KICS Prize Winners at Fermanagh County Show

From early days after the establishment of the Independent Christian School in Kilskeery, pupils have entered pieces of work in the schools’ competition as part of the annual Fermanagh County Show. Every year pupils have represented the school well and won individual prizes for English writing, crafts and art. This year the Collum Shield for the highest total of points scored in the schools’ entries was awarded to two of our Year 6 pupils. Faith McFarland was (jointly) awarded the shield for the girl with the highest points and her classmate, Joseph Foster, was awarded the shield for the boy with the highest score.

The shields are on display in our school for this academic year and the awards have given great pleasure to teachers, pupils and parents in our little school and are a token of the Lord’s continued favour upon the work and witness of Christian Education.

KICS students Faith McFarland and Joseph Foster

The above photographs are copied from the local newspaper, ‘The Impartial Reporter’

In the top group photo, Joseph and Faith are second and third from the left in the back row and first and second in the back row in the second group photo.

We offer our sincere congratulations to Faith and Joseph.

The folly of the 'Save The Earth' activists

Gareth Hanna, Belfast Telegraph columnist

“Christianity should be at the forefront of battle to save planet”

So writes one, Gareth Hanna, in the ‘Belfast Telegraph’, of October 24th. He is employed as a ‘writer’ there. Hanna claims to have been brought up in ‘evangelical’ Christianity here in Ulster.

He discloses more about himself in another article entitled:

“Why it’s time more NI Christians came out as LGBTQ+ affirming”

He wrote: “As a Christian who has spent a lifetime within the religion in Northern Ireland, I now feel an ever-increasing responsibility to publicly say that I am convinced, wholly and utterly, that it is OK to be gay. I mean, of course it is — it’s more than OK.”

So now that we know the calibre of this purveyor of nonsense, we can examine his article about ‘saving the planet’ with an assurance that he is wrong on this topic as he is on the matter of Christianity and sodomy.

He starts off his ‘treatise’ with a reference to the TV cartoon characters, ‘The Simpsons’ and that immediately informs us of the sort of material from which he obtains his inspiration! Click to read more…

Answering the balderdash of an 'Educated Ejit'

Peter Heather, Professor of Medieval History at King’s College London

The article, the link to which is here posted, was sent to me by a friend.

Christendom by Peter Heather: the bloody history of its success

October 02 2022, 12.01am

I want to briefly deal with the central premise of the writer’s diatribe for once it is demolished then the vile assertions he levels against ‘Christianity’, by confusing it with ‘Christendom, fall apart.

I will entitle my response:

ANSWERING THE BALDERDASH OF AN ‘EDUCATED EJIT’

Peter Heather, is one of those labelled by W P Nicholson a century ago as ‘an educated ejit’!

Peter Heather is, as Wikipedia states: “Professor of Medieval History at King’s College London.”

It is little wonder the land is in the confused, lawless state that it manifests every day for all to see, with cretins like him filling the heads of the youth with unmitigated guff that he passes off as truth. Educated in the ‘knowledge of men’ he may be but he emanates every evidence of being one of “the enemies of the cross of Christ”, referred to by Paul in Philippians 3:18.

What this ‘Professor’ narrates of ‘Christendom’s’ history, whether or not accurately is for others to judge, is the history of the workings of that which Paul speaks of in 2 Thessalonians 2:7, as “the mystery of iniquity.” This has manifested itself chiefly within ‘Papal Antichristianity’ and in more modern times as the theologically ‘modernistic, liberal and ecumenical’ movement within the camp of ‘Protestantism’.

This was the spirit of error sent forth by the one the Lord Jesus said is “a liar, and the father of it,” John 8:44. The early church leaders were in constant war against this ‘lie’ for the devil was ever seeking to plant it amongst the true believers in Christ. Jude tells us what the early guardians of God’s truth were up against. “Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ,” Jude 1:3-4. A Response to the Saint Margaret Declaration from the Free Church of Scotland (continuing)

Free Church of Scotland (Continuing)

The following pdf is a lengthy article sent to me by Mr Lindsay McCallum, an elder in the Free Church of Scotland ( Continuing) and a retired school teacher who is the acting convener of the Church’s Public Questions, Religion and Morals Committee.

A Response to the Saint Margaret Declaration

It is a valuable response to the recent ‘agreement’ reached between the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland and the Roman Catholic Church in May of this year (2022)  and which was ‘welcomed’ by the Scottish Parliament.

This response to the agreement was sent to the Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament.

The terms of this iniquitous agreement are stated at the beginning of Mr McCallum’s response.

We commend our Scottish brethren who ‘earnestly contend for the faith once delivered to the saints’ (Jude 3).

Sincerely in Christ’s name,

Ivan Foster

A tribute to Andrew McFarland

Andrew shortly after he started at KICS

ANDREW McFARLAND, a former pupil of Kilskeery Independent Christian School, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday 18th October.

By Mrs Pamela Foster BA (Hons), MEd, Principal of the school

His Funeral Service will be conducted in Omagh Free Presbyterian Church by the minister, Rev Colin Mercer.

Service will be held on Friday, 21st October at 1.00 pm.

The service will be broadcast on FacebookYoutube, and Sermonaudio.

Tuesday 18th October was a day of sadness in Kilskeery Independent Christian School when we heard that Andrew McFarland, a well-loved former pupil, whose father, uncles and aunt also attended our school, had gone to be forever with the Lord. Tears were shed by young pupils who sorrowed for their classmate, Faith, in the loss of a much loved and treasured brother; and by older pupils too, who remembered sharing their early school days with Andrew. However, the Lord ministered to us and granted comfort and peace to staff and pupils together as we sang one of the hymns often sung with Andrew in his last year as a pupil in our school:

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me

All the days, all the days of my life;

And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever,

And I shall feast at the table spread for me;

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me

All the days, all the days of my life;

When I walk through the dark, lonesome valley,

My Saviour will walk with me there;

And safely His great hand will lead me

To the mansions He’s gone to prepare.

