Causeway Coast Vineyard - a 'citadel of confusion'!

Causeway Coast Vineyard

When I read the following report from the ‘BBC News,Northern Ireland’ website, I could not help but contrast what Paul tells us of his life and experiences and the lifestyle of those leading this pentecostal ‘superstore/social club’ in Coleraine!

Paul outlines his lifestyle in 2 Corinthians 11:23-28.

“Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I am more; in labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft. Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one. Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep; In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness. Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches.”

Paul’s record of his life is far removed from that of the ‘Coleraine’ apostles whose carry-on brings the gospel into disrepute !!! What a wearing of sheep’s clothing’ goes on in the name of our Saviour!

The BBC report tells us that a report into the conduct of the former ‘pastor’, Alan Scott, identified his behaviour as being marked by “manipulation, inappropriate comments, narcissistic behaviour, and certain occurrences of public shaming and spiritual abuse”.

It is to be noted in what might be called ‘this citadel of confusion’ that the former ‘pastor’, Alan Scott, was charged with that which Paul refers to as a most serious sin.  “Narcissistic behaviour” is listed by Paul as the FIRST of the features of the end-time apostasy.

“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy . . . . ,” 2 Timothy 3:1-2. Click to read more…

Ireland - the most anti-Israel country in Europe

This article is taken from the ‘Jewish Chronicle’. It was written by an Irish man and contains the usual ‘anti-British’ bias but please note its highlighting of the changing attitudes and increased ‘antisemitism’ amongst Irish republicans, north and south, as the street protests here in Ulster shows!

Demonstrators gathered at Writers Square before marching along Royal Avenue to Belfast City Hall – BBC News 15/10/23

Speakers included a number of politicians, Rev Bill Shaw and Dr Hani Mandhi who has family in Gaza – BBC News today, 28/10/23

Sinn Fein/IRA, were to the fore at these protests. That is not surprising since they have been long time allies of Hamas and employed the tactics of the Palestinian terrorists during the many years of the ‘Ulster Troubles’, kidnapping, torturing, murdering men, women and children in their pursuits of their evil cause, were to the fore at these protests! Evil ‘social media postings’ by Muslim medics

The following national headlines of recent days tell much about the true character of ‘Islam’!

Revealed: NHS worker celebrates Hamas terror attacks on Israel and advocates ‘flogging’ of journalists in series of disturbing online posts

NHS doctor mocks Israeli festival-goers fleeing Hamas gunmen in social media post saying: ‘If it was your home, you would stay and fight. You wouldn’t just run away’

NHS Medic Under Fire for Social Media Posts Supporting Hamas Attacks

The religion of the Muslim, commonly called ‘Islam’, began in the 7th century and has many millions of followers. It was advanced through the slaughter of its enemies and critics and opponents.

Muhammad, the founder of Islam, launched raids against many non-Muslims. Muslim sources have revealed that he launched dozens of military raids against various groups, including polytheists, Jews, and Christians. Through these raids, Muhammad became so powerful as an Arab tribal leader that many tribes submitted to him and thus declared their conversion to Islam. The word ‘Islam’ itself means “submission” and “surrender.”

It is impossible that the teaching of Islam will produce true holiness for the life-style of its founder, a model for all Muslims, was profligate and debauched. Muhammad had many wives. The exact number is disputed, but he had somewhere between 9 and 12. He also had many concubines and female slaves.

Muslims say he married these women to take care of them after they lost their husbands. Others believe these marriages were for economic and political reasons.

He was an immoral monster and a paedophile, a molester of children. Aisha was his youngest ‘wife’. He married her when she was six and consummated the marriage when she was nine. Zaynab was his adopted son’s wife, but the adoption was later revoked by ‘Allah’, the name given to the Islamist ‘god’, thus allowing Muhammad to marry her.

Despite these evil truths regarding the beginning of this latter-day heathen deception, Governments and police forces and the press are most loath to label Islam for what it is. That is because Islam, if it is deemed to have been offended or worse still, if ‘Allah’ was ‘blasphemed’, then its people will launch a terrorist ‘jihad’, a ruthless campaign of terror against the offender. The scriptures crying out to be preached!

But the people‭ that do know‭‭ their God‭ shall be strong‭‭, and do‭‭ ‭exploits‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬,‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ Daniel 11:32.

I recall reading that Charles Haddon Spurgeon once said, regarding his selecting of texts to preach on, that when he read his Bible, verses jumped out at him crying out,’PREACH ME’!

Now I am by no means a CHS! But his Bible is my Bible and acts it in a very similar fashion. I cannot read the chapters allocated in my Bible-reading calendar without a similar experience. My days of pulpit preaching appear to be over, but I still can tap with two fingers on my laptop and there are verses every day that demand that I begin tapping!

Today, I read the eleventh chapter of Daniel. I then went on to read 1 Timothy 4. As I read verse 6, “‭If thou put‭‭ the brethren‭ in remembrance‭‭ of these things‭, thou shalt be‭‭ a good‭ minister‭ of Jesus‭ Christ‭, nourished up‭‭ in the words‭ of faith‭ and‭ of good‭ doctrine‭, whereunto‭ thou hast attained‭‭,‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ I was reminded of what I had read in Daniel 11 and heard again the cry to seek to expound what Daniel had recorded of his vision.

Paul, in his exhortation to Timothy was referring to his opening words in chapter 4, when he said: “‭If thou put‭‭ the brethren‭ in remembrance‭‭ of these things‬‬‬‬‬‬ . . . .” The ‘these things’ was the Holy Spirit’s ‘express’ warning of a departure from the faith in the “the latter‭ times‬’. How often the inspired writers were directed of God to disclose events in ‘the latter‭ times‬”!

Preacher — how often do you expound what the Lord would have His people know about these ‘latter‭ times‬’ in which we live?

Could I turn your attention to Daniel 11 and deal with the subject — ‘The character of a faithful remnant in the very last days.’

The verse 32 and the words found there will serve as the basis of this study. “‭‭‭‭‭‭‭But the people‭ that do know‭‭ their God‭ shall be strong‭‭, and do‭‭ ‭exploits‭.‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

The word ‘but’ is a word which introduces a contrast. The people here referred to are indeed a contrast to others referred to in this portion of God’s Word. Let me establish first of all that : Click to read more…

Palestine and Queens University, Belfast

Queen’s University Belfast

The following email has been received by me from Dr Edward Cooke, of Queen’s University, Belfast, Doctor of Philosophy, School of History, Anthropology, Philosophy and Politics.

It highlights, among other things, what I will call: “The unprincipled actions of some foreign student who are here enjoying freedom and benefits they would not have in their home lands. They avail of these benefits and liberties to seek to undermine the very society into which they have been welcomed.”

I say ‘some foreign students’ in order to offset the anticipated cries of ‘xenophobia’ from those loudmouthed ‘educated ejits’ who abound within the world of professed academia.

While it may be only ‘some’, we ought to remember the warning of God’s Word: “Dead flies cause the ointment of the apothecary to send forth a stinking savour: so doth a little folly him that is in reputation for wisdom and honour,”Ecclesiastes 10:1.

And again: “A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump,” Galatians 5:9.

A ‘few’ can do much harm, aided by a left-wing press, which shares their destructive hatred of Bible-based morality.

This is the trend about which God warns us in His Word. I have often quoted Paul’s inspired words of warning regarding these days.

“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away,” 2 Timothy 3:1-5.

The warning of Dr Cooke has been shared with many public representatives. I wonder just what they do with such important information?

Sincerely in Christ’s name

Ivan Foster

I should state Dr Cooke’s email was sent also to many Unionist politicians, not one of whom made any reply!

They are a bunch of gutless beings, enslaved by popular opinion, irrespective of truth and righteousness!

Palestine and QUB

Without the same independent oversight auditing and regulating bodies that exist within England and Wales, the NI university sector has for decades directly and indirectly discriminated against the under-represented and marginalised Protestant, unionist, traditional-conservative, and other Christian student, research and academic communities.  The award of DfE and UKRI PhD scholarships by philosophically orientated, left-of-centre, secular academics is one way in which this marginalisation is perpetrated.  Another way, is in the increasing number of postgraduate students at QUB and UU who are funded by their governments.  Within QUB, Chinese, Iranian and other overseas students are increasingly dominating social science, technology and engineering courses.  The increase in Chinese post-graduate students in the UK is already causing alarm to UK (and American) security organisations. My first step in understanding the apostasy of today

“So they poured out for the men to eat. And it came to pass, as they were eating of the pottage, that they cried out, and said, O thou man of God, there is death in the pot. And they could not eat thereof,”  2 Kings 4:40.

Shortly after I was converted, back in 1964, Dr Ian Paisley preached a sermon: ‘Death in the pot’. It was the means of opening my understanding to the character, source and consequences of the great apostasy which the Bible says is to corrupt and poison the worldwide body of professing Christians in the latter days!

It was my privilege to sit under Dr Paisley in those days, for he was carrying out the task given him of God — WARNING ULSTER OF THE INROADS OF ECUMENICAL APOSTASY WHICH WAS INVADING THE MAINLINE PROTESTANT DENOMINATIONS!

An elementary understanding of the prophetic significance of the scene in 2 Kings 4, led on to the opening up of such verses as 1 Timothy 4:1-5.

“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.”

And also 2 Timothy 3:1-5.

“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.”

Dr Paisley frequently referred to these Bible passages and others akin to them in his preaching back then and I drank in his expositions! Click to read more…

Hamas fugitive living the high life in London

In its accommodating and ingratiating attitude toward Sinn Fein/IRA, the London government has initiated a disposition toward terrorism that hamstrings it and hinders it in its dealing with pro-Hamas protests.

It cannot call the native terrorist, ‘fish’ and its foreign equivalent, ‘fowl’!

The following article, which appeared over the weekend in the ‘Jerusalem Post’, highlights the London government’s compromise.

GB News also carried the story — Horror as it emerges Hamas chief lives in a London council house

A protester holds a flag as he sits on a traffic light post during a pro-Palestine demonstration outside Downing Street in London, Britain, June 12, 2021.

The Prime Minister may speak out boldly when visiting Jerusalem but how pathetic he and his government are at home!

It all foreshadows the drifting toward that moral climate which will end in “‭ . . . ‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭all‭ the world‭ wondered‭‭‭‭‭ after‭‭ the beast‭.‭ ‭And‭ they worshipped‭‭ the dragon‭ which‭ gave‭‭ power‭ unto the beast‭: and‭ they worshipped‭‭ the beast‭, saying‭‭, Who‭ ‭is‭ like‭ unto the beast‭? who‭ is able‭‭ to make war‭‭ with‭ him‭?‭ ‭And‭ there was given‭‭ unto him‭ a mouth‭ speaking‭‭ great things‭ and‭ blasphemies‭; and‭ power‭ was given‭‭ unto him‭ to continue‭‭ forty‭ ‭and‭ two‭ months‭.‭ ‭And‭ he opened‭‭ his‭ mouth‭ in‭ blasphemy‭ against‭ God‭, to blaspheme‭‭ his‭ name‭, and‭ his‭ tabernacle‭, and‭ them that dwell‭‭ in‭ heaven‭.‭ ‭And‭ it was given‭‭ unto him‭ to make‭‭ war‭ with‭ the saints‭, and‭ to overcome‭‭ them‭: and‭ power‭ was given‭‭ him‭ over‭ all‭ kindreds‭, and‭ tongues‭, and‭ nations‭.‭ ‭And‭ all‭ that dwell‭‭ upon‭ the earth‭ shall worship‭‭ him‭, whose‭ names‭ are‭‭ not‭ written‭‭ in‭ the book‭ of life‭ of the Lamb‭ slain‭‭ from‭ the foundation‭ of the world‭.‭ ‭If any man‭ have‭‭ an ear‭, let him hear‭‭,‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ Revelation 13:3-9.

A most marvellous "memory loss"!

“I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins,” Isaiah 43:25.

“I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee,” Isaiah 44:22.

“In those days, and in that time, saith the LORD, the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for, and there shall be none; and the sins of Judah, and they shall not be found: for I will pardon them whom I reserve,” Jeremiah 50:20.

“Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy. He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea,” Micah 7:18-19.

“For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more,” Hebrews 8:12.

Memory loss and old age go hand in hand! It is both vexing and inconvenient to suffer memory loss and many a mental struggle takes place as efforts are made to call to mind that which has ‘mysteriously’ disappeared from our memory bank.

Now, the Lord does not suffer from such an effect of ‘old age’ but we may use the term ‘memory loss’ regarding His memory of the sins of His elect. Micah says of their sins that God will “cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.” That which sinks into the depths, of the seas is termed ‘lost’ in the language of the mariner. The bed of the world’s oceans and seas are littered with vessels long lost and never seen by human eyes again.

Even so it is with the sins of God’s people!

The verses at the head of our article  are but some of the verses from the Bible which set forth God’s most merciful ‘putting away’ of even the memory of the sins of His pardoned people.

I am sure I am not alone in having a horror of my sins being revealed before mankind at the judgment! How blessedly sweet and comforting it is to read words like those of the texts above, when tortured by such thoughts. Click to read more…

Why we should love the Jewish people

As the introduction to this article states, it is the substance of two school assembly talks, in Kilskeery Independent Christian School, I gave to the children back in 2016 to mark ‘Holocaust Memorial Day’, January 27th.

It states some truths that are very relevant in the light of the upsurge of hatred toward the Jewish people, not just on the borders of Israel but reports of anti-semitism are coming in from many lands where there is an ignorance of what modern society owes to the Jewish race.

I trust that it is a blessing to you.

Sincerely in Christ’s name,

Ivan Foster

Why we should love the Jewish people
(Holocaust Memorial Day 2016.)

