A timely exposure of the DUP’s hypocrisy!

“For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known,” Luke 12:22.

I think that politicians would especially need to take this to heart and observe its truth.

I am publishing an article written by Mr Sam McBride, the political analyst of the “Belfast News Letter”. It appeared in the edition of Saturday 13th July this year and is reproduced at the end of this article.

The general information of the article is good but one section in his article is what I wish to highlight, and I have highlighted it in bold red type in the body of the article, but I want to further highlight it by quoting here part of what I wish readers to particularly note!

“On Tuesday morning, one experienced DUP figure did not expect Mr McGinn’s amendment to be called but acknowledged that if it was accepted then it was likely to pass. A liberal DUP member, speaking as the debate was ongoing, said of the same-sex marriage amendment: “I think it will go through. I hope it does. I also believe quietly that 50% of DUP members feel the same.”

But while there has been a growing acceptance within the DUP that same-sex marriage was likely to become law, many party members feel more strongly about abortion and did not expect such radical change to pass.” Read more

The Matter of Homosexuality, Lesbianism, Same-Sex Marriages etc.

This article, by Mr Bob Burton, was passed to me by a friend in Australia, brother Paul Owens, to whom it had been sent that he might consider it and inform the writer of his opinion.

Having read the article, I most certainly agree with the writer’s views of the dreadful sin of sodomy and much admire the manner in which he has set forth the teaching of God’s Word on the subject.

I do not personally know Mr Burton but on the basis of what he states here in this article, I believe him to be one who holds fast to God’s Law.

For that reason I am having the article mounted on ‘The Burning Bush’ that it might be shared to the spiritual profit of our many readers. Read more

Philip McGarry: Contrasting words of Pam Morrison and Gerry Adams reflect the better angels of our nature or the worst of our past

Last week saw two very significant and contrasting interpretations of our recent history in Northern Ireland.

The first was the moving testimony of Pam Morrison, speaking publicly for the first time about her three brothers who were separately hunted down and murdered by the IRA in rural Fermanagh in the 1980s.

The second was the funeral of Kevin Mc Kenna (pictured), allegedly a former IRA leader. Read more

It is the duty of the servant of God to warn of coming judgement.

“But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand. So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me. When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand,” Ezekiel 33:6-8.

A watchman must be in contact and communion with the Lord and ‘hearing’ His Word!
The warning he must give is strong and stern! “When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die.” Consequently it is not a welcome message and the messenger will suffer reproach.

But better that than finding the blood of the unwarned wicked required by the Lord at your hand! Read more

Ancient city of Babylon designated Unesco World Heritage Site

There are those who believe that the prophecy of Jeremiah (and other similar prophecies) given in Jeremiah 13:19-22, were fulfilled in the days of Daniel.

Here is what Jeremiah said of the fate of Babylon at the hands of the Lord in judgment.
“And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees’ excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the shepherds make their fold there. But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and owls shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there. And the wild beasts of the islands shall cry in their desolate houses, and dragons in their pleasant palaces: and her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged.” Read more

Israel Folau under attack for his witness against sodomite perversions!

The following information about Mr Israel Folau is taken from the Wikipedia site.

“Israel Folau (Tongan: Isileli Folau; born 3 April 1989) is an Australian professional rugby union player who most recently played for the New South Wales Waratahs in Super Rugby. He has previously played professional rugby league and Australian rules football. In 2019, he became the record holder for most tries scored in Super Rugby history.
Folau’s statements regarding marriage, homosexuality and transgender issues brought him into conflict with the administrators of Rugby Australia (RA), and in 2019 they terminated his contract. Folau has appealed the termination to the Fair Work Commission.

Raised a Mormon, Folau converted to the Assemblies of God Pentecostal church as an adult. In 2017, he dissented from Rugby Australia’s announcement of support for the ‘Yes’ case in the national plebiscite on same-sex marriage, and later expressed the Pentecostal view that gay people should repent or face Hell, earning a rebuke from Rugby Australia. Signed soon after by RA to a four-year contract, Folau shared a similar biblical quote before Easter 2019. Rugby Australia alleged that this constituted a “high level” breach of its “inclusiveness” commitment and announced an intention to sack him. The matter was considered in a disciplinary hearing and his contract with Rugby Australia was terminated.” Read more…

The withdrawal of common grace

For some time I have been pondering this subject. I see the undeniable increase in lawlessness and sin amongst the nations as proof that in judgment God is withdrawing His restraint upon wicked men.