“Wee Andrew,” as he continued to be affectionately called by many of the pupils and teachers, was the most winsome and appealing of children. Andrew joined our school in September 2013 and he brought into the classroom an infectious giggle, a mischievous glint in his eye and a smile that charmed every teacher who was privileged to know him and work with him. Even when it began to become clear that Andrew would need special help and support as new difficulties were faced in the classroom, Andrew continued to exude a joyfulness that was in itself a reward for all who spent time with him. Andrew was a very special blessing to our school, in that he drew the best out of others and in his company we saw many of our pupils increase in the fruits of kindness, care and compassion for Andrew and towards one another. He was quick to pick up new words and tunes and we have delightful memories of him singing with enthusiasm and enjoyment along with the other pupils – and sometimes bursting into song by himself in the middle of a class.

When changes in Andrew’s condition meant it was necessary for him to move to Willowbridge Special School, we knew we would sorely miss a very special pupil. We set ourselves to pray that as Andrew could no longer be kept with us in the Christian school, the Lord would supply those, like Pharaoh’s daughter, with the compassion and skills to provide for Andrew’s next stage of care. Andrew’s family have testified that in the goodness and mercy of the Lord that prayer was abundantly answered. But Andrew’s teachers also asked the Lord that, before Andrew left the school and before his ability to communicate was further affected, there would be an evidence that this cheerful, good-natured little boy, who enjoyed praising the Lord and hearing His Word, was truly trusting in Christ as His Saviour. At that end-of-term Praise Service in June 2017, as the guest speaker, Rev William McDermott, in the midst of his message issued a challenge from the pulpit: “Are you saved?” pupils and teachers sitting around Andrew in the meeting heard his voice clearly raised in reply – “I am!” And when the preacher, unaware of the audible answer that had been given, repeated his challenge, Andrew again gave his testimony, “I am!” Many of our pupils and teachers, grieving at this time, remember that night with comfort and joy.

Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven, Matthew 10:32.

Going back to sin is not the way forward!

Veteran DUP MP says he wants party to merge with UUP to create single entity

So ran the headline on a ‘Belfast Newsletter’ article, dated 18th October, 2022. The link to the article was sent to me by a friend late yesterday evening. This prompted me to write the following.

The ‘veteran’ DUP MP, Jim Shannon, is a professing Christian. It is therefore all the more inexplicable and disappointing that he is calling for an amalgamation of the DUP and the Ulster Unionist Party. He sees such a step as a means of delivering ‘Unionism’ from its present difficulties.

Why do men think that going back to the ways and company from which they left because of its errors and sins, will bring deliverance?

The DUP was formed by Unionists who saw the policies of the Ulster Unionist Party as being dangerously compromising with regards Irish republicanism. Presently it is a party which embraces support for abortion and is ‘big’ on LGBT issues, having notable members who embrace the moral perversions of that ‘coterie’.

Presently, the DUP still professes to be against abortion and its members would, I believe, be largely opposed to the moral depravity of the sodomite lobby. However, the party’s stance on these issues has been undermined in recent years by some leading members voicing support of the ‘lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender’ elements within society. There is even a female DUP councillor who openly acknowledges a lifestyle that it utterly condemned by God in His Word who has been endorsed and lauded by the party. Click to read more…

Why the utter confusion???

A worried Mrs. Truss

“O Lord, righteousness belongeth unto thee, but unto us confusion of faces, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel, that are near, and that are far off, through all the countries whither thou hast driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against thee,” Daniel 9:7.

The words of Daniel above, go a long way to answering my question. The state of the nation is indeed very closely linked to the relationship it has with the Lord. This is a truth that is not only linked to Israel, the elect nation, but it applies most definitely to any nation that has been favoured by God with a knowledge of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

No nation has been more favoured than that of the United Kingdom. Out of it went a translation of the Bible in 1611 which has shaped the English-speaking world, and still does. It was the birth place of the modern missionary movement in the eighteenth century, something that may be likened unto the aftermath or lesser repeat of the harvest of Pentecost.

But oh how that has changed! Today, the ‘official view’ of both the religious and the scientific world, is one based upon a total rejection of the Word of God, which if men were only to obey then they could say with the Psalmist: “O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes! Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments,” Psalms 119:5-6. Click to read more…

The Creeslough tragedy

For a village of some 400 inhabitants, the sudden death, in a gas explosion at a shop and filling station, of ten of its villagers with ages ranging from five to fifty nine, is an unspeakable catastrophe.

We can only stand at a distance and grieve for those whose families have suffered such a loss. It seems so empty to give expression to sorrow but as one who has witnessed devastation on a similar scale on many occasions in my lifetime we can but offer sympathy and, above all, remember the sorrowing in prayer.

(top row, left to right) Leona Harper, 14, Robert Garwe, 50, Shauna Flanagan Garwe, five, Jessica Gallagher, 24, and James O’Flaherty, 48, and (bottom row, left to right) Martina Martin, 49, Hugh Kelly, 59, Catherine O’Donnell, 39, her 13-year-old son James Monaghan, and Martin McGill, 49, the ten victims of explosion at Applegreen service station in the village of Creeslough in Co Donegal on Friday, 7th October.