The substance of two school morning assembly messages given in Kilskeery Independent Christian School, by retired minister and school administrator, Rev Ivan Foster, on 27th and 28th January.

Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: and I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: and I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed,” Genesis 12:1-3.

It is clear from the first words spoken to Abraham, from whom sprang the Jewish people, that he and his descendants would be those about whom there would a division of opinions. There would be those that would “bless” them and there would be those who would “curse” them!

Those that “bless” them would be blessed of God and those that “cursed” them would be cursed of God. They were, in heaven’s eyes, a very special people.

On this day in 1945, there took place the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau Nazi concentration camp. With that event the world was given irrefutable evidence of the cruel and satanic attack upon the Jewish people by Nazi Germany. It has been set as a day to remember that dreadful wickedness.

Today I want to tell you why we should and must love the Jewish people.

1. OUR BLESSED SAVIOUR, THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, WAS A JEW.

We are given the Saviour’s ancestry repeatedly in the Holy Scriptures.

“The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham,” Matthew 1:1.

“Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh,” Romans 1:3. Click to read more…

The time of Jacob's trouble

Here is an article on a topic about which many have only the vaguest notions. We are commanded to ‘search the Scriptures’, especially where they deal with the ‘last days’, in order that we might ‘discern‭ the signs‭ of the times‭’, Matthew 16:3.‬‬‬

Events in Israel are very much as a clock which indicates to us that that tells us that we are drawing nearer to the end of this age and the return of the Saviour in glory.

I trust that this study is a help to all in understanding what lies ahead for the ancient people of God in their homeland.

Sincerely in Christ’s name,

Ivan Foster

‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭THE TIME OF JACOB’S TROUBLE‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

“‭Alas‭! for that day‭ ‭is‭ great‭, so that‭ none ‭is‭ like it: it ‭is‭ even the time‭ of Jacob’s‭ trouble‭; but he shall be saved‭‭ out of it,‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ Jeremiah 30:7.

The student of the Bible cannot hear and see reports of the recent horrific scenes in Israel, wrought by those who are the ‘spiritual’ descendants of the Philistines of old, if not the actual progeny of that race of haters of the ancient people of God, without thinking of our text.

Hamas terrorists on parade in Gaza!

Ezekiel the prophet of old refers to the Philistines, the former occupants of that area today known as ‘the Gaza strip’, in this manner. “‭Thus saith‭‭ the Lord‭ GOD‭; Because the Philistines‭ have dealt‭‭ by revenge‭, and have taken‭‭ vengeance‭ with a despiteful‭ heart‭, to destroy‭ ‭it‭ for the old‭ hatred‭,‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ Ezekiel 25:15.

Note the term, ‘the old hatred’! That is what lies behind the terror attacks of late and the many like acts of savagery of which the present-day Palestinians have been guilty. Click to read more…

Funeral of Mrs. Evelyn Nesbitt

Mrs. Evelyn Nesbitt

Today it was my privilege to take part in the funeral today of Mrs Evelyn Nesbitt, a long-time member of Bethel Free Presbyterian Church.

She went to be with the Lord following a road traffic accident involving her car on Wednesday, October 11th.

Here is a recording of the simple tribute I paid to a godly Christian mother who was a friend for many, many years and a supporter of our witness.

Sammy's sufferings!!

Sinn Fein’s views on Hamas makes it harder to sit down with them, says Sammy Wilson

Sinn Fein’s response to the murderous Hamas attack on Israeli civilians makes it hard to sit down with them, Sammy Wilson said.

So declares the headlines in the ‘Belfast News Letter’ article of 16th October, 2023.

Now I find that hard to swallow for the simple reason that the DUP was able to sit down with Sinn Fein in 2007 AFTER they had manifested every form of support for the murder of many of the DUP’s own kith and kin by the the terrorists of the IRA, some of whom were prominent members of Sinn Fein, such as Martin McGuinness.

Mr Sammy Wilson, MP

That terror campaign had gone on for decades, had cost thousands of lives and injuries of men, women and children. Sinn Fein still gathers at the graves of dead IRA murderers to celebrate and honour their ‘heroic’ depravities and never once have offered any form of regret for the campaign, but rather have insisted that they had no option but to engage in terror — an opinion not shared by even the Government parties of the Irish Republic!

This being so, since in 2007 the DUP went back on the most solemn and oft-repeated vows never to join Sinn Fein/IRA in government and boasted of their most happy working relationship with Sinn Fein/IRA, why should Sammy and Co now find it hard to go back to Stormont and sit with them after they have shown support for foreign terrorists — the same terrorists they were supporting in 2007?

I suggest that the time has come that the circumstances surrounding such a return now does not include the ‘cushion’ of the hope of an end to terrorism here that made their decision in 2007 somewhat palatable and acceptable to all too many Unionists. That ‘cushion’ being absent, the raw political greed and ambition and the absence of any political principle is being felt most uncomfortable by many of the DUP’s supporters.

Sammy Wilson is conscious of the fact that they may well cut their own throat, politically speaking, by throwing over yet again many avowed promises to remain out of Stormont until the outrageous ‘de facto’ expulsion of Northern Ireland from the United Kingdom under the terms of the ‘Windsor Agreement’ is ended by the London government.

That has not happened, no matter what ‘Sir’ Donaldson may claim. He and his party know that, but they also know that their ‘withdrawal protest’ is rapidly running out of steam.

All that remains for them is to generate the impression that they have achieved something by their actions and ‘whitewash’ the stark facts of their failure, eat humble pie and crawl back to Stormont.

That is what is hurting Sammy Wilson!

Ben Lowry: Sinn Fein ambivalence about Hamas and its refusal to condemn the terror group does not make the return of Stormont any easier

People round the world who have been troubled by the Hamas mass assault on Israel will have had their own most upsetting moments.

By Ben Lowry

Published 14th Oct 2023, 04:42 BST
Updated 14th Oct 2023, 11:55 BST

SF could have said it had sympathy for the circumstances that gave rise to Hamas but contempt for what it did

It might have been the news about slaughtered Jewish babies. It might have been the young Israeli woman, bundled out of the back of a Hamas vehicle on her arrival in Gaza, then being pulled by her hair into the front of the vehicle, her trousers soiled with apparent blood, seemingly dazed by an unfolding nightmare. It might have been the glimpse of other kidnapped women, briefly seen inside a car surrounded by screaming Islamic fanatics, also looking delirious with fear. Those going to Gaza face probable torture and/or death.

It might have been the young Israeli woman screaming in fear, being held down on a motorbike towards captivity in Gaza, as a her desolate boyfriend is led off on foot by young men.

Dancers at Nova music festival, above left, at dawn in Israel on October 7 2023, at around 645am, just as gliders with Hamas terrorists were gliding in, barely visible behind as dots in the sky. The man on the right was captured on a car dashboard hunting for more victims to kill hours later, around 930am.

Or it might have been one of the more subtle moments of horror, when you see tense Israelis drained in fear in their homes as they are carefully grilled by Hamas about the whereabouts of their family.

Perhaps the moment that has had most impact on me is the Nova music festival, where almost 300 bodies of murdered young people have been found. It encapsulates so much of the horror of that day, which Jews are calling their worst since the end of the Nazi terror in 1945.

You can see above stills from videos of the festival, held in southern Israel, within about four miles of the border with Gaza. The person who took the footage on the left ranged around the young people dancing, at dawn at around 640am, as the ‘party for peace’ was ending. The video maker then seemed to notice moving dots in the sky. It was Hamas killers coming in on gliders.

Shortly after that clip there is another piece of film which shows police urgently trying to move the dancers, realising that something is badly wrong. They can’t easily get the young folk to move, and you can see a happy young woman, languidly waving to her friends to follow.

Within minutes the Hamas killers were shooting at the festival goers, sending them fleeing across the desert. There is footage of burnt out cars of festival goers, as the escapees were attacked, and reports of people hiding in the woods.

Some internet researchers have pieced together bits of film of the Nova massacre from sources including phones, drones and the dashboard cameras in abandoned cars. It transpires that Hamas were roaming around the site looking for people to kill, or taking money and personal possessions off corpses, six hours after the attack began. The image above right shows a gunman at 930am, hunting for more prey. And dashcam films show they were still there three hours after that.

We know from reports of Nazi and other mass shootings in history that some people escape being killed by falling down and playing dead. Imagine lying at Nova still amidst dead bodies (there were piles of them in parts of the site), no doubt hoping that the killers would move on, and that the Israeli forces would be there soon, in a country normally so adept in its security. Anyone who did that would have had to lie still for six or more hours, presumably turning over in their head every eventuality and hoping that the killers would not set fire to the music festival tents or move between bodies shooting them to be sure. When I first heard of the Hamas raids on Saturday I assumed they would have been brought under control within a couple of hours. In fact it was Monday before order was restored in all locations.

This weekend was an outworking of the stated Hamas to wipe Israel off the map and remove Jews from the region, if need be by genocide. It is one of the worst moments in European history in decades. Everything has changed for Israel and its sense of its own vulnerability.

As it happens I don’t like the Irish republican view of the Middle East is ugly and they don’t like the views of supporters of Israel such as me. There is no space in this column to debate the merits of de-merits of Israel, which I think a state that is a living manifestation of the Jewish genius, surrounded by semi failed states which have medieval attitudes to social issues.

Sinn Fein, indeed most of nationalist Ireland, has a pro Palestinian view of the region. The Republic of Ireland is one of the most unfriendly states towards Israel in the EU. But SF has gone further, and some of its leaders have met Hamas.

It is what happened since Saturday that has been telling. Some intelligence experts have said they badly misread Hamas, that for all its fiery rhetoric it had merely seemed happy to consolidate its control of Gaza, which Israel evacuated in 2005. SF could have said that it had sympathy for the circumstances that gave rise to Hamas but contempt for what it did. Instead it has barely mentioned the terrorist group since the slaughter, but SF politicians have pointed to the Palestinian flag which, at this time, seems a subtle endorsement of the Hamas attack.

On Sunday Gerry Adams, as the scale of the massacre of Jews was becoming clear, posted on X (formerly Twitter) an image of the Palestinian flag in West Belfast and wrote: “The Mountain Speaks! Free Palestine.”

When it turned out an Irish-Israeli woman was murdered at Nova, Mary Lou McDonald wrote: “Thoughts and prayers with the family and friends of Kim Damti as they endure the heartbreak of the loss of her young precious life. A trauma that should not be inflicted on any family”

No mention of Hamas. The same form of wording could have been applied if she had died in a flood. Ms McDonald later said of an Israeli action: “Barbaric. Act of criminal aggression.” Her specific criticisms are of Israel.

The X timeline of Michelle O’Neil, who proclaims herself first minister for all, nowhere condemns Hamas.

This could not have happened at a worse time amid bids to restore Stormont. It is an almost perfect illustration of how political opposites have to share power in NI at all times – unless the rules are changed to exclude unionists (they would certainly never be changed to exclude nationalists).

And while UK ministers are showing the world their full support for Israel and contempt for Hamas, they are piling pressure on the DUP – amid an Irish Sea border – to return to power with a party that has reacted as Sinn Fein has done to this immense Jewish trauma.

O LORD God, to whom vengeance belongeth

“O LORD God, to whom vengeance belongeth; O God, to whom vengeance belongeth, shew thyself,” Psalm 94:1.

I read this Psalm this morning as part of my daily Bible reading. It was scheduled for reading today in ‘Robert Murray M‘Cheyne’s Bible Reading Calendar’.

I could not but notice how appropriate the Psalm is, given the news from Israel over the last couple of days. I would like to take note of some lessons we should learn from recent events in the Holy Land in the light of God’s eternal Word.

This Psalm has not the author’s name attached to it but it is commonly believed to be David. If that is so, it is some 3000 years old and yet its words indicate an application to today’s circumstances which but emphasise the everlasting relevance of the Word of God.

I. THE TITLE GIVEN TO GOD IN THE OPENING WORDS IS ONE THAT EVERY MAN SHOULD NOTE!

He is the God to Whom ‘vengeance belongeth’. He is One Who will demand an account of all men for their actions.

1. This is something every individual should note. That well-known verse in Romans 6, underscores a truth men wish to ignore: “For the wages of sin is death,” Romans 6:23. Sin is followed by judgment, something sin has worked for and which will, in due time, be paid by the God of Justice. The verse goes on to say. “But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” The ONLY alternative to man’s sin and the eternal judgment that it will bring upon the head of the perpetrator is “eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” That is what is offered FREELY in the gospel. Man has but to believe and receive the message set for in Holy Scripture to be delivered from that judgment which his sin will inevitably bring upon him at death. This we are taught by Paul the apostles “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment,” Hebrews 9:27. Click to read more…

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem

Christian, in the light of the terrorist activities in Israel, please heed the divinely inspired prayer request.

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.

Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces.

For my brethren and companions’ sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee.” Psalm  122:6-8.

Statement by TUV

A full page advert which has appeared in the ‘Belfast News Letter’ and the ‘Belfast Telegraph’ which should be read by all Unionists!

Statement by TUV

TUV launches full page newspaper adverts this weekend against any unionist acceptance of the Windsor Framework

Under the banner ‘A time to be vigilant and strong’, the advert pointedly proclaims the Protocol succeeded where the IRA failed – it pushed the border to the Irish Sea! It then sets out seven reasons why Stormont can’t return, including the warning that to operate Stormont under the Protocol is to accept that never again will Northern Ireland be a full part of the U.K., but part of an evolving all-Ireland.

Referencing recent remarks by Leo Varadkar, it declares ‘The Protocol is Varadkar’s path to Irish unity’.

