“BIBLE LANDS IN BIBLE LIGHT”

God’s Purpose for the BRITISH ISLES
By Rev. David McMillan

Price £1 (40p+postage)

Email Rev. Foster with your name and street address to order a copy.

God has a lot to say about the nations that were in the old Roman Empire; and in 2012 a series of meetings were held considering many such countries, so that particular thought should be given to what the Bible tells us of the future. This booklet has been added to that series of messages. The reason why the Lord has told us so much is because He would have us to understand His purpose for the earth.

Arlene Foster turns down invitation from Irish Government to Pope’s visit

Arlene Foster ‘regretfully’ declines invitation to Pope’s speech in Dublin Castle

‘In a statement, the DUP said Mrs Foster appreciates the invitation but regretfully will be away with her family at that time.’

Are we to understand that had she not been on holiday, she would have ‘happily’ (the opposite of regretfully) attended?

If this is not the case, why did she ‘regret’ being unable to attend? Why did she not plainly say that she would not attend any gathering honouring the head of the organisation, the chief ordinance of which is spoken of as ‘a blasphemous fable and a dangerous deceit’ by her own Church of Ireland historic standards?”

“The DUP has missed an opportunity by not meeting Pope Francis on his Irish visit this weekend.”

So ran the headline of an article in the Belfast Newsletter of Saturday 25th August, the day the pope landed in Dublin. It was written by Ben Lowry, the deputy editor of the newspaper.

In the article he states two reasons for the opinion set forth in the headline.

1. ‘As Christianity in the West slowly but relentlessly declines, some aggressive secular values are prevailing. The speed with which social policies have changed on issues such as same-sex marriage and abortion, and the almost hysterical way in which traditionalists are harangued on those topics, means that Christians at times seem almost to have been browbeaten into not really stating what they think on such important matters. Read more

The Lessons of the Omagh bomb

I was reminded of this message with the recent publicity surrounding the 20th anniversary of this dastardly act by dissident IRA terrorists.

Shamefully, no one has ever been convicted of the crime even though it appears to be well known who is guilty!

The message was prepared in the morning prayer meeting just before the morning service so you will have to forgive its short-comings!

Click here to listen and to read a statement issued at the time by the Free Presbyterian ministers in the area.

The following article was published in the Burning Bush at the time.

Irish Republicans Murder 28 in Omagh

The full horror of the IRA’s 30 years of murder by bomb and bullet, almost exclusively directed against the Protestant people in Northern Ireland, has been brought home to the Roman Catholic nationalist community by the horrific bombing in Omagh, Co. Tyrone, on Saturday 15th August. Read more

Groomsport Presbyterian Church celebrates same-sex marriage of former trainee ‘minister’

(Source: Protestant Revival website) …it has recently come to our attention that Groomsport Presbyterian Church, near Bangor in County Down, has offered its support to same-sex ‘marriage’ by cheerily celebrating the recent ‘wedding’ between a former intern ‘minister’ in the congregation and her ‘girlfriend’.

In their church magazine, known as ‘Eagle Wing’, it is proudly boasted of ‘Rev’ Jennifer Barchi’s ‘marriage’ to her ‘girlfriend’. Read more

Ecumenical charismaniacs looking to Rome for revival at Nutts Corner

(Source: Protestant Revival website) The ongoing charismatic efforts to degrade the spiritual landscape in Ulster continues apace, and they will focus their efforts next month on an ecumenical prayer initiative called ‘Healing The Land’.

Indeed, the event, scheduled for Saturday, 8th September at Nutts Corner, is being marketed as for Protestant, Catholic and those of no denomination – an ecumenist’s dream.

Perhaps Nutts Corner is a very apt venue for an easy-believist event, not just because of its name but for its reputation as a place to purchase something cheaply. Read more

Presbytery Statement re Presbyterians attending the Papal Visit

Love for the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and concern for the eternal souls of men will prevent any Bible believer from union or communion with a Roman Catholic Church that remains as contrary to Holy Scripture today as it ever has been.

  • As long as it proclaims its leader as the supreme head of the church on earth,
  • denigrates the work that Christ completed on Calvary by the pretentious teachings central to its mass,
  • refuses the scriptural way of salvation that justification is by faith alone in Christ alone,
  • fleeces its adherents by means of an imaginary purgatory,
  • and offers indulgences with as much aplomb as Tetzel managed in Martin Luther’s day,

no true Christian should engage in fellowship with this system, never mind travel to welcome its Pope. Read more

A Tribute to Mrs Anne Ferguson

Given by Rev Ivan Foster at her funeral service in Lurgan Free Presbyterian Church, August 14th, 2018, when some 600 people gathered to sympathise with and support Rev Gordon Ferguson and his family in their bereavement.

I am not a member of Anne Ferguson’s family. However, we were both members of a family God gathered unto Himself in a time of rich blessing in the mid-60s down in Co. Fermanagh.