There is One, only One, Who can comfort in such circumstances and He is the One spoken of in our old hymn:

Standing somewhere in the shadows you’ll find Jesus

He’s the only one who cares and understands.

Standing somewhere in the shadows you will find Him

and you’ll know Him by the nail prints in his hand

Some may point the finger at the Lord and blame Him for such a tragedy but to do so is wrong, very wrong! The ancient patriarch Job sets the standard and the pattern we must adopt in such circumstances. What sorrow came on that man in a moment! Click to read more…

2022 Ploughing Championship outreach in Co. Laois

It was thrilling to hear Rev Jonathan Creane’s report of the Free Presbyterian witness at the Ploughing Match, held in County Laois, in his prayer meeting in Convoy FP Church.

It is heart-stirring to hear of the ready ear for the Word of God that was found amongst the many Roman Catholics who came into the tent to receive Bibles and the many items of gospel literature offered and to also have a cup of tea.

I know that your heart will be moved to pray for those who went away with God’s Word.

How good it would be if the same interest was found amongst the Ulster ‘Protestants’ who have been privileged for centuries with the gospel!

Sincerely in Christ’s name,

Ivan Foster

Identifying ourselves with the Lord

The following article arose out of my readings on the Sabbath Day past.

I thought that I would share my thoughts with you.

I have also included an audio recording of me reading the article. There ought not to be too many differences between the two!!

The Lord bless you all richly,

Ivan Foster

IDENTIFYING OURSELVES WITH THE LORD

“Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Son of man, set thy face against mount Seir, and prophesy against it,” Ezekiel 35:1-2.

One of my Bible readings for Lord’s Day, 2nd October, was Ezekiel chapter 35. I noted what it was the Lord said to Ezekiel in the opening verses and thought to myself that:—

I. GOD’S SERVANTS ARE REQUIRED TO BE AGAINST THOSE THE LORD IS AGAINST!

This is surely the implication of the words: “Set thy face against mount Seir” when considered in the light of the opening words of the Lord’s message to mount Seir, or the land of Edom. “And say unto it, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O mount Seir, I am against thee, and I will stretch out mine hand against thee, and I will make thee most desolate,” verse 3.

To be God’s servant in this day likewise requires a man to :—

1. Publicly manifest our opposition to that which the Lord is against. To do that we must be acquainted with God’s view on the ways and practices of men around us. We must be familiar with the Lord’s view of the conduct of our fellows in this age. Wickedness can ‘creep up’ on Christians and become accepted as being of no real harm. The devil loves to ‘creep’, Jude 4. He turns the heat up slowly so that few notice the change. It cannot be denied that there is much that is found acceptable to Christians today that was repudiated by previous generations. Conduct, lifestyle, behaviour, practices that are easily engaged in by many Christians today would have been utterly shunned by our forebears as totally unacceptable ways for a Christian to act. Corruption in society

The following extracts from today’s news, of which I have copied only the essential details, are matters which surely ought to bring home to us the terrible ‘hurricane’ of iniquity breaking forth amongst us.

The reports clearly indicate that this wickedness, while in many cases only coming to public attention now, has been an undercurrent in our society for decades.

This indicates the declining influence of true Christianity amongst us. The ‘Ecumenical’ variety has no power to hinder such evil, rather it is busy endorsing it! The liberal churches have embraced the stratagem of the LGBT+ perverts and sanctioned relationships for which people were condemned to jail in living memory.

Such is deemed ‘progress’ and ‘liberation’ but it is not. It is society sinking down into the morass of Hell’s depravity.

Children and young people need the protection that only Bible-based institutions can give. Churches governed by those laws set down by God in His Word; Children and Young People’s meetings which are designed not to entertain but to instruct in the eternal verities; Schools which follow only a curriculum formulated from the Word of God and which employ only those who bear strong Christians testimonies and such schools should be under the governorship of godly men and women.

Above all, the homes of our land should conform to that standard of behaviour and environment which God requires.

“Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord,” Ephesians 5:33-6:4.

Without a return to these standards, society will continue to degenerate, ever more speedily, and there is formed around us that atmosphere and spiritual climate which shall give rise to full-blown Antichristianity, which in turn will bring down God’s judgment for “because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children (offspring) of disobedience,” Ephesians 5:6.

My earnest good wishes,

Ivan Foster

Death of 'Brother Andrew'

This article from the ’The Times’ newspaper was sent to me by a friend (whom I have never met) who looks out for such things for me.

The older generation will be more familiar with his name and labours. This will stir some good memories and impart encouraging information to younger Christians.

Sincerely in Christ’s name,

Brother Andrew obituary

Declaring on visa applications that his occupation was “teacher”, Brother Andrew rarely found himself denied official permission. When he reached border patrols, his car overflowing with Bibles and tracts, he would mutter a prayer under his breath: “Lord, who made blind eyes see; now make seeing eyes blind.” Time and again, customs officers waved him onwards with a cheery greeting. In Czechoslovakia, when the suppression of the Prague Spring had put an end to relative religious freedom, he even handed out Bibles to the occupying Soviet troops, who were left somewhat bemused.

On his travels, Brother Andrew discovered the subtle ways in which the communist authorities, instead of banning the Church, ground down its leaders and worshippers, ensuring that they were demoralised. Christian agitators lost their jobs for spurious reasons and were denied university places without explanation. State-sponsored official churches gave the impression of a freedom of faith while underground churches, where allegiance to the state did not go hand in hand with allegiance to faith, were persecuted.