Before reminding readers of the DUP’s seven tests and urging strict adherence to them, the advert warns against false promises, identifying laws merely protecting NI to GB trade or Westminster, rather than Stormont, leading on Protocol implementation, as things which will do nothing “to rectify our annexation into the EU or rid us of the Irish Sea Border or colonial rule.”

Explaining the timing and purpose of the adverts TUV leader Jim Allister said, “After a week of relentless spin to try and force unionists to accept the Irish Sea Border, TUV has taken out these full page adverts in weekend papers to spell out the realities of the Windsor Framework and set out the reasons why Unionists can’t return to Stormont.

“This is a seminal moment for Unionism and therefore we want to be clarion clear on the irretrievable folly of succumbing to the pressure to restart the engine of Stormont under the Protocol and with Sinn Fein at the wheel. Boxed in by a one directional Protocol, Stormont will only ever help, not hinder, the insidious process of our detachment from the U.K.”

The amazing grace of our God

Princess Kate talking to the little Ukrainian girl

“The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them,” Isaiah 11:6.

I was made to think of this verse this morning when I saw the headline on a newspaper website. This verse refers to a future time of blessing when the Lord Jesus shall take up the throne and government of this earth as is recorded in Revelation 11:15.

“And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.”

That event will usher in the time of blessedness, peace and holy knowledge as prophesied by the Psalmist. “All nations whom thou hast made shall come and worship before thee, O Lord; and shall glorify thy name,” Psalms 86:9.

It is a time when every facet of life on this earth will be gloriously changed. Even the animal kingdom will know the benefits of Christ’s reign as our text at the head of this article indicates. A great ‘tameness’ will come upon them to the degree that even “a little child shall lead them”. The words “shall lead’”carries the meaning of ‘carry, guide’. It speaks of animals such as the wolf, the leopard and the young lion submissively yielding to the hand of a mere youngster. When we think of the recent news reports of so-called domestic dogs killing infants within the homes in which they are kept, this verses truly speaks of a great change indeed.

The phrase, ‘a little child shall lead them’, is often applied to the influence of the young upon their elders with regards the things of the gospel. One of the elders in Kilskeery FPC, many years ago, was first made to think of eternal matters when his little daughter, who was a pupil at Lisbellaw FPC Sabbath School, spoke to him in words akin to, Daddy, you will go to hell if you don’t get saved!’.

It is this application of the words that sprang to my mind when I read a headline in one of yesterday’s news’ websites. Kate Middleton reveals how listening to her daughter Princess Charlotte sing a hymn made her ‘very happy’ as she meets young refugees from Ukraine.

That same topic appeared again in today’s press and as I saw it I was reminded of the verse above and the application commonly given it.

One ‘hymn’ that Princess Charlotte sings and which makes her mother, ‘Catherine, Princess of Wales’, to give her her proper title, happy, is entitled ‘Shine Jesus Shine. This is disclosed in a recorded conversation between the Princess and a little Ukrainian girl in the article. Click to read more…

Pope tries again to overturn the Bible

Not for the first time, the Pope of Rome has suggested a way round the clear teaching of God’s Word!

This Pope is following in the footsteps of his antichristian predecessors and is seeking to overthrow what God says and supplant His Word with his own perverted reasoning.

Pope Francis

The mass, the confessional, the nunneries and the monkeries are all the fruit of the perverting thinking of minds deceived and deluded by sin and the devil. Romanism is the predominant charlatan group within ‘Christendom’!

When the Saviour said to the Pharisees, “‭Ye‭ are‭‭ of‭ ‭your‭ father‭ the devil‭, and‭ the lusts‭ of your‭ father‭ ye will‭‭ do‭‭. He‭ was‭‭ a murderer‭ from‭ the beginning‭, and‭ abode‭‭‭ not‭ in‭ the truth‭, because‭ there is‭‭ no‭ truth‭ in‭ him‭. When‭ he speaketh‭‭ a lie‭, he speaketh‭‭ of‭ his own‭: for‭ he is‭‭ a liar‭, and‭ the father‭ of it‭,‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ John 8:44, it was in response to their continued opposition to Him and His Word. The whole chapter 8 records their hatred and ends significantly with the words: “‭Then‭ took they up‭‭ stones‭ to‭ cast‭‭ at‭ him‭: but‭ Jesus‭ hid himself‭‭, and‭ went‭‭ out of‭ the temple‭, going‭‭ through‭ the midst‭ of them‭, and‭ so‭ passed by‭‭,‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ John 8:59.

With regards so-called ’sodomite marriages’, God has repeated uttered the most clear denunciations. In the last but one reference to ’sodomy’, in the Bible we read: “‭Even as‭ Sodom‭ and‭ Gomorrha‭, and‭ the cities‭ about‭ them‭ in like‭‭ manner‭, giving themselves over to fornication‭‭, and‭ going‭‭ after‭ strange‭ flesh‭, are set forth for‭‭ an example‭, suffering‭‭ the vengeance‭ of eternal‭ fire‭,‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ Jude 1:7. Let me repeat the clear statement made by Jude, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, which signifies the attitude of the God of Heaven toward sodomy and sodomites. “Giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.” There is the ‘eternal’ consequences of this wickedness and no amount of sophistry and subterfuge by the pope and popery can alter that eternal truth!

It is no thanks to Popery that there is still a Bible in existence and the true gospel is still proclaimed in this world by a remnant. Popery has burned the Bible whenever it could and when that is beyond its power it, as the Pope is doing, seeks to corrupt and distort and by-pass its true teaching. Click to read more…

In defence of 'Open-air preaching' - Letter

Dr Edward Cooke shared this letter with me a week ago, which he had submitted to the ‘Belfast Newsletter’, and since it has not appeared in that newspaper, I am forwarding you all a copy.

He rightly objects to the attitude of the ‘Belfast Telegraph’ journalist, Lindy McDowell’s scornful attitude toward those who seek to witness for Christ in the open-air.

While I would not give a ‘blanket’ endorsement to all that goes on under the name of ‘open-air gospel preaching’, I believe that there are many earnest souls seeking to warn their fellow countrymen of the need of Christ on the streets, in the absence of any real gospel witness in so many churches today.

Here is Dr Cooke’s letter.

Sincerely in Christ’s name,
Ivan Foster.

Brooklyn Beckham and Street Preaching

Lindy McDowell writes in the Belfast Telegraph today that ‘some of our street preachers are to oratory what Brooklyn Beckham is to gourmet cooking’ and within her article she captions a photograph of the back of a street preacher.  Ms McDowell seems to suggest that the public arena should be reserved only for the intellectuals and professional clergy and that ordinary Christians should be denied their same Human Rights freedoms of those who have been educated in the clerical colleges and the diminishing theology schools in the UK university sector. Yet, the reverse is true, if ordinary individuals are restricted from accessing main stream media and cannot preach in the different denominational churches, then the public arena must be seen as a place sacred for their discourses, no matter how unstructured and poorly polished their religious discourses are.  Paradoxically, Ms McDowell, has access to the mainstream media and gets well paid to air her views, whilst the people she denigrates are denied similar access and give freely of their time to bring people to faith.

Ms McDowell also needs to be mindful of using photographs of people who can be identified.  The person in the hat, with ‘Jesus loves You’ emblazoned on his back, is known to me.   This photograph was taken at the Appleby Horse Fair and was taken outside the Appleby COE parish church.  Moreover, the man in the photograph is a highly effective, courteous man, who gives freely of his time during the ‘gypsy’ raucous horse fair and is accompanied by several other NI ‘street preachers’ who over the years travel to the horse fair to promote the gospel.  These same NI evangelising preachers will recognise this man in the hat, and will be aggrieved that he is associated with the Belfast Telegraph article.

Kindest Regards,
Dr Edward Cooke

Unholy Rejoicing over an Unholy Agreement

I draw attention to a report on the BBC NI website which highlights the ‘unholy rejoicing’ in the ecumenical camp over the 25th anniversary of the ‘Good Friday Agreement’.

It is well named for it is called after the day on which, as Peter put it: “The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go. But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you; and killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses,” Acts 3:13-15.

The GFA witnessed the ‘killing’ of true peace in Northern Ireland and the issuing in of  a ‘peace’ that was bought by placating, to a small degree, the murderers and terrorists of Irish Republicanism!

The ‘GFA’ was a pact with the devil, drawn up by men whose ‘stock and trade’ are lies and deceit. It exonerated terrorist murderers, deemed them upright and honourable and eventually elevated them into government with the assistance of the treacherous ‘power-sharing’ deal the DUP made with Sinn Fein/IRA.

Today, we have those who constantly glory in their decades-long campaign of murder, bombing and terror, overlording affairs in Northern ireland — all as a direct result of the GFA.

That is something only those with no idea of the truth that “The LORD our God is holy,” Psalm 99:9, and who are joined in an unholy amalgam with the aim of destroying the truth of the Bible and delivering us back into the hands of the Papacy, can rejoice over!

As I have often said over the last 50 years, the outcome of the falsehoods of ‘Ecumenism’ will be a total betrayal of our Protestant heritage.

The picture below is a foreshadowing of the ungodly ‘unity’ planned by the ecumenical churches here.

Presbyterian, Methodist and Church of Ireland leaders join with the pope’s men in celebrating the GFA

Here is that BBC report.

Catholic and Protestant church leaders from Ireland have travelled to Rome to mark the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement

They are taking part in an ecumenical prayer service and a seminar, to reflect on events since the peace deal was signed in Belfast in 1998.

In a joint statement, the Irish church leaders said the agreement had saved “countless” lives in the past 25 years. Click to read more…

Madness governs Northern Ireland

Madness governs Northern Ireland to a degree that would have been unimaginable but a few short years ago!

TUV leader Jim Allister

Mr Jim Allister KC, leader of the Traditional Unionist Party, was correct in what he said of the decision to appoint convicted terrorist, Gerry Kelly, to the panel charged with the task of appointing a new Chief Constable of the Police Service of Northern Ireland!

It is a case equivalent to the ‘devil being put in charge of who enters heaven’!

This is a degree of lunacy that is an indication of just what took root when the DUP entered an agreement to share power with Sinn Fein/IRA. From that foul sowing has sprung the innumerable manifestations of our society in the grip of a blind mania, born of a rejection of the wisdom and truth of God’s Word.

For the cause of that departure we point an accusing finger at the ecumenical ‘false prophets’ of the main churches here in Ulster.

Here is a report in the ‘Belfast News Letter’ which contains the comments of Mr Allister.

Sincerely in Christ’s name,
Ivan Foster

Sinn Fein involvement in selecting new PSNI chief constable branded ‘perverse’

Policing Board member Gerry Kelly

The inclusion of a former IRA bomber on a panel responsible for selecting a new PSNI chief constable has been branded “perverse” by Jim Allister.

The TUV leader said that having Sinn Fein’s Gerry Kelly involved in the process is the outworkings of the “constant pandering to republicanism”.

Former chief constable Simon Byrne resigned from the post earlier this month after a High Court judge ruled that two probationer constables had been unlawfully disciplined for an arrest made following an event commemorating the 1992 Sean Graham bookmakers massacre.

Gerry Kelly has been an MLA for North Belfast since 1998 and sits on the NI Policing Board. Click to read more…

A very big lie

This headline appeared on the local BBC news website this morning.

Derry declared UN International City of Peace

This most undeserved ‘honour’ was bestowed by that organisation which is but a ‘den of lying, poisonous vipers’, the United nations!

David Latimer and his ‘friend’, the late IRA terrorist leader, Martin McGuinness

This headline appear in a newspaper just under three weeks ago.

Molotov cocktails thrown at police in Derry with KIDS involved in riot

Parents of such junior terrorists must bear much blame for the actions of the children involved in these riots and I am sure that many would have encouraged their offspring to engage in such lawlessness.

Londonderry, or ‘Derry’ as Irish republicans would insist on it being called, was the ‘birthplace of the 1969 riots which in turn gave rise to some 30 years of IRA terrorism.

It still harbours the offspring of that terrorism in the form of the ‘dissent’ IRA, an republican group which is extensively striving to re-ignite the terrorism of former years.

This is a familiar headline in recent years.

Police uncover weapons in Derry ‘dissident hide’

Yet the UN has the brazen audacity to speak of this city as a ‘city of peace’!

In truth, it has long been a city of terror, murder, rebellion and persecution! The ‘Fountain Estate’, within the city was a Protestant enclave of some 1500 people. That has been reduced by over 80% by constant attacks by Roman Catholic republicans.

Read the following report from some 5 years ago in the nationalist, ‘Irish News’.

Protestant enclave once a thriving community

The article, dated 10 July, 2018, commendably reports that: “Despite the dramatic drop in its number of residents, the interface has been repeatedly targeted in sectarian attacks during contentious periods – with residents saying that a ‘siege mentality’ still exists.”

The UN shamefully honours such activities by the republican majority within this city.

Naturally, the enemies of truth and righteousness hail this honour. The BBC reports contains these comments.

“The city and district’s inclusion in the prestigious initiative was led by the former First Derry Presbyterian Minister, Rev David Latimer. Rev Latimer has worked on numerous peace and reconciliation projects, many involving local young people. ‘If people are enjoying security, prosperity and quality of life then they will not think about lifting up guns and bombs.’ ”

Latimer is a rejector of the true gospel of Christ, a notorious apostate from Biblical truth. His endorsement gives an insight into the thinking behind the UN announcement and but proves the sickening deceitfulness behind the bestowing of this dubious ‘honour’!

Ivan Foster

The ‘partiality’ of the ‘Impartial Reporter’!

On Monday 18th September, I received the following email at 8.03 am.

Hi Rev Foster,

Long time, no speak.

Rodney Edwards here, now the Editor of The Impartial Reporter.

I would be very keen to feature you in the paper this week regarding your comments on the DUP and a ‘United Ireland’.