So it will continue until the end of this age, which surely draws very near!

“And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: that they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness,” 2 Thessalonians 2:11-12.

“But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them,” 2 Timothy 3:13-14.

These two passages tell us clearly the trends we will see developing in the very end of this age. Read more

Why antisemitism will continue until the end of this age

“But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee,” Deuteronomy 28:15.

On June 22nd and 23rd I read chapters 27 and 28 of Deuteronomy each year as I follow the Robert Murray McCheyne Bible Reading Calendar in my daily readings.

As I read these chapters a few days ago, I took note of the terrible judgments threatened against Israel all those ages ago, some 3500 years ago.

There is a price to pay for disobeying God and trampling underfoot His mercies and kindnesses! There is a lesson in that for every sinner and for every child of God and every assembly of God’s people. But I will return to that a little later.

First of all I want to address the subject of my title: Why antisemitism will continue until the end of this age.

Part of the judgment threatened here upon Israel, should they cast aside God and His Law is that of a spirit of bitter enmity amongst the nations of the earth toward Israel. Read more

‘The Adventures of a Bible.’

On 12th May, Rev. Jonathan Creane, minister of Convoy Free Presbyterian Church and minister in charge of Kilskeery Free Presbyterian Church, told a wonderful story to illustrate the power of God’s precious Word during his message that Sabbath morning.Amongst the belongings of an elderly Christian aunt of his wife, who had passed away, a tract was found in her old Bible which was entitled: “The Adventures of a Bible.” It was the substance of that tract that Rev Creane repeated that day in Kilskeery.

It was a most moving story! The recording of his telling of the story was heard by a friend in the USA to whom I send articles ands recordings. He was so blessed by it he played the recording in his church.

I related the story to another friend, a minister who called by on a recent Saturday. He immediately recognised the story and said that he had a copy of the tract. He sent me a digital copy of it and I reproduce it here.

I have not been able to discover who Dr J H Townsend is, but I believe that because the lady, in whose Bible the copy of the tract used by  Rev Creane was found, was a member of a Brethren Assembly, the meeting in Dublin which is at the heart of this story was a Brethren meeting and the company which published the tract was a well-known Brethren publisher, it is likely that Dr Townsend was a Brethren preacher.

I would value any information on the gentleman’s identity that any of you may know.

Here is the story which touched my heart most deeply as I listened to the wonderful story of the power of God’s Word and the merciful grace which was manifested to those featured in this story.

Evangelical Alliance document suggests providing “trans” accessible toilets in church

The ongoing madness engulfing the western world in relation to matters of gender has begun to infect the church, and the Evangelical Alliance has apparently made a concession to this ungodly movement.

In a document called ‘Transformed’, which was written by Peter Lynas, he writes that “providing toilets that are clearly accessible to trans people will be an important part of the welcome provided by churches and charities”.

This would certainly seem to be a recommendation that churches make moves to tolerate the so-called gender choices made by people who make up what is known as the “trans community”. Read more on the Protestant Revival website…

Sacred memories of glorious days

A special service held in Mourne Free Presbyterian Church, 11th January 2019.

Preacher: Rev. Ivan Foster

Whatever memories I have and which burn in my heart, it is impossible for me to convey to you with anything like the impact that I and others like me, experienced, when these events took place.

I am reminded of the old Scottish woman who, struggling to express her feelings and emotions following her conversion said to her minister that the matter was : “Better felt that telt!”

We are permitted by the wonderful mercy of God to walk with the apostles as they companied with the Saviour and witnessed His wonderful words and works and yet, even though those memories are recorded by the inspiration of the Holy Ghost, they can and will convey little of the majesty and glory of those days without the blessing of God resting upon our reading of them. Read more and listen to the message here...

Dr. John Habgood

The great apostasy edges closer to its final and ultimate denial. That denial is given us in 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4. “Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.”

The same truth is found in Peter’s writings. “But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction,” 2 Peter 2:1.

The present apostasy will culminate in man’s outright denial of the Lord Himself and the Antichrist setting himself up as God.