The battered VW Beetle became the symbol of Brother Andrew’s charity, Open Doors

After half a dozen journeys, distributing Bibles in Yugoslavia, Hungary and East Germany, Brother Andrew was summarily arrested during a return visit to Yugoslavia and expelled from the country. It marked the beginning of a more formal Bible-smuggling operation called Open Doors, using an ever-expanding volunteer base to take the Gospel to the east. His VW Beetle became the symbol of the charity. Click to read more…

Turning our back on the path chosen in 1951

The sad testimony of the publishing of the 2021 census appears to show a Free Presbyterian Church of Ulster in decline! Its numbers are down some 29.15% from just twenty years ago! The trends of those twenty years need to be examined.

2001 Census

While the 2001 Census recorded 11,902 registered as Free Presbyterian, the recent Census states that this number was down to 8,433.

Question for us all

That poses a serious question for every Free Presbyterian, especially the ministers and elders of the flock over which the Holy Ghost hath made them overseers.

The question is: ‘Why is there such a decline?”

Increase and expansion is what the people of God may expect when theirs ways please the Lord. So it was in the early Church, as Acts 2:47 shows: “And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.”

There certainly was a time when something of what is stated here of the early church was known and experienced by us. It is not so now and the census sadly makes that abundantly clear.

This decline is something that many believers have observed and a few have dared to speak of. Click to read more…

When will the seven plagues be poured upon the earth?

The Editor had the privilege of preaching the closing message of the Annual Conference in Kilskeery Free Presbyterian Church.

The theme of the conference was : “GOD’S PURPOSES IN CHRIST’S RETURN”.

Response to 'Newsletter' article on Rev Ian Brown

Rev. Ian Brown, minister at Martyrs Memorial FPC

“Rev Ian Brown: Martyrs Memorial cleric finally opens up on why he did not attend Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral – despite a personal invitation”

So read the headline in a ‘Belfast Newsletter’ article of Wednesday, 21st September.

I understand from Rev Brown himself, that he did not attend the funeral for the late Queen because the funeral service was a highly ecumenical service, with representatives present from just about every religion in the United Kingdom.

However, that is not stated in the ‘Newsletter’ article.

What I find very disturbing as a Free Presbyterian who wishes to remain faithful to my ordination oath, whereby I promised before God, in response to the following question: “Will you maintain with all the strength God shall give you the truly Scriptural separation position of the Free Presbyterian Church of Ulster and vigorously withstand the apostasy of Irish Presbyterianism exhorting God’s people the teaching and commandment of I Timothy 6:3-5?” — a very positive “YES”!

It is reported in the ’Newsletter’ that: “The News Letter has spoken to a range of Free Presbyterian clerics from across NI today, and it was clear many of them took that view the funeral service was “ecumenical” or in their view, promoting joint worship involving a range of religions.

However it was also clear some did not see it in that light; others saw it as a state occasion no different to state-led war remembrance ceremonies, where a variety of faith leaders may take part in order to represent the various faiths of military personnel.”

The ’some’ referred to take much upon themselves to declare that there are occasions that the Free Presbyterian ordination oath does not apply and it is in order to fellowship with those God’s Word forbids us to fellowship with. Click to read more…

‘Christian focused’ RE should be scrapped in schools, study says

The day after Queen Elizabeth II is buried this headline appears on the BBC website here in Northern Ireland. I believe it to be ominously significant.

I am not a defender of the ‘religion’ taught in state schools for it is but an amalgam of the ecumenical folly taught in the churches generally.

However, to replace it with the programme these ‘researchers suggest is to make state schools even more the ‘fountainhead’ of anti-Christian teaching.

The news report serves to remind us of those who see it their purpose in life to underline the last vestiges of Bible religion!

Every day seems to present that which demands that Christians act to preserve and encourage ‘Christian Schools’, for Independent Christian Schools present the only hope of preserving true Biblical instruction for school children.

Sincerely in Christ’s name,

Ivan Foster

‘Christian focused’ RE should be scrapped in schools, study says

Laws which mean schools have to teach “Christian focused” Religious Education (RE) and hold a daily act of collective worship should be scrapped, a University of Ulster (UU) research paper has said.

It says more “controversial issues” should be taught in classrooms.

There should also be “joint community schools” rather than religiously segregated ones. Click to read more…

The underlying hatred of Romanism for the British throne illustrated

A fool counselled by fools!

The link to this newspaper article was sent to me and it makes interesting and alarming reading, though couched in diplomatic and non-straightforward terminology!

Let me make a somewhat less diplomatic comment on the theology of the new king. He is a fool counselled and guided by fools!

The religion of the Bible is unique and exclusive, giving ground and space to none.

The Lord Jesus declared authoritatively of Himself and His gospel: “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me,” John 14:6.

There is only ONE DOOR TO HEAVEN. “I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved,” John 10:9. All other religions are fraudulent and lead, not to heaven but to hell.

That is what the Lord Jesus Christ taught!

To speak of other religions as being on an equal footing with the religion revealed in the Word of God is antichristian.

To do so is to totally oppose the traditional teaching of the Church of England of which Charles III is (contrary to the Word of God, I might add) spoken of as the ‘Supreme Governor of the Church of England.’

Biblical Presbyterianism says this on that subject: “There is no other head of the Church but the Lord Jesus Christ: nor can the Pope of Rome in any sense be head thereof; but is that antichrist, that man of sin, and son of perdition, that exalteth himself in the Church against Christ, and all that is called God.”

Westminster Confession of Faith, Chapter XXV, section VI.

