Try as I might, I could not ignore these comments by Peter Robinson, who was one of the main architects of the ‘power-sharing’ deal with Sinn Fein/IRA in 2006/7.
That was the political catalyst that has brought about the disastrous situation that Unionists find themselves in today!

I saw this ‘Belfast telegraph’ headline this morning, when it was sent to me by a friend, and could do nothing other than smile!
“Peter Robinson responds to ex-DUP man’s ‘new Ireland’ prediction: ‘Defeat will first originate in your head’”
The former party leader has responded to comments made by DUP co-founder Wallace Thompson
The ‘comments’ referred to by Mr Robinson were those of Mr Wallace Thompson who is described in a Belfast Telegraph’ article, an interview with him by Mr Sam McBride, as: “ . . . a Paisleyite, a founding member of the DUP, a former special adviser to Nigel Dodds, and a leading evangelical Protestant, but Wallace Thompson now believes a form of Irish unity is inevitable — and he’s willing to consider it.”
What I found laughable in Mr Robinson’s comment was the brazen assumption that every Unionist in Northern Ireland will have forgotten that the ‘defeat’ Peter Robinson is referring to, originated in the ‘heads’ of the DUP leadership, who in a fit of political greed and an unbridled desire for political advance, sold out to Sinn Fein/IRA and placed them in the place of power, which they, with devilish cunning, have used to seize the domination they now enjoy!
The police, as recent events showed, the British Government, the Civil Service and politically, ‘all things things great and small’, constantly ‘kowtow’ to those who unabashedly laud and rejoice in the years of terrorist activity their fellow Sinn Feiners initiated!
A ‘United Ireland’ is inevitable because the DUP, the Ecumenical Churches, blindly followed by beguiled ‘so-called Protestants’ have gone down a path signally marked by an over-throw of all that our Bible-believing forefathers faithfully adhered to.
Such apostasy has made certain that we will find ourselves subjugated by those, who in times past, our forefathers sought the help of God to be delivered from. The policy and practice of faithful unionists of old was ‘For God And Ulster’!
That was abandoned by the aforementioned culprits long ago!
God is not ‘abandoned’ ‘rejected’ and ‘despised’ with impunity! His Word makes that clear. The text at the head of this article declares plainly where a foolish disobedient people’s destruction comes from. A people who turn from the clear guidance of God’s Word on all things spiritual, moral and political, will reap an inevitable harvest.
In the history of God’s people in the Old Testament era, Israel was frequently overrun by her enemies, those whom in better days she had triumphed over, as a result of her sin!
Here are verses which declare that simple fact.
“For so it was, that the children of Israel had sinned against the LORD their God, which had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods, and walked in the statutes of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they had made. And the children of Israel did secretly those things that were not right against the LORD their God, and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city. And they set them up images and groves in every high hill, and under every green tree: and there they burnt incense in all the high places, as did the heathen whom the LORD carried away before them; and wrought wicked things to provoke the LORD to anger: for they served idols, whereof the LORD had said unto them, Ye shall not do this thing. Yet the LORD testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets, and by all the seers, saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets. Notwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the LORD their God. And they rejected his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified against them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and went after the heathen that were round about them, concerning whom the LORD had charged them, that they should not do like them. And the LORD rejected all the seed of Israel, and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, until he had cast them out of his sight,” 2 Kings 17:7-20.
“O Israel, return unto the LORD thy God; for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity,” Hosea 14:1.
“But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death,” Proverbs 8:36.
“Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him,” Isaiah 3:11.
There is a multitude of such texts, spelling out the reaction of the Lord to man’s folly and wickedness. That which Israel reaped, many, many other nations have reaped and Ulster will not escape the harvest of its rebellion, led by Ecumenists and by greedy, time-serving DUP politicians.
I have not bothered to read what Wallace Thompson said in his interview but I would doubt very much that what he did say was Bible-based.
I have in a number of articles in the past set forth what I believe prophecy has to say regarding the future of the island of Ireland, especially in the days of the Antichrist.
That day is drawing on and events in the United Kingdom and in many other nations, indeed the world generally, suggest it is drawing on rapidly.
Political quips and wise-cracking pontifications from those who have much to answer for regarding the path of utter folly Ulster took very decisively some sixteen years ago, will not divert this land and the world in general, from what the Lord has purposed for it.