The Christ-rejecting ecclesiastical world took a step nearer to that final apostasy in the mid-1990s with the denials voiced by Dr. John Habgood, the former Archbishop of York. He was reported in ‘The Times’ newspaper as saying that there was nothing in the human body that departs when we die. He claimed that the individual’s identity was “held in the mind of God”. He also said that hell was not regarded as a serious option these days. Read more

Why is Israel the centre of the prophetic earth?

The simple answer to this question is: God has placed it there. The course of events in this world have been predetermined by the Lord, as the following verses demonstrate. “For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done,” Acts 4:28. “And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation,” Acts 17:26. (See also Ephesians 1:11, 3:11). Therefore when we see Israel at the centre of God’s dealings with mankind in the past, it is because He placed her there.

That Israel is at the centre of the prophetic world is clear, when we give consideration to the following truth. Read more

Pope on Christmas: Bethlehem trek is like today’s migrations

Another papal lie.

Joseph and Mary were not migrants. The Bible says: “And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) to be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child,” Luke 2:1-5.

This was a journey within the borders of their own land of about 100 miles.

“Trying to restore Christ to where He never belonged!!

“DUP MP on mission to keep Christ in Christmas”. So ran the headline on the BBC internet news site on Thursday 14th December. It was referring to an attempt by DUP MP, Mr Jim Shannon, to initiate a debate on the subject of ‘Christmas’. The MP is on a mission to persuade people to “keep Christ in their Christmas”.

“Jim Shannon has tabled a motion in the House of Commons about the ‘real meaning’ of Christmas,” the BBC reported.
The motion also wishes “everyone in this United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland a very Happy Christmas and a blessed New Year”. The BBC report went on: “Although it is the season of goodwill, the Early Day Motion may not go any further, as few are actually debated.”
Well-intentioned as Mr Shannon’s attempt at having this matter debated may have been, he is however, like many Christians, wrong in thinking that Christ was ever in “Christmas”! Read more

Pope desires to change the Lord’s prayer

It was recently reported that the Pope has issued a call to change the wording of the Lord’s Prayer. He objected to a line in the prayer that asks God to ‘lead us not into temptation.’ Speaking to the media in Italy, the 80-year-old cleric said the wording should be changed to reflect that it is not God who leads humans to sin. “It is not a good translation because it speaks of a God who induces temptation,” he said. “I am the one who falls. It’s not him pushing me into temptation to then see how I have fallen. A father doesn’t do that, a father helps you to get up immediately. It’s Satan who leads us into temptation – that’s his department.”

He noted that the Catholic Church in France had already adapted the prayer to say ‘do not let us fall into temptation’. Read more

Strife between God and His People!

“Hear ye now what the LORD saith; Arise, contend thou before the mountains, and let the hills hear thy voice. Hear ye, O mountains, the LORD’S controversy, and ye strong foundations of the earth: for the LORD hath a controversy with his people, and he will plead with Israel.” Micah 6:1-2.

There is nothing more difficult for the servant of God to undertake than the task of rebuking sin amongst His people. When we contend against the wickedness of the ungodly, you will have the sympathy and support of the people of God. However, when it is necessary to contend against folly, for sin is the greatest of all follies, amongst the people of God you lose, to a great degree, that sympathy aforementioned.

The necessity of what you are doing is questioned and the motive that moves you is classified as the basest. However, it must be done. Read more

By Rev. Ivan Foster

The report reproduced at the end of this article is taken from the County Fermanagh weekly newspaper, ‘The Impartial Reporter’, dated 20th November 2017.

In it the Chief Constable of the Police Service of Northern Ireland, George Hamilton sought to refute criticism of the police response to the IRA bombing of the Remembrance Day wreath-laying ceremony in Enniskillen back on November 8th, 1987.

Mr Hamilton said that criticism of the police investigation into the atrocity was totally wrong. The bomb exploded as a parade of Ulster Defence Regiment (UDR) soldiers was making its way to the memorial and as people waited for the ceremony to begin. It blew out the wall of the Reading Rooms, a Roman Catholic Church property which the police had not searched because of the objections of priests in previous years. It was here that many of the victims were standing. The explosion buried them under rubble and hurled masonry towards the gathered crowd. Bystanders rushed to free those trapped underneath. Read more