It is dangerous to claim, as the English monarchs since the Reformation have claimed, to be in any way the ‘Governor’ of any part of the professing Church of Christ. Click to read more…

A holy hatred

Destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah

“‭Surely thou wilt slay‭‭ the wicked‭, O God‭: depart‭‭ from me therefore, ye bloody‭ men‭.‭ ‭For they speak‭‭ against thee wickedly‭, ‭and‭ thine enemies‭ take‭‭ ‭thy name‭ in vain‭.‭ ‭Do not I hate‭‭ them, O LORD‭, that hate‭‭ thee? and am not I grieved‭‭ with those that rise up‭ against thee?‭ ‭I hate‭‭ them with perfect‭ hatred‭: I count them mine enemies‭‭.‭ ‭Search‭‭ me, O God‭, and know‭‭ my heart‭: try‭‭ me, and know‭‭ my thoughts‭:‭ ‭and see‭‭ if ‭there be any‭ wicked‭ way‭ in me, and lead‭‭ me in the way‭ everlasting‭,‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ Psalm 139:19-24.

In a day when the essence of man’s ‘religion’ is to sanctimoniously declare that they ‘love everyone and hate none’, it is somewhat startling for such to encounter words as these from holy ‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭David‭‭ the king‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬, of whom the Lord said: ‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭“I have found‭‭ David‭ the ‭son‭ of Jesse‭, a man‭ after‭ mine own‭ heart‭, which‭ shall fulfil‭‭ all‭ my‭ will‭.‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ (Acts 13:22).

Hatred plays a vital part in true religion. The Lord Jesus Himself commended the believers in the Ephesian church. “‭But‭ this‭ thou hast‭‭, that‭ thou hatest‭‭ the deeds‭ of the Nicolaitans‭, which‭ I also‭ hate‭‭,‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ Revelation 2:6.

The Lord declared the same hatred of sin in the Old Testament age. “‭Howbeit I sent‭‭ unto you all my servants‭ the prophets‭, rising early‭‭ and sending‭‭ ‭them‭, saying‭‭, Oh, do‭‭ not this abominable‭ thing‭ that I hate‭‭,‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ Jeremiah 44:4. The Lord has not changed in His attitude, His hatred of sin. We, who would be like the Lord, must share in His hatred of evil!

It is hard for the blinded liberal theologians and their apologists to get round these words. They may quibble about the phrase in our text and claim that David was giving vent to sinful emotions, but they cannot say that of the One “‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭Who‭ knew‭‭ no‭ sin‭,” ‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬2 Corinthians 5:21.

Yes, there are things that the Christian must hate.

The word ‘hate’ in our text is a Hebrew word which is translated in our Authorised Version of the Bible by the English word ‘hate’ 136 times, by ‘enemies’ 3 times, by ‘enemy’ 3 times and by ‘hateful’ once and some 146 other words of the same character, (‘hating’, ‘hateth’ etc.)

It is true that we are to ‘hate’ no one. “‭Thou shalt not hate‭‭ thy brother‭ in thine heart‭: thou shalt in any wise‭‭ rebuke‭‭ thy neighbour‭, and not suffer‭‭ sin‭ upon him,‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ Leviticus 19:17.

“‭He that saith‭‭ he is‭‭ in‭ the light‭, and‭ hateth‭‭ his‭ brother‭, is‭‭ in‭ darkness‭ even until‭ now‭,‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ 1 John 2:9.

“‭Whosoever‭ hateth‭‭ his‭ brother‭ is‭‭ a murderer‭: and‭ ye know‭‭ that‭ no‭‭ murderer‭ hath‭‭ eternal‭ life‭ abiding‭‭ in‭ him‭,‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ 1 John 3:15.

However, there is no contradiction between the words of David in the Psalm we are looking at and the words just quoted. They dwell together most amicably when rightly understood! Click to read more…

Christian group blocked at Cambridge college

The following article from the ‘Daily Telegraph’ was sent to me this evening by a kind friend.

It is a harbinger of things to come as the lovers and defenders of moral perversion grow bolder!

Note the implied threat of violence should the wishes of the opponents be ignored!

Sincerely in Christ’s name,

Ivan Foster

Christian group blocked from holding conference at Cambridge college

Christian Concern accuses Fitzwilliam College of rejecting its booking on the grounds that it does not believe in gay marriage

By Gabriella Swerling, Social and Religious Affairs Editor

15 September 2022 • 7:19pm

A Christian group has been blocked from holding a conference at Cambridge University because its values were “not compatible with the values of the college”, the High Court has heard.

Christian Concern has accused Fitzwilliam College of “refusing” permission to book its conference on the grounds of the group’s philosophical and religious beliefs – namely that marriage should be between a man and a woman – and has alleged “discrimination”. The college is disputing the claim and denies discrimination. Click to read more…

UPDATED: Letter to the 'Belfast Newsletter'

Sir,

In Saturday’s edition of your newspaper, there appeared an article headed:

Ben Lowry: There is no reason to think King Charles will be bad for the Union

If that hope is based upon the new king’s repeating promises that he will follow in his mother’s footsteps, I just wonder just how much dependance can be placed in such promises.

Were the late Princess Diana with us still, she might have had a ‘telling’ comment to make!!

Sincerely,

Rev Ivan Foster (Rtd)

Kilskeery, Co. Tyrone

UPDATE:

The above letter was not published by the ‘Belfast Newsletter’ until today, Saturday 17th September.

Few today like a dose of realism.

The contrast to our late Queen’s consistently public calmness was seen in the display of irritation and ill-temper, born of a life-time of undenied privilege, by the new king in the two instances of his pique toward his assistants over the pens on the table on which he was signing the declaration of his monarchy and again at Hillsborough Castle when his pen leaked!