Would you care to expand on those thoughts in a 900-word piece?

At 11.29, I sent in the requested article. However, unsurprisingly, it was not received with enthusiasm by the ‘Impartial Editor’.

I set forth excerpts from his response.

Thanks, Rev. Foster.

The term ‘sodomy’ is pejorative and, indeed, offensive to very many. Can I change this to homosexuality?

I have a responsablity, (sic) you will understand, to be careful with our use of language and not to cause offence.

I defended my position and refused to allow any substitution of the Bible term ‘sodomy’. Click to read more…

Sabbath football

I have just sent the following letter into the ‘Belfast Newsletter’ in response to an article in today’s edition:

Irish League: More Sunday football could be on the cards as NIFL chief executive Gerard Lawlor unveils new five-year strategy to grow local game

Perhaps you could pray that it is printed.

Sincerely in Christ’s name,

Ivan Foster

Dear Editor,

I must comment on the article in your newspaper: “Irish League: More Sunday football could be on the cards as NIFL chief executive Gerard Lawlor unveils new five-year strategy to grow local game.”

‘Nationalist have long desecrated the Sabbath Day by their Gaelic games’

This ‘plan’ involves an insulting and nigh blasphemous call by the Northern Ireland Football League chief.

His call entails a breaking of God’s commandment regarding the observance of the Sabbath Day. Furthermore, he adds insult to injury by calling for a ‘adult’ conversation.

He is reported as saying: “I’m a traditionalist and we all want to play at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon, but to evolve and develop we need to come outside of our comfort zone. All I’m asking for is people to soul search. I’m asking for adult conversations.”

By adult, he obviously means an absence of any reference to God and the Bible in any ‘conversation’, even as he as a Nationalist ignores God and His Word regarding the keeping of the Sabbath. Rather, let it be, as he states, all about ‘helping to grow the local game with increased attendances and additional revenue.’

Increased attendances and  more money for the organisers of this sport is his sole motivation!

That is the be all and end all of so many in today’s Bible-rejecting society.

Why were not more terrorist attacks stopped in Belfast?

The late Reginald Maudling MP

In today’s (15/9/23) Irish nationalist newspaper, ‘The Irish News’, the following headline appears.

Stakeknife: British intelligence may have been aware of every IRA operation in Belfast

The secretive world of anti-terrorist undercover operatives and their activities will never be fully known. It would be to the endangering of many and the shaming of high officials who sanctioned what amounted to unlawful actions on many occasions.

If there is an ounce of truth in the above headline then the question must be asked, ‘Why were not more terrorist attacks stopped  in Belfast?’

Away back in 1971, 52 years ago, British Tory Home Secretary, Reginald Maudling, a cabinet minister during Edward Heath’s infamous premiership, spoke of an “acceptable level” of violence in the Northern Ireland conflict.

This took place in a December 1971 press conference in which he stated that the British government could not eliminate the Provisional Irish Republican Army’s terrorist attacks but only reduce them to an “acceptable level”. Critics maintained that any violence was unacceptable. Nevertheless, the concept influenced the British government’s strategy in dealing with Northern Irish terrorism, and continues to be used in discussions of ongoing political violence in Northern Ireland.

What Maudling said was an unmitigated lie and the disclosure of a policy of mere containment of the IRA while the terrorist organisation carried out what had become British policy. That policy was gradually to move Northern Ireland out of the UK into a united Ireland by using the terrorism of the IRA to weary the Ulster unionist population of the turmoil and make them ready to sue for a ‘peaceful’ solution! Parental opposition to RSE - time will tell how far it will go!

DUP’s Carla Lockhart

The article below appears in today’s (13/9/23) ‘Belfast Telegraph. I welcome the matter of the grossly immoral material of the ‘RSE (relationships and sex education)’, forced upon Northern Ireland secondary schools by our arrogant, ‘double-barrelled buffoon’ of a Secretary of State, Christopher Heaton-Harris, being raised in the House of Commons.

However, I take issue with the notion that ‘Parents in Northern Ireland are genuinely angry, they are fearful, teachers are feeling vulnerable and fearful’, as being a true picture of the response to this evilly invasive interference in the affairs of the educating of children in Ulster, by London ‘Mandarins’!

Yes, there is discontent with the corrupt teaching, born of the liberal and perverted thinking of this God-rejecting age, that is contained in the RSE scheme the children are going to be taught. But I see no signs of an angry response amongst parents that warrants the warning issued by the two DUP MPs — “Interfere in our children at your peril!”

Today’s Protestant parents have embraced the teaching of evolution as a fact, when it is in truth only a theory. They have in like manner tolerated the introduction of literature texts which employ grossly foul language and explicit sexual narratives. They have not manifested any real opposition to the topic of ‘LGBT++ism’ and the pushing of the perverted notions of that element within our society.

Therefore, I see no signs of any real change of attitude amongst parents today toward these latest immoral innovations being introduced to the classrooms of their children.

There have been rallies organised by various groups to highlight the corruptions of this RSE scheme. Have Protestant parents been flocking to them? That is not the case as far as I am informed! Click to read more…

An appeal to our ‘Burning Bush’ web page readers

“Burning Bush” website banner from 18 October 2000

The ‘Burning Bush’ publication started out in 1970 as a very simple 4 page – A4  sized folded publication. It was very basic in its design and structure. My wife typed up my articles (after a grammatical examination!) and I then cut up the typed article and stuck it on a template and it was then copied from that and a few hundred copies printed off by the late Pastor Brian Green in London. It was not distributed on a regular basis at the first but issued only when there was a matter to be addressed. But very soon, for the sake of cost, it was changed to an A4 sized sheet folded in half to make a 4-page A5 publication and copied by ourselves. That was issued somewhat irregularly until 1988, when the IRA bombed the ‘Poppy-day’ remembrance service in Enniskillen on 8th November, murdering 11 people and injuring many dozens, very seriously, in a ‘no warning’ bombing. The bomb was placed in a Roman Catholic property adjacent to the war memorial where the service had traditionally taken place.

Details of that horrific crime were given in the publication I produced at that time, “The Remembrance Day Massacre in Enniskillen” and of which some 50,000 were distributed world-wide. From that time, ‘The Burning Bush’ became a standardised ‘tabloid-sized’ publication, issued on a monthly basis until its final edition in early 2007 when the newspaper edition ceased and it became only an Internet publication.

The first edition of ‘The Burning Bush’, March 1970 on the left and a later copy on the right, from March/April 1981

The articles in my printed edition were first mounted on a website provided for me by Mr Steven Lee, the founder of ‘SermonAudio’ from about 1998 until I moved to my own present website, set up by my son, Rev Andy Foster, minister of Penticton Free Presbyterian Church in Canada.

The reason I parted company with ‘SermonAudio’ may be seen in the following articles. “My sermon on Dr Beeke’s errors removed from SermonAudio” and “Why I have closed my account with SermonAudio”.

I was saddened that I had to leave SermonAudio for Mr Lee had been very kind to me, placing some of my sermons amongst the first that were mounted on his pioneering website. However, by God’s grace I have ever been ready to take whatever measures necessary, irrespective of the consequences,  to preach and publish what Paul the apostle called, “all the counsel of God”. I must confess, that became increasing costly in terms of personal relationships amongst some of my ministerial brethren.

The second edition of ‘The Burning Bush’, April 1970.

I was brought up, in my first months as a Christian, under the bold preaching of Dr Ian Paisley in 1964, when he from his pulpit in the old church on the lower Ravenhill Road, Belfast, stoutly denounced the apostasy and defended his action most boldly and unequivocally, when challenged, from the Word of God. I still recall the impression made upon me by a message he preached one Lord’s Day evening in the summer of 1964. It was upon the words of Paul in Acts 20.

“And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house, testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there: save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me. But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God,” verses 20-24.

The atmosphere of that meeting and the impact of what was said, have lived with me ever since. For that reason I felt that I could not be curtailed in my denunciations of sin and compromise and must sadly part company with ‘SermonAudio’.

The number of visitors to our ‘Burning Bush’ website since 1998, when it first was mounted on the Internet, presently stands at some 1,06,780, even as I write this letter. That is, of course, a very small number compared to the many faithful gospel sites on the Internet which have a much greater outreach. But I count it a blessing from the Lord that a witness established in weakness and maintained by a mere handful of people, in what might be considered the ‘backwoods’ of County Tyrone in north western Northern Ireland, has reached to the far corners of the earth with the truth of God! I rejoice in each and every visitor. For a preacher who has ministered to no great crowds, it is wonderful to be able to witness to over one million visitors to our website over the last twenty five years.

The visitors to our website come from all over the world, from lands where I will never visit and even if I could, I would find it difficult to preach the Word of God, given the opposition to God and His Truth within the regime governing those lands.

I have often wondered about the individuals whose hearts were moved to visit the site, whose eyes read over the articles mounted and who may have listened to my ‘Ulster’ brogue with a degree of puzzlement! The information available to me of the visitors coming to the ‘Burning Bush’ website is limited to when they visit, what they look at on our website, how long they stay and the country where they live. I don’t know their exact location though I believe that I could seek out, with some decree of exactness, the general area within the country from which they are computing, but that is all.

As I say, I have often looked at the statistics available to me and wondered about the person or persons behind the visits. Is it a man or is it a woman? Is it a young person? Were they Christians looking for information on the issues I deal with in my articles? Were they those anxious to obtain some knowledge of the message of the Bible?  Did they copy the article or the sermon recording  they downloaded and share it among friends? Were their neighbours gathered in by those who visited our website and downloaded items from  it and  were they shared with those neighbours? Have any been brought savingly to faith in Christ and converted by what they read or heard on our website?

Of course, I don’t know the answers to these questions. BUT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW! I am sure that is understandable.

I have of course received many emails from readers of the ‘Burning Bush’ since it was first commenced some 53 years ago, 99.9% of which have been a blessing to read. A few have been angered by what they have read in our publication or on our website. While it has not brought me joy to read the often times angry epistles for invariably they were tainted with falsehoods and vitriol, though I always recall a statement from that great Ulster evangelist, W P Nicholson, who in his own distinctive style, used to respond to those who complained about his blunt style of preaching, by saying: ‘When you throw a stone amongst a pack of dogs, the one which squeals is the one you have hit!’

I have hit a few readers, who I believe needed to be ‘hit’, since 1970!

Now as I have said, I would like to know something more about those who visit our site. That is why I am writing and publishing this letter as my 80th birthday is but weeks away. If any feel that they could let me know at least something of any help or benefit of blessing they have received from the articles or recordings on the website and if they share copies of the articles or audio sermons amongst their friends and acquaintances, it would be a great joy for me to hear from them.

I prayerfully leave the matter with our visitors with, of course, a solemn assurance that all information I receive will be treated in the strictest confidence and I will not respond to any such contacts except with a brief word of thanks, except where I am asked to correspond further.

Your servant in the glorious gospel of Christ,

David leaves us a lesson in true repentance

Nathan accuses David of adultery,
Matthias Scheits, 1672

Some brief comments on Psalm 51 — Part 1.

{By Rev Ivan Foster, Rtd}

This Psalm was part of my daily reading today (9.9.23). I have read it many times before BUT I always see something fresh and to the blessing of my soul.

We must ever remember the words of John.

“If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us,” 1 John 1:8-10.

Because we ever sin and have need of repentance, which is a gift from God and not self-induced (Acts 5:31), we need the instructions and guidance given us here by divine inspiration from the pen of David.

As the fall of the Jewish people brought blessings to the Gentiles, (Romans 11:11-12) even so the sad lapse by David has brought instruction to all believers who read the Bible and find themselves in the same erring circumstances as David, perhaps not the exact same turn of events but in the same place of disobedience and transgression as his terrible offence.

From the title of the Psalm given us in our Authorised Version, there come some precious truths.

To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet came unto him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba.

1. Even when we deserve to be forsaken, the Lord pities erring believers.

David’s sin was a most grievous breach of God’s Law, made all the more so in that the Lord had permitted David to have many wives, in exemption to the general order established by Him. For him then to steal the wife of a good, loyal and godly soldier like Uriah by murdering him, was a most heinous crime.

 2. God’s mercy always comes to us via His Word.

Nathan was sent of God to David. “And the LORD sent Nathan unto David,”2 Samuel 12:1. It was not an easy task to undertake. I have no doubt that the actions of David, surely known by all within his court, would have been most distressing to a man of God such as Nathan. Furthermore, approaching David on such a solemn mission with a most dreadful outcome, would not have been easy. David was at the zenith of his kingly power. Perhaps this why Nathan never approached David before being sent on that task by the Lord. Click to read more…

4 Problems With Western Australia’s New Abortion Laws

Photo by Hal Gatewood on Unsplash

The following article was sent to me by a reader in Perth, Western Australia. It highlights the horrendous attitude toward the aborting of healthy babies for mere whimsical notions on the part of both mothers to be and their doctors, and is a universal plague.

Such an inhuman and cruel attitude to the destruction of life human life was part of the accusation laid against Judah of old and made part of the reason the judgment of God fell upon that people.

Consider these words:

“‭And they left‭‭ all the commandments‭ of the LORD‭ their God‭, and made‭‭ them molten images‭, ‭even‭ two‭ calves‭, and made‭‭ a grove‭, and worshipped‭‭ all the host‭ of heaven‭, and served‭‭ Baal‭.‭ ‭And they caused their sons‭ and their daughters‭ to pass‭‭ through the fire‭, and used‭‭ divination‭ and enchantments‭‭, and sold‭‭ themselves to do‭‭ evil‭ in the sight‭ of the LORD‭, to provoke him to anger‭‭,‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ 2 Kings 17:16-17.

These words are part of a lengthy indictment of Israel by the Lord. These two verses link the abandonment of the commandments of God by a people and their cruel mistreatment of children.

