harris moved the regulations this year to implement the “clear will of Parliament with respect to sexual and reproductive health education in Northern Ireland”.

He said: “When passing the Northern Ireland (Executive Formation) Act 2019 this Parliament in a free vote, and by an overwhelming majority, voted to impose a duty on the Secretary of State to implement in full the recommendations made by the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women.”

On the consultation, Mr Largan said: “On September 1, the Department for Education launched a consultation on the guidance and the opt-out regulations. This will run for 12 weeks until November 24.

“I strongly encourage members who feel strongly to engage in that consultation.

“Northern Ireland Office officials will continue to work closely with the Department for Education as they work towards implementation of the curriculum.”

He went on: “I would like to reiterate the Government has only stepped in when necessary on this issue to deliver on its statutory duty.

“In bringing forward these regulations, the UK Government did not set a new policy direction, but rather gave effect to a decision taken by Parliament in 2019 by an overwhelming majority in a free vote.”