I am confident that his mother never displayed such ill-manners! They show just what may be expected in larger measure when he feels he can abandon the ‘show’ he has been exercising in the wake of his mother’s passing, aimed at having people forget his adulterous marriage and that he is thereby totally unfitted to be a king.

Were there a ‘John the Baptist’ around today I know what he would say. “It is not lawful for thee to have her,” Matthew 14:4. I know also the new king would show a similar sign of disgruntlement as did Herod!

Crocodile tears from Maskey!

Sinn Fein’s Alex Maskey

Here is the astonishing and distressful headline found in today’s ‘Belfast Telegraph’.

Sinn Fein’s Alex Maskey to deliver message to King from the people of Northern Ireland

Utter madness has taken control of Ulster!

Was there ever a more grievous abandonment of propriety and decency than that displayed by this decision, by who knows who, to appoint this supporter of murder and terror to speak on behalf of the people whom he and his ilk, delighted in their being terrorised by his compatriots in the IRA.

Just what will the representative of the Unionist people do in the light of this decision?

Ought not the new King refuse to receive such a hypocritical message.

Let the DUP and its supporters recognise just how dreadful and wicked was the betrayal they were party to in the 2007 decision to join in a power-sharing deal with Sinn Fein/IRA.

The full report reveals that the whole exercise is an ‘ecumenical charade’, with the ‘cross community schools’ the only ones to play a part in the reception of the new King.

How utterly were we betrayed!

Ivan Foster.

Sinn Fein’s Alex Maskey to deliver message to King from the people of Northern Ireland

Matt Fox

September 12 2022 07:17 AM

The King and Queen Consort will receive a message of condolence from self-declared “lifelong republican activist” Alex Maskey at Hillsborough Castle tomorrow.

As Stormont Speaker, the former IRA internee has been tasked with delivering the message on behalf of the people of Northern Ireland, on which it is understood King Charles III will respond.

Tomorrow’s planned ceremony will prove particularly significant as it was the IRA who murdered the King’s much beloved great-uncle Lord Mountbatten on his fishing boat in Mullaghmore, Co Sligo, in August 1979, and has echoes of Martin McGuinness’ handshake with the Queen in 2012.

In 1983, Mr Maskey was the first member of Sinn Fein to be elected to Belfast City Council since the 1920s.

FPC Presbytery Statement regarding the death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II

Presbytery Statement read out in all of our Free Presbyterian Churches on Lord’s Day 11th September, 2022 and which was followed by our congregations standing for a minute’s silence, and concluded by a brief word of prayer.

It was with the deepest sadness on Thursday evening 8th September 2022 that the ministers and ruling elders and members of the Free Presbyterian Church of Ulster learned of the death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

As a Church we lament the passing of a monarch who ruled for over seventy years with dignity, wisdom, and diligence. We thank God for her exemplary, personal, public, conduct as a monarch, and for the stability that she brought to our nation over the seven decades of her illustrious reign.

As a denomination, we express to the Royal Household our sincerest sympathy. Scripture, in 1 Timothy chapter 2, commands the Christian Church to pray “ . . . . for kings and for all that are in authority.” Therefore, we will be interceding for Her Majesty’s family, praying that the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort will impart to their hearts the true consolation of the grace of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

At her coronation service on June 2nd 1953, the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, presented the new Queen with a copy of the Scriptures and said, ‘Our gracious Queen: to keep your Majesty ever mindful of the Law and the Gospel of God as the Rule for the whole life and government of Christian Princes, we present you with this Book, the most valuable thing that this world affords.’

It is still the Holy Bible that carries the infallible message of God for the Royal family, our nation, and the entire Commonwealth. True comfort in life and in death, is found in Christ Jesus alone. The gospel declares, ‘For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him, should not perish but have everlasting life.’

The death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II

Her Majesty on her Coronation Day, June 3rd 1953, as my generation will ever affectionately remember her.

THE DEATH OF HER MAJESTY, QUEEN ELIZABETH II

The news was announced at about 6.35 pm, Thursday 8th September 2022.

She had reigned for 70 years over the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

My heart, and that of my wife, Ann, were chilled when the announcement was made by Buckingham Palace at lunchtime on September 8th, that there had been a downturn in the Queen’s health.

I was in my tenth year when Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, was crowned Queen on 3rd June 1953. She was a lovely young woman of 25 years of age. She has been a very real personage of honour and regard to me all my days since then.

We, as a typical loyal Ulster Protestant family, when I was young, would have held her in high and solemn regard. I can recall when the National Anthem was played on the radio on the occasion of the Queen’s birthday or some such event, our family in our home in Keenaghy, Lisnaskea, would stand to attention in the front of the radio.

Of course, no such regard is to be found abroad today, indeed such actions would be deemed anachronistic!

Since my own conversion to Christ on April 5th, 1964, I have earnestly prayed many times:

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN’.

I fear that her passing will accelerate the sad decline in the morals of the nation. As my good friend, Mr Stephen Toms of Chelmsford, said to me when we communicated recently on the state of Her Majesty’s health: “Whatever her faults she has been a steadying influence amongst many mad men.”

I have mourned on innumerable occasions the fact that in a long succession of Church of England leaders who would have had close contact with her, I have no reason to believe that one of them would have shared with her the warning and the joyful, the solemn and the merciful truths of such scriptures as John 3:16.

“‭For‭ God‭ so‭ loved‭‭ the world‭, that‭ he gave‭‭ his‭ only begotten‭ Son‭, that‭ whosoever‭ believeth‭‭ in‭ him‭ should‭‭ not‭ perish‭‭, but‭ have‭‭ everlasting‭ life‭,” ‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬John 3:16.