Those two crimes are indissolubly linked in the widely accepted behaviour of today’s society. The murder of the unborn is increasingly becoming legal, with less and less restriction being placed upon the circumstance in which an unborn baby may be brutally killed.

As I have often said: the blame for the renunciation of everything God deems sacred and the dreadful crimes that are then sanctioned by the law, lies at the feet of the false prophets in apostate denominations, of which we have some here in Ulster.

There is a day coming when all engaged in this wickedness will stand before the Lord and give an account of their depraved actions and then enter into the eternal consequences of their crimes!

Ivan Foster

4 Problems With Western Australia’s New Abortion Laws

(Article published in the THE EPOCH TIMES)

By Peter Abetz

Commentary

The Abortion Legislation Reform Bill 2023 has been sold to the public as being necessary to bring it into line with other states and “modernise” Western Australia’s (WA) abortion law.

The reality is that it does neither.

Most significantly, the Bill fails to include four important provisions that the South Australian Parliament included when it changed its abortion law in 2021.

In light of research conducted at La Trobe University, which found that in some ethnic communities in Australia, there are 125 boys born for every 100 girls, South Australia included a ban on sex-selection abortions.

It is abhorrent to think that WA’s Bill will now allow a baby to be aborted simply because it is female. Click to read more…

O Israel, thou hast destroyed thyself

Former DUP leader and NI First Minister Peter Robinson

Try as I might, I could not ignore these comments by Peter Robinson, who was one of the main architects of the ‘power-sharing’ deal with Sinn Fein/IRA in 2006/7.

That was the political catalyst that has brought about the disastrous situation that Unionists find themselves in today!

Here is my response!

Sincerely in Christ’s name,

Ivan Foster

“‭O Israel‭, thou hast destroyed‭‭ thyself,” ‬‬‬‬Hosea 13:9.

I saw this ‘Belfast telegraph’ headline this morning, when it was sent to me by a friend, and could do nothing other than smile!

Peter Robinson responds to ex-DUP man’s ‘new Ireland’ prediction: ‘Defeat will first originate in your head’”

The former party leader has responded to comments made by DUP co-founder Wallace Thompson

The ‘comments’ referred to by Mr Robinson were those of Mr Wallace Thompson who is described in a Belfast Telegraph’ article, an interview with him by Mr Sam McBride, as: “ . . . a Paisleyite, a founding member of the DUP, a former special adviser to Nigel Dodds, and a leading evangelical Protestant, but Wallace Thompson now believes a form of Irish unity is inevitable — and he’s willing to consider it.”

What I found laughable in Mr Robinson’s comment was the brazen assumption that every Unionist in Northern Ireland will have forgotten that the ‘defeat’ Peter Robinson is referring to, originated in the ‘heads’ of the DUP leadership, who in a fit of political greed and an unbridled desire for political advance, sold out to Sinn Fein/IRA and placed them in the place of power, which they, with devilish cunning, have used to seize the domination they now enjoy! Further evidence of the accuracy of Bible prophecy

YET FURTHER EVIDENCE OF THE ACCURACY OF BIBLE PROPHECY AND THE APPROACH OF THE END OF THIS AGE

“And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived,” Revelation 18:23.

This is the headline and the opening line of an article in ‘The Irish Examiner’ of 4th September 2023.

Irish gangs ‘have travelled to South America to discuss importing fentanyl’

The synthetic opiate is 50 times more powerful than heroin and has killed thousands in the US

It clearly indicates how that ‘drug smuggling’ has almost attained to the status of a legitimate business activity. What used to be called ‘smuggling’ is now referred to as ‘importing’! The ‘drug business’ rivals the largest international commercial enterprises. It is reported that such evil activities involve vast sums of money.

A United Nations publication of 1998, ‘Economic and Social Consequences of Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking,’ states that:

“With estimates of $100 billion to $110 billion for heroin, $110 billion to $130 billion for cocaine, $75 billion for cannabis and $60 billion for synthetic drugs, the probable global figure for the total illicit drug industry would be approximately $360 billion. Given the conservative bias in some of the estimates for individual substances, a turnover of around $400 billion per annum is considered realistic.”

These activities of the illegal (on paper anyway) suppliers of ‘street drugs’ can be reported in newspapers yet the police forces of the world cannot really do anything to stop their activities.

Another headline, this time in a British newspaper, heralded the truth of the growing acceptance of this illegal practice. We’ve surrendered on drugs – and not one MP will fight it(Daily Mail-2nd September 2023). There is the following statement in that article: “But the police and courts do nothing to prosecute the serious crime of drug possession, the only proven way to combat the problem.”

There has always been the use of drugs, from the ‘legal’ alcoholic beverages which lie at the centre of a world-wide business empire, to the use of such drugs as opium by wealthy Victorians.

But never has there been such a universal usage as is currently the case. Even children have been entrapped in this evil undertaking, both as ‘workers’ in the distribution of them and addicts!

I say that this ‘phenomenon’ is foretold in the Word of God. In the beginning of this article, I quote Revelation 18:23. We have there a statement regarding the capital of the Antichrist’s empire, the city Babylon, yet to be rebuilt.

Verse 10 of this chapter, records the cry of the merchants who will thrive under Antichrist’s brief reign: “Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.” That judgment will bring to an end their mercantile activities. Amongst those activities there was that of “sorceries” by which “all nations (were) deceived”.

The word ‘sorceries’ is a very important and informative one, the implications of which can be easily overlooked. The Greek word translated ‘sorceries’ is pharmakeia. It is the word from which we have our English word ‘pharmacy’. The Greek word carries the meaning of ‘the use or the administering of drugs’!

In other words, these antichristian merchants, will be engaged in a trade whereby “all nations (within Antichrist’s domain, are) deceived”, or ‘caused to stray, led astray, led aside from the right way’. Click to read more…

Crumbling Britain!!

Photo by Jimmy Ofisia on Unsplash

I can but excuse myself for sending out yet another article today by quoting Jeremiah!

“Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay,” Jeremiah 20:9.

Most sincerely in Christ’s name,

Ivan Foster

CRUMBLING BRITAIN!!

It is almost impossible to keep up with the visible evidences of the withdrawal of God’s kindness and mercy toward our nation, occasioned by the continuing and stubborn defiance of the Lord by the nation’s leadership, political and ecclesiastical, and its general population.

Blindness and ignorance of God’s truth has engendered the notion that we can ‘thumb our nose’ at the Lord and His truth, without any ramifications. That is most certainly not so!

“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting,” Galatians 6:7-8. This warning was written some 2000 years ago but is imperatively true still today!

Of late there has arisen, suddenly and without warning as far as the general public are concerned but that which must have been known by various agencies of government for quite some time, a great alarm about the innumerable buildings which were constructed by using a ‘a cheap version of concrete, and which are now in danger of collapse.

As a result, belatedly, schools have been forced to close on the very eve of a new school year. Click to read more…

The criteria of a man of God

“Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, eat that thou findest; eat this roll, and go speak unto the house of Israel. So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat that roll. And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness. And he said unto me, Son of man, go, get thee unto the house of Israel, and speak with my words unto them,” Ezekiel 3:1-4.

On August 29th, I began reading the book of Ezekiel as part of my daily reading. On Thursday, the last day of August, I read the above verses at the beginning of the chapter in Ezekiel for that day.

I was immediately struck by what it was the Lord said to Ezekiel and saw the character and features of a true servant of God set out in the verses. I would like to share the thoughts that arose in my heart at that time.

While there is much in this book which, on the surface, appears ‘hard to understand’ (2 Peter 3:16), that difficulty arises from the dulness of our minds regarding the things of God and is not to be made an excuse to avoid reading and studying this wonderful book.

The verses which head this article are not difficult to ‘decipher’! The Lord here speaks plainly though employing metaphorical language at times.

I. THE FIRST THING I NOTICE ABOUT A TRUE MAN OF GOD IS HIS CALL BY GOD TO BE HIS SERVANT.

“Moreover he said unto me, Son of man . . . .”

I recall that early in my Christian walk, I heard Dr Paisley quote a saying by the great C H Spurgeon. The honoured Baptist preacher was in conversation with a young man who was enquiring about the requirements of being a preacher of God’s Word. CHS questioned the young man on his desire to be a preacher and told him that if there was anything else in life that he COULD DO, then he was to do it! Preachers are men who can do NONE OTHER than preach. They are driven men.

It is true, many of God’s great servants were most reluctant to respond to God’s call. Moses was one such. He put up many objections. This was the final one. “And Moses said unto the LORD, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue,” Exodus 4:10. The Lord answered this objection also. “And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man’s mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD? Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say,” Exodus 4:11-13. Click to read more…

Time is but ‘a little while’!

“For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be,” Psalm 37:10.

It is acknowledged by many scientists that the universe is boundless. Every new and improved telescope that man has produced gives evidence of this truth. The Evolutionists pontificate about the ‘big bang’ as being the origin of the universe billions of years ago and that it is ever expanding, but I do not believe either notion.

Genesis chapter 1 tells us clearly HOW the universe came into being. Nehemiah wrote: “Thou, even thou, art LORD alone; thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and thou preservest them all; and the host of heaven worshippeth thee,” Nehemiah 9:6.

I believe that here the prophet is telling us, by divine inspiration, that there was an immediate and complete creating of all that exists.  Isaiah the prophet put it like this. “It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in,” Isaiah 40:22. Here the prophet is telling us, again by divine inspiration, that as one pulls across a curtain or erects a tent, so the Lord in the six days of creation, stretched out — spread out the heavens in one glorious act so that what they are today came into existence on the second day of creation. “And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day,” Genesis 1:6-8.

Here is a Christian scientist’s view on the subject: Age of the Universe

I. FROM THE BEGINNING OF TIME AT THE CREATION UNTIL ITS END, AT THE GREAT WHITE THRONE OF JUDGMENT, IT IS BUT A SHORT PERIOD!

1. Of course, that is God’s view of time for He sees it in the light of His eternity. There is just no illustration that comes anywhere near setting forth this truth. To speak of a speck of dust in comparison to the earth, falls very far short of truly illustrating the contrast between time and eternity! If we were to replace the earth with the endless universe, we might be getting nearer to a proper resemblance of the true relationship between ‘time’ and ‘eternity’!

2. God has ordered all things that will take place within the sphere of time. This is a mystery to our human minds. It appears to contradict the freedom of man and seems to suggest fatalism, we cannot do other than that which God has predestinated! Click to read more…

Letter - Relationship and Sexuality Education - RSE

The following letter by Mr Samuel Morrison, Press Officer with the Traditional Unionist Voice party, appeared in today’s ‘Belfast Newsletter’.

I know it will be of interest to our readers.

Sincerely in Christ’s name,

Ivan Foster

The Relationship and Sexuality Education curriculum

Mr Samuel Morrison
Press Officer
Traditional Unionist Voice

Back in June the Secretary of State announced that he was bringing in changes to the Relationship and Sexuality Education (RSE) curriculum in Northern Ireland. These changes did not come out of the blue. They are a direct consequence of Section 9 of the Northern Ireland (Executive Formation etc) Act 2019. Section 9 is of course the same piece of legislation which stripped Northern Ireland’s unborn of the protection of the law and created one of the most permissive abortion regimes in Europe. Another consequence of the 2019 Act was the redefinition of marriage.

As the title of the legislation suggests, it also provided for the formation of an executive. Anyone who went into government on the basis of the 2019 Act did so on the basis of legislation which redefined marriage, introduced abortion and paved the way for the changes to RSE. That may be a fact which makes some in the DUP rather uncomfortable – particularly when one remembers just how long the Executive formed on the basis of the Act lasted – but fact it is nonetheless.

The changes in relation to our abortion law has already had radical consequences. Up until October last year, 4,136 were performed in Northern Ireland since the law changed at the end of March 2020. Contrast that with the situation between 2014 and 2019 when a total of 65 abortions were performed across Northern Ireland and it cannot be denied that the increase in the number of abortions is astronomical. One would be hard pressed to maintain an argument that there is a lack of information on how to access an abortion.

Yet information on how to access abortions is exactly what the Secretary of State is bringing into our schools. The Relationships and Sexuality Education (Northern Ireland) (Amendment) Regulations 2023 state that secondary schools will have to teach “age-appropriate, comprehensive and scientifically accurate education on sexual and reproductive health and rights covering prevention of early pregnancy and access to abortion”.

Tellingly, there is no provision for the ethos of schools in the regulations – something which will set schools in Northern Ireland apart from their counterparts in the rest of the U.K.

Furthermore, suggestions that those who are concerned about these matters will have opportunity to feed into a consultation are at best being disingenuous. Any curriculum must be faithful to the legislative framework which frames abortion in terms of a “right”.

Simply put, the regulations lay the groundwork for secondary schools in Northern Ireland to be required to teach a moral wrong is actually a civil right. It will do so without any regard for the conscience of the teacher or the ethos of the school.

While the Department of Education has been quick to seize on salacious and inaccurate information spread by one group which suggested the changes were much more radical and would impact primary schools (they will not) there has been little serious debate in Northern Ireland about the changes which are coming.

It is also noteworthy that the changes have knock on consequences for devolution. Many Unionists who held their noses when it came to accepting Sinn Fein in government did so on the basis at least Stormont would permit Unionists to exercise a degree of control. Some argued that the parallel consent mechanisms of the Belfast Agreement could be used to stop the redefinition of marriage and abortion and would prevent Westminster imposing things over the heads of Unionists.

London has, however, not only repeatedly meddled in devolved matters but, due to the Protocol, has even trashed Northern Ireland’s constitutional position as a full and equal member of the U.K.

