In this month’s edition…

So how long will it be before we invite the IS jihadis to a white-tie dinner?

Patrick Magee (pictured in Belfast last year) is free and apparently  living a happy and contented life while his victims lie in their graves. While we rage and fret about the terrorist outrages of today, how quickly we forget the horrors of the recent past. Read more

Proposed Changes to Abortion Law in Northern Ireland

David_FordThe case being made for changes to the law regarding abortion in Northern Ireland that David Ford, Justice Minister in the Stormont power-sharing government and leader of the Alliance Party is pushing, is not new.

The Justice Department is asking for the views of the public on whether abortion should be allowed for women carrying children which would die due to defects anyway, and also it is being asked whether abortions should be available to those who conceived due to incest or rape.

It should be remembered that the decision to abort a baby which is alleged to be suffering from defects, from which it will die after its birth, rests upon the views of doctors, based upon their interpreting of medical evidence supplied by scans etc.

That amounts to the doctors supplanting the role of God! Read more

Godless Federations

(A message preached at the Sovereign Grace Advent Testimony evening meeting held in New Life Presbyterian Church hall (kindly granted) in West Kilburn, London, on Friday 26th September, 2014, by Rev Ivan Foster)

“Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God. For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head. They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones. They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance. For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee: the tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes; Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre; Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah,” Psalm 83:1-8.

The anti-Israel sentiments expressed here in this psalm have long been desired and if anything are stronger today than ever before. How precise and detailed is the information here given on this federation of nations. Prophecy is history written before the event. This amalgam of haters of Israel will indeed come together in their efforts to “cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance” just prior to our Saviour’s return. Read more

The Apostasy

A message preached at the Sovereign Grace Advent Testimony afternoon meeting held in New Life Presbyterian Church hall (kindly granted) in West Kilburn, London, on Friday 26th September, 2014, by Rev Ivan Foster.

“Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God,” 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4. Read more

Plant Worker: Aborted Babies Had Been Incinerated for Years, “There Was So Much Blood”

by Steven Ertelt, LifeNews.com

A former plant worker at the facility found to be burning aborted babies for energy says the practice had been going on for years and he believes plant officials and perhaps even county government officials should have known.

Local officials in Oregon are upset that an energy plant is reportedly burning aborted babies from Canada to generate electricity. As LifeNews reported on Thursday, they launched an investigation into how and why aborted babies were included along with medical waste shipped from Canada to Oregon to be incinerated for energy at a recycling plant. Read more

The first Free Presbyterian Church

crossgarfpcCrossgar Free Presbyterian Church is the first Free Presbyterian Church of Ulster and the congregation out of which the worldwide Free Presbyterian movement originated. It came into being on 17th March 1951 out of evangelistic fervour, which brought it into conflict with the liberal agenda that was gaining ground in many denominations. Early in 1950, the Committee of the Crossgar Mission Hall approached the 24 year old Rev. Ian Paisley to determine whether he would conduct a Gospel Campaign in the town. After careful consideration and prayer, the date was fixed for February 1951. The Campaign Committee, the majority of whom were office-bearers or members of Lissara Presbyterian Church, feeling that the Mission Hall would be too small, decided to ask their Kirk Session for the use of the local Presbyterian Church hall for the campaign. This was unanimously granted at a meeting of Session. Read more

Did Noah pray for revival???

The Saviour clearly tells us that “ . . as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be,” Matthew 24:37-39. Read more

Pastor Joel Beeke, through RHB, Promoting Modern Bible Translations, Corrupt Teachers, and the UBS

Once again those brethren who have clung to Dr Joel Beeke and refused to see any error in his ways or wrong in the company he keeps are challenged by this article by Pastor Ralph Ovadal to consider in the light of God’s Word the behaviour of this brother.

Here in the Free Presbyterian Church of Ulster, the Authorised Version of the Bible and its use in our churches have been sacrosanct. The endorsement by Dr Beeke of two modern versions, which have been deemed inferior and untrustworthy by such as The Trinitarian Bible Society, is most alarming.

Surely we are seeing a repeat of the “Billy Graham saga” of some 60 years ago when there were those who blindly clung to his coat-tails and refused to see where his compromises were leading.

“And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed. Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother,” 2 Thessalonians 3:14-15. Read the article

The footsteps of Patrick

The Gospel of Christ came to Ireland over 1500 years ago. Despite many attempts by Satan and his agents God has been pleased to maintain His truth in this land. Following its first planting the Gospel was carried by men whose hearts the Lord had touched into many neighbouring countries: Scotland, England, Wales, France, Germany, Switzerland and further.

God has been pleased, in some measure, to do again in these latter days what He did in those distant days. May the land, now associated with terror and strife, become known again by the title it was then given, “The land of Saints and Scholars.” Read more…

Ireland before the seventeenth century plantation

A knowledge of the history of Ireland is a very beneficial and precious thing and that for a number of reasons.

1. History displays the merciful dealings of God with our forefathers.

2. Such a knowledge will do much to expose the lie of Rome that has bred the spirit of Irish nationalism based upon the myth of a pure Irish race that has ever been fervently Roman Catholic.

Spiritual Warfare and Marriage Campaign

[This article originally appeared in the English Churchman (Edition 7839 of 25th February 2012) and is republished here by kind permission.]

There are times when as Christians we look around and wonder. The state of the church and nation is so weak and we ourselves are little better. What can we do but cry out to God? The Government proposes to allow the attempted joining together of two men or two women to be called a marriage. Read more…

Is there a way for terrorist murderers to obtain “forgiveness for their past”?

A recent news story in the Belfast “News Letter” (29th February) carried the headlines: ‘Former IRA men ‘seeking forgiveness for their past’. It featured a report on the work of the ‘Crossfire Trust’ in South Armagh. It is funded by The International Fund for Ireland, an organisation set up by the British and Irish governments in 1986. It would be correct to say that it is an ecumenical organisation which has the objective of combatting sectarianism.

The article also featured a lengthy statement by a man the newspaper termed “a south Armagh peacemaker”, Mr Ian Bothwell. He has been involved in community work in south Armagh since the late 1970s. Mr Bothwell’s “Crossfire Trust” website makes reference to his desire to remind the people of South Armagh of “God and His love for them”.

However, in the “Newsletter” article, Mr Bothwell’s proposal for “a new way forward between paramilitaries and victims in the area” is clearly a social and political solution to the murderers’ anxiety. Read more…