Instead they would have pressed upon her the errors of Popery, hence her three visits to the Vatican!

I cling in hope to the fact that she has on occasions indicated in her speeches that she has some knowledge of the Bible. I earnestly hope that she died in that faith spoken of by the Saviour in the verse we have just quoted.

The new monarch will undoubtedly represent the ’new religion’ that passes for ‘Christianity’ today.

Gone will be the exclusiveness of the message of Christ as set forth by Him in John 14:6. “‭Jesus‭ saith‭‭ unto him‭, I‭ am‭‭ the way‭,‭ the truth‭, and‭ the life‭: no man‭ cometh‭‭ unto‭ the Father‭, but‭ by‭ me‭,‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ John 14:6. This was the message of the apostles to the world. Peter said: “‭Neither‭‭ is there‭‭ salvation‭ in‭ any‭ other‭: for‭ there is‭‭ none‭ other‭ name‭ under‭ heaven‭ given‭‭ among‭ men‭, whereby‭‭ we‭ must‭‭ be saved‭‭,‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ Acts 4:12.

Of course, the Church of which the Queen has been titular head, has long ago abandoned such truths and replaced them with the follies and myths of liberal and ecumenical apostasy.

It is that path that the new Monarch will tread, leading the nation further down the road of disobedience and defiance of God, toward inevitable ruin.

As was said of a king in ancient Israel: “‭But Omri‭ wrought‭‭ evil‭ in the eyes‭ of the LORD‭, and did worse‭‭ than all that ‭were‭ before‭ him,‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ I Kings 16:25, so I fear it will be said of the next crowned head of state for there is little, indeed no sign, of evangelical truth within the circle of the Royal Family.

A little knowledge of the Bible will inform us where such trends will end.

“‭Because Manasseh‭ king‭ of Judah‭ hath done‭‭ these abominations‭, ‭and‭ hath done wickedly‭‭ above all that the Amorites‭ did‭‭, which ‭were‭ before‭ him, and hath made Judah‭ also to sin‭‭ with his idols‭:‭ ‭therefore thus saith‭‭ the LORD‭ God‭ of Israel‭, Behold, I ‭am‭ bringing‭‭ ‭such‭ evil‭ upon Jerusalem‭ and Judah‭, that whosoever heareth‭‭ of it, both‭ his ears‭ shall tingle‭‭.‭ ‭And I will stretch‭‭ over Jerusalem‭ the line‭ of Samaria‭, and the plummet‭ of the house‭ of Ahab‭: and I will wipe‭‭ Jerusalem‭ as ‭a man‭ wipeth‭‭ a dish‭, wiping‭‭ ‭it‭, and turning‭‭ ‭it‭ upside down‭.‭ ‭And I will forsake‭‭ the remnant‭ of mine inheritance‭, and deliver‭‭ them into the hand‭ of their enemies‭‭; and they shall become a prey‭ and a spoil‭ to all their enemies‭‭;‭ ‭because they have done‭‭ ‭that which was‭ evil‭ in my sight‭, and have provoked‭ me to anger‭‭, since the day‭ their fathers‭ came forth‭‭ out of Egypt‭, even unto this day‭,‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ 2 Kings 21:11-15.

The United Kingdom will yet learn that there is a price to pay for turning the back upon God’s truth and casting aside the gospel of His dear Son, the Lord Jesus Christ and replacing it with the multi-faithism, the syncretism promoted by church and parliament and Royalty and widely embraced by the blind populace today.

There is every sign, in the world of politics, economics, geographical and environmental affairs, that a crisis of unprecedented proportions is bearing down upon this world.

How few are aware of it or in the least prepared for the climax of this age, which is the return in judgment upon the gospel-favoured nations of this earth, by the Lord Jesus Christ.

“‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭And‭ to you‭ who are troubled‭‭ rest‭ with‭ us‭, when‭ the Lord‭ Jesus‭ shall be revealed‭ from‭ heaven‭ with‭ his‭ mighty‭ angels‭,‭ ‭in‭ flaming‭ fire‭ taking‭‭ vengeance‭ on them that know‭‭ not‭ God‭, and‭ that obey‭‭ not‭ the gospel‭ of our‭ Lord‭ Jesus‭ Christ‭:‭ ‭who‭ shall be punished‭‭‭ with everlasting‭ destruction‭ from‭ the presence‭ of the Lord‭, and‭ from‭ the glory‭ of his‭ power‭;‭ ‭when‭ he shall come‭‭ to be glorified‭‭ in‭ his‭ saints‭, and‭ to be admired‭‭ in‭ all‭ them that believe‭‭ (because‭ our‭ testimony‭ among‭ you‭ was believed‭‭) in‭ that‭ day‭,‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10.

Christian jailed in Ireland at the behest of 'transgenderists'!

Here is a report from today’s “Daily Mail” of a Christian jailed because he would not conform to the demands of the ‘transgender’ lobby in the Church of Ireland school in which he was employed.

He was absolutely right in his refusal. For that he will likely stay in jail until he recants or mercy is shown to him by the courts.

I cannot agree with him being in the employment of the Church of Ireland, an ecumenical, theologically liberal, Christ-denying, union with Rome seeking denomination which, in truth, takes no stand on the issue of female ‘ministers’, sodomy and ‘transgenderism’!

He might well have expected that such a situation would arise when he affiliated with a Church of Ireland establishment.

Long before any Republic of Ireland court ruled that he should not enter the Church of Ireland school premises, the Lord ruled: “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty,” 2 Corinthians 6:14-18.