With little prospect of things improving if devolution was to return – there is a majority in the Assembly which is even more radical than Westminster on a range of issues such as “conversion therapy”, transgenderism and exclusion zones – those concerned about the changes to RSE in Northern Ireland are unlikely to see any improvement under a Stormont executive.

Shifting attitudes of the C of E!

This report on the state of the Church of England is of interest to all who love the truth of God, irrespective of our view of that particular religious body.

The ‘Church of England’ emerged from the mists of religious and political controversy in the 16th century, trailing with it much of the ways, the language, the costumes and the errors of popish trumpery!

There were many very brave men and women who did their best to further reform the new ecclesiastical body, many of whom paid with their lives their faithfulness to God and His Word.

In the seventeenth century, under Charles II, the ‘Church’ was purged of virtually all who desired a greater reforming and a closer alignment in faith and practice with the Word of God. They were literally cast out into the street at the King’s command in what became known last the ‘Great Ejection’.

The ‘Act of Uniformity’ of Charles II prescribed that any minister who refused to conform to the 1662 Book of Common Prayer by St Bartholomew’s Day (24 August) 1662 should be ejected from the Church of England. This date became known as “Black Bartholomew’s Day” among Dissenters, a reference to the fact that it occurred on the same day as the St Bartholomew’s Day massacre of 1572.

Oliver Heywood estimated the number of ministers ejected at 2,500. This group included Richard Baxter, Edmund Calamy the Elder, Simeon Ashe, Thomas Case, John Flavel, William Jenkyn, Joseph Caryl, Benjamin Needler, Thomas Brooks, Thomas Manton, William Sclater, Thomas Doolittle, and Thomas Watson. Biographical details of ejected ministers and their fates were later collected by the historian Edmund Calamy, grandson of Calamy the elder.

In many ways, this was a mortal blow for the Church of England has ever since been an avenue by which false teaching and heresy has been introduced in ‘the name of the Lord’ and corrupt practices have been sanctioned by it.

It has been slowly dying as an institution ever since. This article gives further evidence of the corrupting process known as DEATH, being at an advanced stage in its ranks! Click to read more…

Prominent US priest took umbrage at being linked to the IRA

Prominent Irish-American priest ‘Fr‘ Sean McManus

The following article is from the ‘Belfast Telegraph, Monday 28th August.

It relates the attempts of a priest who came from our part of the world, for he was born in Co. Fermanagh, my native county.

He comes from a strongly republican family with very obvious ties to the IRA. His brother, Patrick, was a member of the IRA and was killed in an explosion in 1958 during the IRA’s “Border Campaign”.

The Word of God tells us that Christ forbids the use of the spiritual title ‘Father’ to any man. “‭And‭ call‭‭ no‭ ‭man‭ your‭ father‭ upon‭ the earth‭: for‭ one‭ is‭‭ your‭ Father‭, which‭ is in‭ heaven‭,‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ Matthew 23:9. McManus, like all Roman Catholic priests, displays his defiance of Christ by the use of such a title. It is for this reason I try ever to place quotation marks around its use!

McManus took umbrage at a BBC reporter, Seamus McKee, who alleged claimed he had links to the IRA.

This priest, like others who have made no secret of their ties to the terrorists of the IRA, had indeed links with the terror group. He had family links as his brother’s membership of the IRA indicates. Furthermore, he had moral links for his whole public witness was but a reiteration largely of the usual Sinn Fein/IRA propaganda.

In the end, he abandoned his attempts for one reason or another.

But the case is not over, for like all such matters, there is a day when the Lord will publicly reveal the truth concerning such matters men have attempted to conceal.

“‭For God‭ shall bring‭‭ every work‭ into judgment‭, with every secret thing‭‭, whether ‭it be‭ good‭, or whether ‭it be‭ evil‭,‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ Ecclesiastes 12:14.

“‭In‭ the day‭ when‭ God‭ shall judge‭‭‭ the secrets‭ of men‭ by‭ Jesus‭ Christ‭ according‭ to my‭ gospel‭,‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ Romans 2:16.

“‭Therefore‭ judge‭‭ nothing‭‭ before‭ the time‭, until‭‭ the Lord‭ come‭‭, who‭ both‭ will bring to light‭‭ the hidden things‭ of darkness‭, and‭ will make manifest‭‭ the counsels‭ of the heart,‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ 1 Corinthians 4:5.

In the light of that day, the Christian is able to bear with the vexation and the anger that the arrogant and deceitful claims of the likes of McManus, knowing that one day, the God of all truth, will declare the authentic story of the life of such men!

Sincerely in Christ’s name,

Prominent US priest tried to sue BBC’s Seamus McKee after claiming he’d linked him to the IRA

Fr’ Sean McManus began the action in the late 1980s — but a decade later government officials were still dealing with the consequences

Sam McBride

A high-profile Irish American priest launched a libel action against BBC journalist Seamus McKee and others after being linked to the IRA — but abandoned it after several years, declassified files show.

A file on the matter was drawn up by Stormont’s Department of Economic Development because it had been named as one of the defendants in the action, along with the senior BBC figure, the BBC itself and former Alliance leader John Cushnahan. Click to read more…

Given for our encouragement - not for our excuse-making!

“For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do,” Romans 7:18-19.

These words of Paul denote great humility on the part of the great man. He has ever been an example to the millions of Christians who have read of his conversion, life and labours in the New Testament. Yet for all his true greatness, God inspired him to record these words of self-deprecation in this epistle “To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ,” Romans 1:7.

He would never adopt the title of ‘His Holiness’ as does the usurper who presently claims to be the chief successor of the apostles and the very ‘Vicar’ (one in the place) of Christ’, the Pope of Rome!

What Paul here says of himself, is of course, true of every genuine believer. I would have us consider just what the Holy Ghost has inspired Paul to say in these few words.

I. THESE WORDS WERE MEANT FOR THE ENCOURAGEMENT OF BELIEVERS

Our inherent sinfulness is ever a cause of deep regret and despair amongst Christians. There is an ‘air’ of lamentation about these words. And if we are truly saved we likewise will lament with Paul over our sins.

Therein lies the encouragement in these words -— holy Paul was beset by sin as we sadly must confess of ourselves.

1. Strive as we may, we cannot live without sin. Every Christian is driven to seek purity by the inward work of grace, the new nature fashioned after the likeness to Christ. “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure,” 1 John 3:2-3.

However, we cannot attain to perfection while in this body. “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us,” 1 John 1:8. The words of Paul tend to offset the disappointment that stems from our failure to procure that ‘beauty of holiness’ that we would desire to adorn ourselves with.

We must ever live with the knowledge “that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing”!

2. This awareness of our undeniable sinfulness will surely cast us upon the Lord. It was so with Paul. “O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin,” Romans 7:24-25.

Paul here describes the ever-presence of his old nature like carrying about a dead body strapped to him. It has been said of these words by John Gill: ‘He was weary of the present life, and wanted to be rid of his mortal body, this did not arise from the troubles and anxieties of life, with which he was pressed, which oftentimes make wicked men long to die; but from the load of sin, and burden of corruption, under which he groaned, and still bespeaks him a regenerate man; for not of outward calamities, but of indwelling sin.’

Our sinful nature is a weariness to the believer, far outweighing any troubles or afflictions that may come our way! It mars the enjoyment of our every blessing, intruding into every aspect of our walk with God, our fellowship, our prayers, our worship! It is as a stinking corpse of which we cannot rid ourselves.

It is to the Lord we must cry for relief amidst this affliction.

3. There is relief to be found in Christ. “O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord.” We must not be overcome or overly depressed by our sin. Rather, we must heed those wonderful words of John. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness,” 1 John 1:9. These blessed words, sandwiched between two verses in which stern words remind us of our undeniable sinfulness. One verse I have already quoted: “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us” 1 John 1:8. The other reminds us of the crime involved in denying our sinfulness. “If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us,” 1 John 1:10.

As I say, in between these two darkly true statements is the sunshine of mercy and grace. Confession of our sins brings forgiveness and cleansing from One Who is ‘faithful and just’, that is, He is faithful to His merciful promise of pardon to the repentant sinner and is ‘just’, in that He cannot punish our sins in us as they were punished in Christ upon the cross. From Christ’s blood-shedding there springs the blessing of cleansing from ‘all unrighteousness’! O how sweet is the glorious truth of the substitutionary death of Christ! Old Isaiah the prophet rejoiced in it some seven hundred years before it took place.

“Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all,” Isaiah 53:4-6.

II. HOWEVER, WE MUST NOT READ THESE VERSES AND THEN EXCUSE OURSELVES OF SIN

It would be all too easy to misunderstand the implication of these words and say of them that they are saying that I cannot stop sinning therefore I am not to blame for my sinfulness!

1. Please note carefully that despite his open acknowledgement of his unconquerable sin, Paul indicates that he continually seeks to resist it. That is what he says in the verses 24 and 25 he seeks a deliverance from his sin through “Jesus Christ our Lord”.

We Christians have two natures. One is the old Adamic nature, inherited from our fathers. It produces the wickedness of which all men are guilty. “For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries,” 1 Peter 4:3.

It is ‘incurably’ sinful. But the Christian has another nature, placed within him by divine grace at his regeneration. “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust,” 2 Peter 1:3-4.

We have been given a nature akin to God’s holy nature, with the exception of His divine attributes, His omnipotence, omnipresence, omniscience etc. We are however, as Peter says, partakers of the holy nature. “We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.” 1 John 5:18. James speaks of this ‘keeping’ of ourselves. “Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world,” James 1:27.

There is a resistance to sin within each true believer.

2. This spirit of resistance drives us to Christ for deliverance. When Peter sinned as he did when he denied the Lord Jesus, it says that “Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly,” Matthew 26:75. There was brought to his mind what the Saviour had said and Peter realised his sinfulness and he then ‘went out’ from the presence of others to seek in private the face of the Lord and brokenly confessed his sin and repented of it. That he was forgiven and reconciled to the Lord may be seen in the words of the angel to “Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome” in the empty tomb. “And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted. And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him. But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you,” Mark 16:5-7.

How significant are those two words: ‘and Peter’. He was not excluded but being forgiven he was to resume his walk with Christ and continue in the work he was called to do.

The Psalms are filled with examples of the saint running to the Lord, burdened by the guilt of sin and the shame of defeat, and then to be raised in joy to praising the Lord.

“Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God,” Psalm 43:5.

3. Through the grace and power of Christ, the Christian is enabled to live in victory over sin. When In prison in 1966, these words became most precious to me and have remained a constant comfort throughout the subsequent years. “Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me. Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me. I will bear the indignation of the LORD, because I have sinned against him, until he plead my cause, and execute judgment for me: he will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold his righteousness. Then she that is mine enemy shall see it, and shame shall cover her which said unto me, Where is the LORD thy God? mine eyes shall behold her: now shall she be trodden down as the mire of the streets,” Micah 7:7-10.

Yes, we  ‘fall’ into sin and are brought into ‘darkness’ BUT we may look upward to the Lord by faith and enjoy that blessed recovery of which only the Lord is capable of working within us. We may have to bear the ‘indignation’ (anger) of the Lord for a season and justly so, yet light from Him will dispel our self-inflicted darkness and He will bring us out of it to look upon His face afresh and enjoy victory over our sinful nature and the devil who has rejoiced in our fall!

As the old hymn puts it: ‘Each victory will help us, some other to win’! Each victory we enjoy over sin as we repent and come against to ‘the fountain filled with blood, drawn from Emmanuel’s veins’ for cleansing from its stains, is but a foreshadowing of that glorious victory of which we will one day partake.

“Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?  The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ,” 1 Corinthians 15:51-57.

Please remember the wonderful conclusion Paul draws from these truths: “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord,” 1 Corinthians 15:58.

May the Lord bless you through these few thoughts.

Cowardly and compromising

Here is further evidence of the cowardly and compromising response by the DUP to the LGBT advances and the dominant position that the advocates of perversion have attained in society, chiefly because of the pitiful attitude of men like Stephen Moutray. I am inclined to believe that the apology by Mr Moutray was the result of  pressure from the DUP’s ‘hierarchy’! If that is so, it but magnifies the shamefulness of the prevailing character of the DUP and its members in the face of the LGBT’s arrogant aggression!

Why is the DUP leadership and rank and file so frightened of them? Given what the Bible says of their ‘future’ there is nothing to be frightened of!

Article from the Irish News, 21 August, 2023

Mr Moutray is reported in the ‘Irish News’ of 21 August, 2023, as saying: ‘In serving as a public representative for over 22 years, I am well aware of my responsibilities under the Code of Conduct to show respect and consideration for others. To this end, I apologise for any offence caused to Ms Bradshaw, Mr Muir and Mr Tennyson.’

He is under a very much superior ‘Code of Conduct’ than that instigated by any local authority here in Northern Ireland. All men are under the ‘Code’ of God’s Law!

I understand that Mr Moutray has frequented gospel meetings (a very common practice with politicians soliciting the votes of Christians) and is therefore aware of what the Word of God has to say about sodomy. That makes his spineless response all the more  blameworthy. He is without excuse in his shameful kowtowing attempt to safeguard his council seat!

Under the code of God’s Word, it is absolutely no offence to decry the attitudes and antics of the LGBT crowd and their supporters. If it were the case, then how guilty is the Lord for none has spoken more scathingly, in a more derogatory fashion of the sodomite lobby than He.

Rather than show ‘respect and consideration’ to shameful acts of rebellion, the Christian is required to denounce such in the strong terms that God uses of them. We should follow Asa’s example and that of his son, Jehoshaphat, both of whom were followers of the Lord!

“And Asa did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, as did David his father. And he took away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made,” 1Kings 15:11-12.

“And the remnant of the sodomites, which remained in the days of his father Asa, he took out of the land,” 1 Kings 22:46.