Anne was saved on 27th April 1969. That Sabbath evening was my first in the Lisbellaw pulpit following a month-long prison term in Crumlin Road jail. Read more

Our unassailable God

“There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD,” Proverbs 21:30.

The day following the sodomite “Gay Pride” parade in Belfast, (Saturday, 4th August) I went to God’s house much cast down by the news reports of the support given to that evil demonstration! In a land so blessed by God over the last 500 years and more, to hear of children and babes in arms in their hundreds being brought along to such an event and being used to ‘sanitise’ this defiance of the laws of God and of nature, was most distressing.

It was in such a state of mind I went to God’s house. But it was there that God had a word for my soul! Read more

For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God. Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them,” Acts 20:27-30.

Apostolic ‘selfies’

The “Independent” newspaper reported on 8th July 2018, that, “Philippines president Rodrigo Duterte says he will quit if someone can prove God exists.” The proof the President required was “a selfie”, the modern term for “a photograph that is taken of oneself, typically with a smartphone or webcam.”

It is now more than two weeks since that news report appeared. When I read it my mental response was somewhat immediate for some of the texts I have listed in this article sprang into my mind, especially John 20:31. “But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.” The Bible is written to give documentary proof of the truth of the gospel in a style and manner acceptable in the 1st century and still employed in our courts today.

While I did not write an article right away, the matter came before me many times until I had to put pen to paper or rather, fingers to keyboard.

Here is the result. I am sending a copy to the Press Office of President Rodrigo Duterte with a request that it be passed to him.

Pray that it might be indeed brought to his attention and that God’s Word, as He wills, “shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it,” Isaiah 55:11. Read more

The Distress of Preaching God’s Word in a Day of Apostasy – A sad lament by a preacher to his mother!

“Woe is me, my mother, that thou hast borne me a man of strife and a man of contention to the whole earth! I have neither lent on usury, nor men have lent to me on usury; yet every one of them doth curse me,” Jeremiah 15:10.

This morning (July 19th) I read Jeremiah chapter 15 along with Judges 2, two of the chapters appointed for reading today for those who follow the Robert Murray McCheyne Bible Reading Calendar. Both these chapters highlight the tendency of God’s people to depart from the ways of the Lord as He sets forth in His Word and to eagerly enter the paths dictated by their own depravity. Read more

Christian Schools And The Future Of Free Presbyterianism

Recently, a visiting preacher said in a sermon in the pulpit of Kilskeery Free Presbyterian Church, that the Free Presbyterian Church had “lost a generation of children”!

I believe that was most sadly true and the reason for it has been the failure to remove our children from under the tutelage of the state system of education. It has become the main instrument of the devil and his agents for the spreading of the rejection of everything God’s Word sets forth. Sodomy, transgenderism and every form of modern, depraved philosophy has found its way into the state’s curriculum and is imposed upon the minds of the young in the classroom.

This was warned of 40 years ago when the plans for first Independent Christian School was initiated but to a very large degree the Free Presbyterian Church chose to ignore the warning and what the visiting preacher stated is the result.

Here is a message, preached 32 years ago and widely circulated repeatedly within the Free Presbyterian congregations and much further abroad. Please read it here.

Ex-Moderator reveals anguish over Presbyterian’s same-sex row

“Asked if he saw a parallel with the way in which Christian Churches eventually had to revise their long-held – but ultimately false – position on the issue of slavery, the distinguished clergyman said: ‘I struggle with precisely that question.’ ”

THE PERVERTED THINKING OF THE REJECTER OF THE BIBLE

“Ex-Moderator reveals anguish over Presbyterian’s (sic) same-sex row.” So ran the headline in the Belfast Telegraph of July 2nd 2018.

Last month, the Presbyterian Church in Ireland’s General Assembly decided that same-sex partners could not receive communion and their children could not be baptised in the Church. Former Presbyterian Moderator Dr John Dunlop, has spoken of his personal struggle with the issues of same-sex relationships in the Church in the wake of recent controversial decisions by its ruling body.

“There are many people in the Presbyterian Church who are happy with the decisions which have been made – but then there are other people who are LGBT, or their family and friends, who have found this very unsettling,” he said. Read more

The latest evidence of Dr Joel Beeke’s links with the dreadful apostasy of today.

The President of the Martin Bucer Seminary in cosy fellowship with the Pope!

I have recently been sent some web links that serve to show further evidence of how Joel Beeke is closely allied with the “Balaams” and “Elymases” of today.

Joel Beeke, once considered a ‘fundamentalist’, cosied-up to and defended by those within the ranks of Free Presbyterianism both in the UK and USA and by English and American Baptists, is openly in fellowship with rank apostates and Romanisers such as Bishop Prof. Thomas Schirrmacher, PhD, ThD, DD.

…The German newspaper ‘Die Welt’ calls Bishop Schirrmacher one of the three leading experts on religious freedom globally and “Pope Francis’ most loved Protestant”. Read more
