One thing Boris did not say

Outgoing PM Boris Johnson

While listening to the unfolding of events in London today, with Boris Johnston resigning his post as Conservative Party leader and Prime Minister in humiliation and ignominy, I was reminded of the wonderful old text of God’s Word.

“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap,”Galatians 6:7.

I noticed that he described the system of politics here as ‘Darwinian’ and that it would continue and provide leadership for the nation.

If only he realised how ironically true his words are. ‘Darwinianism’ is another name for the false notion of ‘evolution’, which claims that things are improving and getting better. The opposite is the case of course, as the testimony of every graveyard declares.

Boris will be followed by one who will prove and even greater failure.

So says the Word of God.

“But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived,”2 Timothy 3:13.

As a result of the turmoil in London, we in Northern Ireland now have a new Secretary of State, Shailesh Vara. He is a Hindu!!!

Meanwhile, one of the likely contenders for the vacant position of Conservative Party leader and Prime Minister is Nadhim Zahawi, recently appointed replacement Chancellor of the Exchequer. He is a Muslim, born in Baghdad in 1967.

However, there was:

ONE THING BORIS DID NOT SAY IN HIS RESIGNATION SPEECH

He pointed the finger at a number of causes BUT the true and sovereign cause he did not mention, being ignorant of that truth!

He did not mention the role a sovereign God played in his fall!

“Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts,” Jeremiah 2:19.

As the Egyptians of old said: “This is the finger of God,” Exodus 8:19.

This Boris Johnson did not recognise because of his blindness to all things eternal and true.Sad to say, few even amongst Christians will have such perception as did the pagan Egyptian magicians!

Certainly none of the political pundits will see it as they did.

For the Bible-believer, it is all like sitting on the top deck of a double-decker tour bus, surveying the passing events around us, as this age draws to a close!!