Their actions brought God’s blessing upon the land. Stephen Moutray’s will not bring God’s blessing on himself or upon Ulster!

The Lord not merely has held an attitude toward these wicked people and spoken against them, but He has declared that He has prepared a place of eternal damnation for them and for all who defy His rule and Word!

That which He has prepared was set forth in His dealings with Sodom.

“Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire,” Jude 1:7.

The howls of protest against any Bible-based criticism of sodomy from them and those in league with them, are nothing to the ‘weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth’ which will be heard eternally from those who take no heed to the warnings of the gospel.

“The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; and shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth,” Matthew 13:41-42.

49th Anniversary of the opening of Kilskeery FPC building

“Wondering at God’s Great Works”

“For thou art great, and doest wondrous things: thou art God alone,” Psalm 86:10.

A message preached by Rev David Creane (Rtd) at the morning service, August 20th 2023, marking the 49th Anniversary of the opening of Kilskeery Free Presbyterian Church building on 17th August 1974.

A video of this sermon may be viewed here:

A brief account of the work of God in Kilskeery

Today has been set aside as an anniversary of the opening of the first building on this site 49 years ago.

However, the work of grace in the area had begun some years before. From the earliest days of the Free Presbyterian witness in Lisbellaw, where the first regular service began on 12th February 1967, there were Christians from the Ballinamallard/Kilskeery area attending the services.

The Old hall at Lisbellaw where the Free Presbyterian witness began in 1967

But in 1970, chiefly as the result of the witnessing of a Kilskeery lady, Mrs Sadie McKinley, who had been saved in a meeting at which Dr Ian Paisley preached, in a gospel mission that I was conducting in Springfield, a few miles north west of Enniskillen, members of her family and friends in the Kilskeery area began attending the Lisbellaw meetings, travelling over from Kilskeery, a distance of some 12 miles. Very soon, some 20 adults and children were attending regularly, some 12-15 having been converted. Click to read more…

A nation of fools

The Foyle Pride Parade makes its way along Duke Street in Derry.

The following article has appeared in today’s Belfast Newsletter.

This decision by the ‘Parades Commission’ indicates the sympathy with which everything linked to the ‘LGBT lifestyle’ is held by those in power. All that the ‘LGBTites’ do and desire is held to be ‘sacrosanct’ by those who come under the umbrella of the ‘status quo’!

Increasingly, over the last decade in particular, the perverted campaign mounted by those who would live in utter defiance of all things decent and that ordered by the God of Heaven, have been given carte blanche regarding all they wish to see the rest of society, the vast majority of society, concede to them.

Their views and evil practices have been enshrouded in legal protections and sanctions.

Basically, it is deemed a ‘hate crime’ to say of them and to them what the Lord, the Judge of all the earth, Who alone can only do right? (Genesis 18:25), has said is the unalterable and eternal consequences for those who give themselves to this wickedness.

In truth, though the ‘Pride’ organisers would never believe this, it is the greatest kindness that could be shown to these defiers of God when thy are plainly told from God’s Word of the harvest that awaits them for their rebellion!

Little do the ‘Parades Commission’ realise that they are denying, not the Christians who wish to witness against this wicked event, but a merciful warning from those who are wrongly deemed disturbers of the peace and potential instigators of disorder, to those parading and flaunting God’s Law!

What is happening bears out the recent headline in the ‘Times’ newspaper.

Civil servants are losing faith in Christianity

August 17 2023, 7.00pm.

We have become a nation of fools!

“The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good,”  Psalm 14:1. Click to read more…

Creation's universal testimony to its Creator

The central parts of our Galaxy, the Milky Way, as observed in the near-infrared with the NACO instrument on ESO’s Very Large Telescope.

“‭‭‭‭‭‭The heavens‭ declare‭‭ the glory‭ of God‭; and the firmament‭ sheweth his‭‭ handywork‭‭.‭ ‭Day‭ unto day‭ uttereth‭‭ speech‭, and night‭ unto night‭ sheweth‭‭ knowledge‭.‭ ‭There is‭ no speech‭ nor language‭, ‭where‭ their voice‭ is not heard‭‭.‭ ‭Their line‭ is gone out‭‭ through all the earth‭, and their words‭ to the end‭ of the world‭‭‭‭‭,‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ Psalm 19:1-4.

Before Charles Darwin, or any of his unwise predecessors, opened his mouth to spout the utter folly of the notion of ‘evolution’ — the idea that there was a spontaneous coming into existence of the basic elements of all life and matter and their development by stages over countless millions of years to what we may observe today — there was the clear and universal testimony of the silent lips of that created of their origins at the hands of the Lord.

Psalm 19, quoted above, has long declared this truth, even before the creation of man.

Evolution, in whatever form it is presented, for there are as many variations of this ever ‘evolving’ notion as there are fish in the sea, is essentially nothing more than another attempt by fallen man to deny the existence of the Lord, his Creator! “‭‭‭‭‭‭‭The fool‭ hath said‭‭ in his heart‭, ‭There is‭ no God‭ . . . ,‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ Psalm 14:1. It is man’s attempt to contradict the testimony of the skies above and the earth beneath of the handiwork of God.

Such attempts at denial are indeed, as David says, the actions of the fool. So foolish is the ’theory’ of evolution that it has to be altered and corrected and updated almost as soon as it is articulated! It has more varieties than the famous ‘Heinz 57 Varieties’ of food products! The superfluity of variations of man’s notions of the origin of all things is testimony to the simple fact that man does not know the truth of how this world and the immensity of the heavens came about.

It is a self-inflicted ignorance for there is ever before his eyes the glorious witness of which our text speaks. But man is a creature in rebellion against God. He is the disciple of sin and will not admit the existence of the God of the Bible. I say, ‘the God of the Bible’, for man is not in truth an ‘atheist’! He happily invents for himself a ‘god’ of his own liking. Even those who profess Christianity are in truth in this camp. That is why the pulpits and the pews of most churches are occupied by those who reject the testimony of the Holy Scriptures given us of God and seek to amend and edit them to present a ‘god’ with whom they are content! Thus today’s ‘Bible’ bookshops are filled with a large variety of so-called ‘versions’ of the Word of God. They are in truth, ‘perversions’.

Please consider the testimony as old as time itself and projecting its witness since that first day spoken of in Genesis 1. Click to read more…

The believer's confidence in future glory

“As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness,” Psalm 17:15.

I read Psalm 17 on the Lord’s Day morning past and then began a study of the verse 15. When time for the morning prayer meeting came round, I walked the few yards down to the church. The prayer meeting was opened by the singing of this psalm, which would indicate that the elder leading the prayer meeting also follows Robert Murray M‘Cheyne’s Bible Reading Calendar, something I recommend to all.

This psalm comes from the pen of David. God has been pleased to pass on to ensuing generations much blessed instruction through  the psalms and songs of the King of Israel of old.

Every one of the inspired psalms abounds with divine instruction on all things spiritual and related to the experiences of the saints of God. For this reason they have been a favourite portion of God’s Word to consult in times of perplexity, trouble and fear.

As one who holds to the Presbyterian form of church government and polity, I know how much the Psalms have meant to my forefathers in times of tribulation and distress. We sing still with joy the metrical form of the Psalms as compiled and arranged by our 17th century forefathers.

Today’s generation of Free Presbyterians need to make sure that this holy practice does not diminish or die!

In our verse there is given to the people of God a wonderful picture of the happy prospect that is theirs through the grace of God. What the future holds for the believer has ever been revealed by the Lord to His people. Thus Job, who had no written record of God’s Word, was able to say with assurance: “For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: and though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me,” Job 19:25-27. There is so much in these words that it would take many sermons to expound them all!

Job was acquainted with the truth of the Redeemer and His then present existence. He knew of His second coming to this earth (which indicates he knew of His first coming) to rise up in power to rule the earth for that is implied in the Hebrew word translated ‘he shall stand’. Click to read more…

No need to be ashamed!

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek,” Romans 1:16.

This is a text that I am sure every true gospel preacher has preached from at least once. Most will have visited it many times in their ministry. It is a wonderful compendium of gospel truth!

The apostle Paul was truly a great man though he never attained to the realms by which worldly men today measure ‘greatness’!

Paul on trial before Agrippa, by Nikolai Bodarevsky, 1875

Those whose faces and names frequently, if not ‘ad nauseam’, appear in news reports, will undoubtedly be forgotten, long before 2000 days are passed, never mind 2000 years!

It is believed that it was around AD 68 that the great man was put to death by the Roman Caesar, Nero. It is believed that he was converted to Christ (Acts 9:1-18) around about the early AD 30s. That means that he lived as a Christian and fervently served the Lord for some 35 years.

In those years, he left an indelible mark upon human history. He is still a guide, an inspiration, a pattern (1 Timothy 1:16)  and an example to the countless millions of Christians who have sought to obey the gospel Paul preached and follow Christ.

In our verse Paul speaks of being unashamed of the gospel. Without doubt there were many things regarding himself that Paul was ashamed of. He said of himself, “I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God,” 1 Corinthians 15:9. Paul never forgot his shameful pre-conversion days. His heart burned with a hatred for Christ, His Word and His people. His spirit is displayed to us in Acts 9:1. “And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord,” Acts 9:1. He was ‘dragon-like’ in his fury against God and His people!

I recall, while a ministerial student (1965-68), Dr John Douglas, in our English Bible studies, saying it was likely that the memory of his former fury against the Lord that motivated him in his gospel labours and spurred him on so that he could later rightly claim, with due acknowledgement of God’s grace in it all: “But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me,” 1 Corinthians 15:10.

He not only surpassed the labours of his fellow apostles, but I believe that he suffered for Christ more than they all. Of this he was warned on the day of his conversion. The Lord sent Ananias, a disciple in Damascus, to help Paul (or Saul as he was then known). “But the Lord said unto him (Ananias), Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel: for I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name’s sake,” Acts 9:15-16.

And suffer he did as he later testified. “In labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft. Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches. Who is weak, and I am not weak? who is offended, and I burn not?” 2 Corinthians 11:23-29.

These words tell us of his zeal for the Lord, his indifference to what he had to endure to spread the gospel, his courage and his patient endurance. He is indeed an example for every Christian today.

Please come to the famous verse 16. “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek and note:

I. WHATEVER PAUL HAD TO BE ASHAMED OF IT WAS NOT THE GOSPEL!

He tells us why he was not ashamed of the gospel. Click to read more…

TUV challenges Chief Constable on data breaches

Mr Jim Allister KC, leader of the Traditional Unionist Voice

The recent data breach by someone within the Northern Ireland Police Service, whether civilian worker or police officer, is incalculable in its implications and ramifications!

That the full details of serving officers and civilian staff should have been made available to all and sundry, including terrorists, is incomprehensibly incompetent to say the least!

Mr Jim Allister KC, leader of the Traditional Unionist Voice,  has quite rightly asked the Chief Constable the following astute questions,

We wait with interest the response of the Chief Constable!

Sincerely in Christ’s name, Ivan Foster

TUV challenges Chief Constable on data breaches

10th August, 2023.

Dear Chief Constable,

Re: Recent catastrophic data breach

I would like some clear answers arising from the above.

*Is there an internal audit trail of everyone concerned in processing this request within the PSNI? (These people must be held to account.)

*What supervision, and at what level, was there of those who put the information together?

*At what level was the intended FOI response checked? I note references to a junior member of staff compiling the information, but is there no threshold of seniority as to who has access to such information? How, if correct, did a junior member of staff come to be handling this information?

*Was the compiler a civilian member of staff, a full employee, an agency worker or a police officer?

*What level of security clearance did the compiler hold?

*What were the supervision arrangements in place and were they fully followed? Supervision, or lack of it, seems to me a key consideration, with scapegoating of junior staff not acceptable.

*What was the status of the person(s) who signed off on the release?

*What is/was the function and responsibility of a) ACC Todd and b) yourself in oversight of data handling?

*Is mishandling/disclosure of sensitive/classified information regarded as gross misconduct with dismissal consequences?

*As Chief Constable how far do you take responsibility for this disaster, or where does the buck stop?

I suspect you will seek to brush aside my questions under the guise of an ongoing investigation, but you should realise that public confidence in you and your staff is in play here and you should not compound the situation by prevaricating and seeking refuge from answering.

Yours sincerely,

Jim Allister

The coming of the Lord is getting nearer

Preached in Coragarry Free Presbyterian Church, Co. Monaghan, the Irish republic, by Rev Ivan Foster, Lord’s Day 6th August 2023.

Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh,” James 5:8.

This morning I wish to turn your attention, if I may, to a subject that I have felt more and more burdened to deal with, either in the pulpit or with my pen, as I near the end of my being able to so minister.

I refer to that great Bible truth:

THE RETURN OF CHRIST TO THIS EARTH IN POWER AND GLORY.

If it seems to some that I am preoccupied with this subject, may I quote some verses from the Acts of the Apostles. “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; and he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began,” Acts 3:19-21. These are the words of Peter. He says that all God’s ‘holy prophets’ spoke of the return of Christ at the time of the “restitution of all things”.

So far from being fixated with this wonderful subject, it would appear that I am in step with ‘all’ of God’s servants of old! The words of our text were written some 2000 years ago. This does not mean that believers back then were expecting the Lord any time soon. No, they would been instructed in what Paul taught the Thessalonians. “Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, that ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition,” 2 Thessalonians 2:1-3. There I s to be a great falling away before the return of Christ. The phrase ‘a falling away’ is a translation of the Greek word from which we get ‘apostasy’.

The Saviour’s return is drawing nearer and nearer. We are commanded to watch for the sign of that event amongst the affairs of men and events in the physical world. Were Christians and men generally to ever keep this wonderful event before them, the passage shows the impact for good it would have on the rich, the greedy and those suffering under persecution. As for Christians, our text indicates that ‘patience’ and ‘stability and stedfastness’ would be the result.