However, his actions are brave and we should pray for him that the Lord would wonderfully, to His own glory, intervene in this affair.

There will be further like cases in every sphere of society as the Truth of God is more and more abandoned and opposed.

Sincerely in Christ’s name,

Ivan Foster

‘I love my school but I am here today because I would not call a boy a girl’: Teacher who refused to use student’s gender-neutral pronouns condemns ‘insanity’ as he is JAILED in Ireland

  • Enoch Burke was arrested yesterday morning for breaching a court order
  • The order barred him from teaching or being present at his Westmeath school
  • The dispute began over his refusal to address a transitioning student as ‘they’ rather than ‘he’, as requested by the student and their parents in May
  • He was later suspended, and refused to stay away from the school
  • After the ruling, Mr Burke said: ‘I love my school, with its motto Res Non Verba, actions not words, but I am here today because I said I would not call a boy a girl’

By Helen Bruce Courts Correspondent For The Irish Daily Mail

Published: 07:42, 6 September 2022.

A teacher who refused to use gender-neutral pronouns for a transgender student has been sent to Mountjoy prison for contempt of court.

Enoch Burke was arrested yesterday morning for breaching a court order not to teach at his Westmeath school, or be physically present there.

After Judge Michael Quinn made his ruling, Mr Burke said: ‘It is insanity that I will be led from this courtroom to a place of incarceration, but I will not give up my Christian beliefs.’

Counsel for Wilson’s Hospital School’s board of management said it was with a ‘heavy heart’ that it sought Mr Burke’s committal to prison, but she said her client had been left with no choice as Mr Burke continued to attend the school, despite the court order which it had obtained last week.

The dispute began over his refusal to address a transitioning student as ‘they’ rather than ‘he’, as requested by the student and their parents in May, and agreed to by the Church of Ireland school.

This escalated to his suspension on the day before the start of the autumn term, pending the outcome of a disciplinary process.

He had refused to remain away from the school on paid leave for that suspension, the court heard, and would sit in an empty classroom, declaring that he was there to work.

Teacher Enoch Burke (pictured on Monday being brought into the Bridewell Garda station in Garda custody) was arrested yesterday morning for breaching a court order not to teach at his Westmeath school, or be physically present there. Click to read more…

Bethel FPC 50th anniversary sermon

Here is the message I preached today in Bethel Free Presbyterian Church at a service marking the 50th anniversary of the opening of the church building.

I had to curtail my message and leave unsaid some of the matters I had in my notes, so many things demanded utterance as I stood before the people.

However, I have attached the full notes so perhaps you can do a little searching out of the verses I was unable to touch upon.

May the Lord bless you.

Petition against sodomy

PETITION OPPOSING THE CAMPAIGN TO FORCE COUNTRIES OPPOSED TO SODOMY TO LEGALISE THIS LATTER-DAY PLAGUE

Sodomy is a wickedness spawned in hell and hated of God.

“Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination {hateful, disgusting thing},” Leviticus 18:22.

Furthermore, the Saviour has revealed that the proliferation of this wickedness is a sign of the approach of His return.

“And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; but the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed,” Luke 17:26-30.

God’s faithful people should be preparing their hearts and life’s for that glorious day. “Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. . . . . the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut,” Matthew 24:44, 25:10.

We would urge Christians to sign this particular petition.

Sincerely in Christ’s name,

Ivan Foster

AN APPEAL FROM ‘CHRISTIAN VOICE’

“There is a campaign building to pressurise countries in the developing world to legalise sodomy and same-sex marriage. British diver Tom Daley is leading the campaign and the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham joined in with a ‘woke’ opening ceremony.

We have started a Petition: ‘Developing Nations Stand Against Sodomy!’

Please sign the petition here and join the resistance to ungodly measures and Western immorality!”

Deut 8:6 Therefore thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him. (KJV)

Stonewall funding challenged

In a day when ‘gender transitioning’ has taken hold of those beguiled by the notion that a human being can alter their gender, the following report in the ‘Belfast Newsletter’ makes refreshing reading. Such are in outright rebellion against the order the Lord established at the creation of the world (Genesis 1:27) and it is good to see the beginnings of a challenge of the Sinn Fein Stormont minister, Conor Murphy, squandering and misusing public funds on an organisation dedicated to the promotion of all things evil.

May good come of this legal challenge mounted against Murphy and his Stormont department, and a stop put to this profligate wastage of public funds and the promotion of such a reprehensible mania!

Sincerely in Christ’s name,

Ivan Foster

Jamie Bryson claims that the Department of Finance has ‘acted unlawfully’ with its cash award to Stonewall

Stonewall funding: Stormont issued with writ for judicial review by Jamie Bryson

A legal writ for a judicial review has been lodged to challenge the Department of Finance’s continued funding of the controversial pro-trans charity Stonewall.

By The Newsroom

Wednesday, 31st August 2022, 6:00 am

The department confirmed this week that it has given a further £2,500 to the LGBTQI lobby group on top of almost £12,000 granted to it between 2019 and this year.

Sinn Fein Finance Minister Conor Murphy and his department received the proposed claim by the applicant, the loyalist activist Jamie Bryson, yesterday.

In his proposed claim for judicial review, Mr Bryson charges that the Department of Finance “has acted unlawfully in directing expenditure in relation to membership of Stonewall, in circumstances whereby this is a significant and/or controversial matter within the meaning of section 20(4) of the Northern Ireland Act 1998 and therefore absent Executive approval the Minister is deprived of authority to take such a decision.”

In his submission, Mr Bryson has given the department until September 28 to respond to his application.
