Where do  the sheep run when they seek to escape the stranger? “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble,” Psalm 46:1. We have had a day of prayer last Sabbath. We are hiding in the Lord in this day of trouble!

WHEN IN DANGER THEY SEEK THE VOICE OF THE SHEPHERD
“From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God,” John 6:66-69.
IT WAS HIS VOICE WHICH DROVE THE FALSE DISCIPLES AWAY
The ‘false’ disciples forsook Christ because they did not like what He was saying! “Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it? . . . . From that timemany of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him,” verses 60, 66.

CONTINUING AFTER CHRIST IS PROOF THAT WE REALLY ARE THE SAVIOUR’S SHEEP.
“As he spake these words, many believed on him. Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed,” John 8:30-31. “Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not,” John 8:43-45.
The Psalm 1 repeats that truth. Let us read it in closing.
“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly arenot so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish,” Ps 1:1-6.