One of the signs is given us in Luke 21:26. “Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth.” We are witnessing strange times of late and certainly men are alarmed and postulating all sorts of reasons for the lawlessness in society and the environmental events taking place world-wide. I wish to quickly set before you the most prominent signs Scripture says will indicate the near approach of the ‘Coming of the Lord’.

I. NOTE THE FIRST SIGN PAUL MENTIONS

1. That day shall not come, except there come a falling away first. There is a be a most notable ‘apostasy’ amongst professing Christians. Paul refers to this time again in 2 Timothy 3:1. “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.” A time spoken of in Revelation 12:12. “Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.”

2. It reminds me of the devil’s ‘last fling’ in the gospels. Mark 9:17-26. He rages before before departing from the child. In like manner, the great apostasy, culminating in the appearance of the Antichrist, is the devil’s ‘last fling’ before the return of Christ.

3. Today, the devil is seeking to destroy the gospel witness. He has succeeded in many places. We have but to consider our own United Kingdom, and closer to home, our own province of Ulster. It was once the home of gospel blessing and that not long ago. Some of us can remember times of real Holy Ghost stirrings, some 50-60 years ago. However today, there is a great resemblance to the lad in Mark 9:17. “he was as one dead’! Deadness prevails throughout our land. Apostasy rules and reigns in the vast majority of churches where once the gospel was preached. Click to read more…

From terrorism to transgenderism

Sinn Fein MLA Emma Sheerin was speaking at Belfast Pride Talks Back

Sinn Fein supports the full spectrum of evil!

Sinn Fein has called for new legislation for Northern Ireland to make puberty blockers available to young trans teens as part of normal healthcare.

Every defiance of God springs from a common source — the depraved heart of man. This the Saviour affirmed very clearly. “For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: these are the things which defile a man,” Matthew 15:19-20.

The very first evidence of man’s depravity that the Saviour mentions is ‘evil thoughts’. The word ‘thoughts’ refers to that ‘evil reasoning and disputing’ against God and His truth that has its source in the human heart, prompted and aided by the devil.

That is what lies behind the ‘thinking’ of Sinn Fein and its latest call for a defiance of God and His ordained order amongst mankind, as reported in today’s (3.8.23) ‘Belfast Newsletter’.

Never was there clearer evidence of Sinn Fein’s party’s God-defying mindset than this call by Emma Sheerin. This party would have it established here that the deviant demands for medical aid to hinder and oppose that natural transition that takes place in the human body as it grows and develops from adolescence to adulthood.

Sinn Fein’s MLA for Mid Ulster, Emma Sheerin, made her demand at the ‘Belfast Pride Talks Back’ radio event last week. Host William Crawley asked a political panel if their parties support access to puberty blockers for young trans teenagers in Northern Ireland. Emma Sheerin responded with this demand that such an abnormal procedure be ’normalised’ and become available on the National Health Service. According to press reports, Sinn Fein appears to have affirmed that this is the party position on this subject.

Apart from anything else, the NHS is so overstretched that with such an additional procedure becoming standard, it would mean that the treatment of common and legitimate ailments would suffer.

Shall such a scheme come about? In truth, I will be surprised (and delighted) if it doesn’t! Only Jim Allister’s TUV party has come out and publicly spoken against the issue of ‘transgenderism’. The party issued a statement and it is reported in the ’Belfast Newsletter’. I see no real opposition within the other Unionist parties regarding this perversion and of course, we cannot expect the Government in Westmister to oppose that which it has so much to promote! The evil of sodomy and the need to protest

Gospel preacher Ryan Williamson, 44, was arrested by PSNI officers for suspected disorderly behaviour after refusing to stop preaching in Larne town centre in 2021.

“‭Even as‭ Sodom‭ and‭ Gomorrha‭, and‭ the cities‭ about‭ them‭ in like‭‭ manner‭, giving themselves over to fornication‭‭, and‭ going‭‭ after‭ strange‭ flesh‭, are set forth for‭‭ an example‭, suffering‭‭ the vengeance‭ of eternal‭ fire‭,‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ Jude 1:7.

Following the display of depravity by those who have adopted a life of moral perversion and defiance of God in Belfast, on Saturday, July 29th, there has been much in the press about one protest mounted against that exhibition of the latest example of the fast growing rebelliousness of mankind and the tragic acceptance of it by thousands of men, women and parents with their children.

I am referring to the open-air protest mounted by Mr Ryan Williamson. There followed quite a stir amongst the supporters of the sodomite parade at what he said during his open-air meeting. I will not repeat what was reported in the press as being his words of condemnation, for he has claimed that he was taken out of context though he did not dispute his use of the word ‘rape’. The matter is under consideration by the police who took videos of what was said by Mr Williamson. We await the outcome of that investigation.

I might offer my support to Mr Williamson in his protest. I do not know him. I have never met him or heard him nor do I know much about his theological views, though I do accept his profession of being a true believer in the Lord Jesus Christ.

I have been a preacher in the open-air and in pulpits since I first feebly opened my mouth to proclaim Christ in an open-air conducted by Mr Noel Stephenson, back in April 1964, some thirteen days after God saved me out of darkness, ignorance and sin on 5th April of that year.

I have been engaged in preaching and in protest ever since, both in pulpits, open-air meetings and by the use of the pen. Some might even suggest that I have been a ‘mite’ controversial in my witnessing! Be that as it may, I have been led to follow a simple rule when denouncing the wickedness of this age. I recall hearing old Pastor Willie Mullan, as he related his response to criticism of something he had said: “Your argument is not with me, but with God for I have only quoted what He said in the Bible!”

Providentially, that simple precept was implanted in me from that time and almost unconsciously I have been constrained to abide within the parameters of that rule.

The Bible gives an abundance of clear and proper denunciations we may employ when dealing with men’s sinfulness. Indeed, we cannot come up with words more damning than those God employs. The Saviour’s censuring of His critics, His enemies, in Matthew 23, sets down an abundance of proper terms to employ against God’s enemies.

When criticised for employing the Saviour’s terms of rebuke against those who break His Law, we may respond with a ‘Thus said the Lord’! Such criticism should not in the least embarrass Christians nor, above all, bring any measure of reproach upon the cause of God.

These are evil times and whatever a Christian may seek to do to uphold the honour and truth of the Lord Jesus will be opposed and misconstrued by those who have no compunction about employing lies against the child of God. Remember it was so in the case of our Saviour Himself! Click to read more…

Frederick Douglass statue unveiled

The Belfast statue of Frederick Douglass

This brief article was prompted by a report on the BBC website today. A Statue of Frederick Douglass has just been unveiled in Belfast city centre. His name will be unknown to most.

Here is the BBC headline.

Frederick Douglass: Statue of American activist unveiled

I know that it is likely that the most important fact about this man will be overlooked and ignored by the many who will view the statue and especially by those who will be most anxious to sing his praises and make political points before the cameras and microphones of the press!

Frederick Douglass said of Belfast, which he had visited in the 1840s at the invitation of the Belfast Anti Slavery Society and to where he had come when fleeing from the threat of recapture: “Whenever else I feel myself to be a stranger I will remember I have a home in Belfast.” It is recorded that Frederick Douglass asked British Christians never to support American churches that permitted slavery, and he expressed his happiness to know that a group of ministers in Belfast had refused to admit slaveholders as members of the Church.

Here are my comments.

Frederick Douglass – 1817/18 — 1895

A former slave and a leading campaigner for the abolition of slavery but first of all a Christian!

There is no mention of the fact of him being a converted sinner in the BBC report, likely because Sinn Fein has had a leading part in the erection of the statue. Bible Christianity has no place in the ‘persona’ of that party which openly has supported terror and murder, that which is of the same evil ilk as slavery! Click to read more…

God's covenant with Israel -- yet awaiting final fulfilment!

“‭This‭ ‭is‭ the covenant‭ that‭ I will make‭‭ with‭ them‭ after‭ those‭ days‭, saith‭‭ the Lord‭, I will put‭‭ my‭ laws‭ into‭ their‭ hearts‭, and‭ in‭ their‭ minds‭ will I write‭‭ them‭;‭ ‭and‭ their‭ sins‭ and‭ iniquities‭‭ will I remember‭‭ no‭ more‭,‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ Hebrews 10:16-17.

The Lord has a special relationship with the nation of Israel. So often hated by the nations of men, they are beloved of God! He has said of them: “‭For thou ‭art‭ an holy‭ people‭ unto the LORD‭ thy God‭: the LORD‭ thy God‭ hath chosen‭‭ thee to be a special‭ people‭ unto himself, above all people‭ that ‭are‭ upon the face‭ of the earth‭,‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ Deuteronomy 7:6. The word ‘special’ is elsewhere translated by the phrase ‘peculiar treasure, jewel’. We stand in awe of this nation’s relationship with the Lord, despite all their sin and rebellion!

The verses which form our text, are among the final references in the Bible to the Covenant that God has made with Israel and which yet awaits final fulfilment.

I must emphasise that the LORD HAS NOT ABANDONED ISRAEL AND UTTERLY GIVEN THEM UP! That is something that Paul the apostle made ABSOLUTELY plain.

“‭I say‭‭ then‭,‭ Hath‭‭ God‭ cast away‭‭ his‭ people‭? God forbid‭‭‭. For‭ I‭ also‭ am‭‭ an Israelite‭, of‭ the seed‭ of Abraham‭, ‭of‭ the tribe‭ of Benjamin‭.‭ ‭God‭ hath‭‭ not‭ cast away‭‭ his‭ people‭ which‭ he foreknew‭‭.‭ Wot (know) ye‭‭ not‭ what‭ the scripture‭ saith‭‭ of‭ Elias‭? how‭ he maketh intercession‭‭ to God‭ against‭ Israel‭, saying‭‭,‭ ‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬Lord‭, they have killed‭‭ thy‭ prophets‭, and‭ digged down‭‭ thine‭ altars‭; and I‭ am left‭‭ alone‭, and‭ they seek‭‭ my‭ life‭.‭ ‭But‭ what‭ saith‭‭ the answer of God‭ unto him‭? I have reserved‭‭ to myself‭ seven thousand‭ men‭, who‭ have‭‭ not‭ bowed‭‭ the knee‭ to ‭the image of‭ Baal‭.‭ ‭Even so‭ then‭ at‭ this present‭ time‭ also‭ there is‭‭ a remnant‭ according‭ to the election‭ of grace‭,‭”‭‭Romans 11:1-5.‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

Many times, even in the periods of Israel’s deepest apostasy and departure from God, He reiterated the terms of the Covenant and sought to encourage and comfort those who were under His judgment for their sins. Just on Friday past, I read these words in my daily reading. “‭Again the word‭ of the LORD‭ came unto me, saying‭‭,‭ ‭Thus saith‭‭ the LORD‭, the God‭ of Israel‭; Like these good‭ figs‭, so will I acknowledge‭‭ them that are carried away captive‭ of Judah‭, whom I have sent‭‭ out of this place‭ into the land‭ of the Chaldeans‭ for ‭their‭ good‭.‭ ‭For I will set‭‭ mine eyes‭ upon them for good‭, and I will bring them again‭‭ to this land‭: and I will build‭‭ them, and not pull ‭them‭ down‭‭; and I will plant‭‭ them, and not pluck ‭them‭ up‭‭.‭ ‭And I will give‭‭ them an heart‭ to know‭‭ me, that I ‭am‭ the LORD‭: and they shall be my people‭, and I will be their God‭: for they shall return‭‭ unto me with their whole heart‭,‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ Jeremiah 24:4-7.

The day before reading those words, I read these verses, and they are what suggested this study to me:

“‭Woe‭ be unto the pastors‭‭ that destroy‭‭ and scatter‭‭ the sheep‭ of my pasture‭! saith‭ the LORD‭.‭ ‭Therefore thus saith‭‭ the LORD‭ God‭ of Israel‭ against the pastors‭‭ that feed‭‭ my people‭; Ye have scattered‭‭ my flock‭, and driven them away‭‭, and have not visited‭‭ them: behold, I will visit‭‭ upon you the evil‭ of your doings‭, saith‭ the LORD‭.‭ ‭And I will gather‭‭ the remnant‭ of my flock‭ out of all countries‭ whither I have driven‭‭ them, and will bring them again‭‭ to their folds‭; and they shall be fruitful‭‭ and increase‭‭.‭ ‭And I will set up‭‭ shepherds‭‭ over them which shall feed‭‭ them: and they shall fear‭‭ no more, nor be dismayed‭‭, neither shall they be lacking‭‭, saith‭ the LORD‭.‭ ‭Behold, the days‭ come‭‭, saith‭ the LORD‭, that I will raise‭‭ unto David‭ a righteous‭ Branch‭, and a King‭ shall reign‭‭ and prosper‭‭, and shall execute‭‭ judgment‭ and justice‭ in the earth‭.‭ ‭In his days‭ Judah‭ shall be saved‭‭, and Israel‭ shall dwell‭‭ safely‭: and this ‭is‭ his name‭ whereby he shall be called‭‭, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS‭.‭ ‭Therefore, behold, the days‭ come‭‭, saith‭ the LORD‭, that they shall no more say‭‭, The LORD‭ liveth‭, which brought up‭‭ the children‭ of Israel‭ out of the land‭ of Egypt‭;‭ ‭But, The LORD‭ liveth‭, which brought up‭‭ and which led‭‭ the seed‭ of the house‭ of Israel‭ out of the north‭ country‭, and from all countries‭ whither I had driven‭‭ them; and they shall dwell‭‭ in their own land‭,‭”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ Jeremiah 23:1-8.
