I recall once, in the late 1970s, when preaching in the Bedford, England area and staying with my dear friend, Dr Stephen Scott-Pearson and his family, I paid a visit a small museum there which was dedicated to the memory of John ‘the Tinker’ Bunyan, a native of that area.
The lady who supervised the little establishment asked me to sign the visitors book and excitedly informed me that Prince Charles had visited the museum and signed the visitors’ book but a short time before. She spoke excitedly of him and asked me what I thought of him, doubtless expecting me to endorse her opinion.
In reply I said, ‘King Charles I was a rascal, King Charles II was a greater rascal and I expect King Charles III to be an even greater rascal!’
This greatly astonished the dear lady but if she is alive, still she has had ample evidence that my assertion was in fact very true!
The latest evidence of Charles III’s ‘rascality’ has been announced in the press in recent days. One news website, GB news, heralded forth:
King Charles ‘set to travel to Italy to hold momentous first meeting with Pope’ since becoming monarch.
He is a ‘lover’ of all things popish as the previous encounters with the papal antichrists indicate.
In 2009 he and the now ‘Queen Camilla’ visited Pope Benedict.
They met the present Pope in 2017.
It says a lot about popery’s moral standards when these ‘royal’ marriage vow violators are warmly welcomed!

The article in GB News states: ‘Charles and Pope Francis have previously met twice, most recently in 2019 when the then-Prince of Wales visited the Vatican for Cardinal John Henry Newman’s canonisation.’
‘Prior to Cardinal Newman’s canonisation, Charles wrote an article reflecting on the legacy of the first English saint created in decades, who worked to bridge Anglican and Catholic relations.’
That ‘bridge’ is well on its way to completion! Indeed, traffic has been flowing over it during the terms of recent Canterbury ‘archbishoprics’.
The Church of England has long been led by deceivers and betrayers of all that historically the Church of England once professed. The supposedly ‘authoritative’ ’39 Articles’ setting forth the teaching of the Church of England have ceased to have any bearing on the witness and stance of the now apostate church.
There has been an ominous ‘silence’ on this development from the other major denominations. That is not surprising for they have basically been in step with Anglicanism’s march to Rome.
Sadly, there has been little by way of protest from any of the Protestant organisations. What a contrast with the protest mounted in Rome by Dr Paisley in March 1966.
The professing ‘Protestant’ people are sleep-walking to the ultimate amalgamation of ‘apostate Christendom’ under the pope and ultimately under the final ‘Antichrist’. This development and the stages of its development is outlined for us in Revelation chapter 17.
“And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues. And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire. For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled. And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth,” Revelation 17:15-18.
These verses mark the transition from the ‘religious’ antichristianity to that of the ‘political/mercantile’ antichristianity of the final antichrist, ‘the beast’ of Revelation 13.
The ‘Woman’ (religiou antichristianity) shall for a time ‘ride the beast’, that is enjoy prominence and dominance over the kings and national leaders of the territory of the ten kingdoms, the resurrected ‘Roman Earth’, which will give allegiance to Antichrist and will follow the ‘beast’ in the closing days before the return of the Saviour.
Prior to this final stage, “the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire. For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled,” verses 16-17.
THE GREAT TRIBULATION
I believe that event will signal the beginning of the ‘great tribulation’ which shall last for three and a half years and will be ended by the return of the Saviour in great power and glory.
Christian, these matters, blithely reported and hardly noted, even by Christians, are ‘signs of the times’ which the Saviour would have His people understand and heed.
There is a need for wise men in the pulpits today, men like those we read of in 1 Chronicles 12:32.
“And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment.”
May the Lord raise up such in these evil days.
